ScotsCare's reception is run by a team of friendly volunteers who each cover one shift per week. 

We are looking for a volunteer who is free to commit to this role for at least 6 months, longer if possible.  The shift is weekly on Friday mornings from 9 am to 12:30 pm. 

As our receptionist you will:

• Use Outlook to check staff availability and wherabouts 
• Screen and transfer phone calls to staff or pass messages on by email
• Provide a warm welcome to visitors and ensure they sign in and out 
• Deal with requests to send information out, mainly application packs andletters
• Assist with outgoing mail, franking, posting and ocasionally going to the post office
• Assist with other admin tasks as they arise - skills and interests dependent. 

You will need to be confident answering the phone, clearly spoken in English and a good listener.  Ideally, you will be experienced in using Outlook and Excel  for basic tasks although we can provide training if necessary. Most importantly, you will need to be reliable,good with timekeeping, non-judgemental and committed to helping Scots living in London who are struggling with life. 

If you have the time to spare, can commit to volunteering  with us on a regular basis for at least six months, preferably longer, want to meet new people or gain experience of working in an office /charity environment, please get in touch. 

Applications are welcome from adults aged 18 and over. Our office has no step free access.

Medaille Trust is one of the leading providers of support to survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking in the UK. We are working to provide refuge and freedom for survivors and fighting to see slavery in all its forms become a thing of the past. The need for this work has never been higher, there are more than 50 million estimated victims of modern slavery worldwide, and over 120,000 potential victims in the UK.

We operate ten safe houses and five outreach hubs, staffed round the clock by specialist staff, working with more than 600 men, women and dependent children each year.  We work to raise awareness in the UK and to provide preventive work in source countries. Our Pursue work helps survivors to engage with police and within the legal system to seek justice and to secure convictions against their perpetrators.

This role is based in the Hampshire area.

We are looking for Volunteers to help support us with coordinating and delivering activities, tasks will include:

•Organising and delivering activities for service user participation, which may include craft, arts, exercise/sport, education, wellbeing activities.

•Consulting service users to gain their feedback about what activities they would like to participate in.

•Helping to create a varied programme of activities.

•Offering a safe and comfortable experience for all service user, showing awareness of service users’ varying physical and mental well-being needs.

This role requires maturity, and an ability to engage with adults in a trauma informed way, while working alongside staff members to deliver the activities in line with agreed procedures and systems

Volunteers need to:

•Be at least 18 years old

•Be able to get to the venue in Southampton

•Be computer literate to be able to complete any online training

•Be able to regularly commit to volunteer monthly

•Be willing to have an enhanced DBS check

•Have knowledge and understanding of human trafficking issues or willingness to learn

•Have knowledge and understanding of mental health conditions or willingness to learn

•Have an understanding of the importance of professional boundaries in the role

•Have the ability to maintain confidentiality

Role Summary

Education Outreach Volunteers support the Reptile Centre by assisting with community education sessions, school visits, events, and public engagement activities. Volunteers help promote reptile welfare, conservation awareness, and responsible pet ownership. This role is ideal for people who enjoy working with the public, have an interest in animals, and want to make a positive impact in the community.

Key Responsibilities

Support Educational Sessions

• Assist staff during school visits, workshops, and community outreach events.

• Help set up and pack away educational materials, displays, and activity stations.

• Support the delivery of interactive demonstrations (with or without live animals, depending on training).

• Engage with visitors, answer basic questions, and help create a welcoming learning environment.

Animal Handling (Optional Based on Training)

• Handle reptiles safely during sessions once trained and approved by senior staff.

• Support welfare checks and ensure animals are comfortable during events.

• Help maintain safe handling practices with the public.

Community Engagement

• Represent the Reptile Centre positively at fairs, open days, fundraising events, and exhibitions.

• Share information about the centre’s conservation work, rescue stories, and how people can get involved.

• Encourage visitors to support fundraising campaigns and ongoing community initiatives.

Event Support

• Assist with coordinating groups during onsite and offsite sessions.

• Help manage queues, guide groups, and provide general visitor support.

• Prepare craft materials, activity sheets, or demonstration equipment.

Practical Support

• Help maintain the cleanliness and organisation of education and outreach equipment.

• Support the preparation of educational resources and displays.

• Assist with basic administrative tasks such as feedback collection or session records.

Skills & Qualities Needed

Essential

• Friendly, reliable, and comfortable speaking with the public.

• Enthusiastic about reptiles, wildlife, conservation, or animal education.

• Willingness to learn and follow safety and welfare guidelines.

Desirable

• Experience working with animals, children, or in an educational setting.

• Confidence handling reptiles (training will be provided).

We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Volunteering in the shop

We've recently reopened our Islington Shop with a gorgeous new look inspired by the neighbouring film studios. In amongst the retro cinema seats and beautiful backstage velvet curtains you'll find unique vintage treasures and lovingly curated donated stock, hand picked by our brilliant volunteer team.

Our Islington Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

We also ask for a couple of references (these don’t have to be formal workplace ones, just someone who has known you for over 6 months and isn’t related).

Grantham Foodbank is seeking a Trustee – Compliance & Policy Lead to join our board. As a trustee, you’ll share responsibility for governance, strategic direction, and financial sustainability, with a focus on oversight, development, and implementation of policies including Safeguarding, GDPR, Health & Safety, and Equality.

You will support the Board in maintaining robust governance and risk management, helping the Foodbank deliver its mission effectively in the local community.

Time commitment: ~6–8 hours/month
Location: Grantham (board meetings in-person; some work from home)
Term: 3-year term, renewable

About you: Experience or understanding of governance, compliance, safeguarding, or policy development. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Commitment to the values of Grantham Foodbank and The Trussell Trust.
