An opportunity has arisen for a lead Support worker to work within our Sanctuary crisis intervention and prevention service, based in Fore Street in Enfield. We act as a short-term A&E and Emergency services alternative, providing support to individuals in the Enfield Borough aged 18+. 

This role is to provide leadership and support to the Sanctuary team on shift. The role will:

• Lead shifts during the week, providing support to team members via case management support, escalation, Health and Safety guidance
• Support the Sanctuary Manager to embed processes within the service, and ensure that these are carried out
• Work alongside the Manager and team to ensure that the service is operating to high quality standard.
• Provide support in times of emotional distress for clients. The support worker will provide a calm, supportive presence.

 The role will support clients through co-producing support plans with practical and therapeutic support offerings, as well as contributing to the development of a warm welcoming environment and ‘safe space’ to be.

This position would suit someone with a minimum of 2 years experience of working with people with mild, moderate and severe mental health issues.

The Sanctuary Service runs Monday - Friday, 5pm-10pm and at weekdays, 12-5pm. We would require the successful applicant to be able to work 4 shifts (21 hours per week) covering these days/times.

Bonny Downs Community Association has been working together to change lives and transform our community since 1998. Over the past 25 years our team has grown to provide a wide array of services that benefit Newham residents from all walks of life. 

This role is specifically funded through the Youth Endowment fund as a pilot project ‘Thriving Communities’. You will be required to work alongside Thriving Communities commissioners, as well as the project’s Youth Justice Worker’s, Educational Psychologist, and/or professionals assigned to individual young people’s cases- such as teachers, social workers and mentors. Staff from each organisation will work together to deliver the programme and cross-refer young people to activities led by both teams. The Merton Social Prescribing service is one of the most established and mature services in the UK and is celebrating its 7th anniversary this year. We are seeking an individual to join our successful service in Southwest London. This role will help to strengthen the links between Primary Care, voluntary and public services to improve patients’ health and wellbeing. 

You will support patients within Primary Care GP practices in Merton, and you will support each patient to access appropriate services provided by voluntary and community organisations and other agencies. We expand the options available in Primary Care by creating a ‘managed’ way for referrals of patients with social, emotional and/or practical needs to a variety of local non-clinical services in the community. • Undertake time-limited, SMART, and a range of evidence-based interventions such as 1-1’s, including harm minimisation, increasing awareness and motivation through stages of change and relapse prevention.
• Support in creating and maintaining a welcoming, psychologically informed home environment for residents/participants, ensuring a continuous focus on safety, health, and wellbeing.
• Positively promote and support connections with local communities and boroughs of SIG’s services and liaise with other teams to maintain and share knowledge and links to support people to access resources which include print, personal and digital.
• Develop community links and liaise regularly with a range of agencies and individuals across voluntary and third sector services in the community including but not limited to; drug and alcohol services, supported employment schemes, gyms and healthy living programmes, recovery colleges, and benefits and advice agencies.

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Knowledge, understanding and experience of working with people of complex backgrounds. Ideally ex-offenders, those with enduring mental health, substance misuse and challenging behaviours
• Experience of assessing needs and strengths, and supporting people with dual diagnosis and complex needs
• Previous experience in a similar role, providing holistic assessments and support for people experiencing mental illness who use substances
• IT Proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to navigate and learn new case management systems and other types of organisational software
• Able to recognise ill health and additional support and need for interventions
• Knowledge of the interactions between mental health problems and drug and alcohol use and the issues facing people trying to stabilise their situation
• Applied knowledge of the principles of risk assessment and risk management, particularly in relation to harm minimisation
• Ability to engage those who may be hard to reach, able to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with others

What we would like, but not essential:

• Experience in delivering training in motivational interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Theory informed approaches and other relevant recovery models

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of and help shape a new DHSC funded project - Early Support Hubs - providing innovative ways to support Young People’s (11 – 25 years) Mental Health and Wellbeing across the borough of Hackney.

This Early Intervention approach will enable young people to access support in a timely way within their own community and we will work collaboratively with the Hackney Super Youth Hub enabling a one stop shop experience for local young people.

We are looking for passionate and motivated Therapeutic Youth Workers who are committed to supporting positive change for local young people to join our team.

Main Responsibilities:

· Undertake 1:1, group, detached and outreach work with young people

· Provide one-to-one key-working up to 12 sessions, combining youth work values and principles with a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach to help address a wide range of issues that may impact on young people’s mental health and wellbeing e.g. housing, employment, physical health, education, finances and relationships.

· Use a supportive, young person-centred approach. e.g. explaining what services are and what they do, ensuring information is accurate and up-to-date, filling out forms together, making personal introductions, accompanying young people to initial meetings/sessions, being with them during phone calls etc.  

· To work with the Hackney Super Youth Hub, to support young people and liaise with appropriate professionals in the network.

· To maintain confidential, up to date and accurate records of all sessions and plans.

o mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.

Are you passionate about improving support for families affected by substance misuse?

This could be the perfect role for you! The Family Support Worker is an exciting role within a growing and dynamic team, where you can help to make a real difference to the lives of unpaid carers in Lambeth. 

Having identified a gap in the identification of young carers and adult carers looking after someone with substance misuse issues, over the past year we have successfully piloted a project to identify and provide long-term support to these carers. We are now entering the second year of the project, and are looking for a new Family Support Worker to bring their expertise, enthuasism and ideas to the next stage of the project. 

The Family Support Worker will work across our Young Carers and Adult Carers Service to provide support to families affected by substance misuse, through whole-family assessments and reviews. The successful candidate will ensure that adult and young carers, and their families, have access to a range of emotional and practical support appropriate to their needs.

The successful candidate will have an understanding of working within the substance misuse field and an understanding of associated health and social issues. They will preferably have experience of working with both adults, children and young people. We are seeking candidates with a professional qualification in health & social care, youth or community work, and/or direct experience of delivering family focused interventions.

About this role…

Thames Reach’s Outreach teams operate across London and helps those who are rough sleeping to find routes away from the street. The teams respond rapidly and work flexibly to reach people. Individuals are assessed to identify their support needs and support plans are created, including work to obtain identification, access health services and refer to other specialist agencies, including those offering immigration support.

You will:

• Complete outreach shifts, providing a rapid response to referrals for people who are rough sleeping in the borough 
• Take a lead role within the team, working closely with support workers and assistant support workers to identify the quickest and most appropriate route off the street for people found rough sleeping, and devise plans to achieve this 
• Provide direct support to people who are found rough sleeping to enable them to move away from the streets and into accommodation 
• Work alongside partner agencies to ensure that clients are accessing appropriate support to access and sustain accommodation
• Accurately record all work completed within given timeframes 

To succeed as the Lead Worker, you will have:

• A strong commitment to providing a high standard of service 
• Experience working with people who have rough slept or vulnerable adults and supporting them to access services 
• Excellent organisation and time management skills in order to remain strongly outcome focused, with the ability to coordinate a high number of cases and complete tasks promptly and efficiently
• Good communication skills and confidence in public speaking when representing Thames Reach externally 
• Experience in forming strong working relationships with partner agencies, being able to challenge them when required 
• Strong IT skills with the ability to use Outlook, online recording systems, Excel, and Word, using a tablet and a smart phone

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a refuge worker within a refuge service, supporting women and their children fleeing domestic abuse. Your responsibilities will include supporting and advocating for women and children, taking part in the on-call rota, managing day to day running of the refuge; health & safety, safeguarding and supporting the service and deputy manager. 

This post is restricted to women due to the nature of the role. The Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies. As part of this role, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call rota.

About this role…

We are looking for a Lead Worker to join the Lambeth Temporary Accommodation Support Service. Our team are commissioned to work with, and support individuals placed in temporary accommodation by the London Borough of Lambeth.

You will:

• Assess the housing and other needs of people living in Temporary Accommodation in Lambeth
• Complete referrals for immediate and long-term housing options, and refer people to organisations that can help with other support needs
• Work creatively with the local authority, community-based services, staff and service users to ensure that support is personalised, effective and measurable
• Contribute to evaluation and measuring impact.

To succeed as the Lead Worker, you will be:

• Organised and efficient in your work 
• Excellent at communicating, forming and maintaining effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders
• Organised and able to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines, including administrative tasks
• Competent at using a computer and a range of software packages
• Responsive and flexible to the needs of the team and service users.
