Night Concierge
We have a new role available for a Night Concierge, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the service’s clients.
Position: Night Concierge
Location: Wallsend, Tyne and Wear
Salary: £23,868 per annum plus pension and benefits
Hours: Waking nights on a rota, including weekends and bank holidays
Contract: Permanent

About the Role
To work as part of a team that delivers an assessment, support and move on service to vulnerable clients in supported or community-based accommodation. Our work is underpinned by the Endeavour model of assets-based, psychologically informed delivery. The aim of this is to ensure that every client leaves the service with the skills and resilience to be confident and self-determining in their lives.
Working under the direction, guidance and support of a manager/senior worker you will be responsible for managing the building to ensure that the accommodation provided to the clients is safe and secure through the provision of overnight concierge service, security and door control. This includes controlling access to buildings, being the first point of contact for all emergencies and carrying out Health and Safety checks and cleaning.
Key responsibilities include:
- You will always ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients in the service possible including using Safeguarding and emergency alert procedures as applicable.
- You will provide a basic first contact advice response and security service at night to clients living in the property and/or in dispersed accommodation linked to the service
- You will be the first point of contact for visitors, contractors or services visiting the building at night
- You will be responsible for maintaining Health and Safety standards on the premises and a point of information for clients regarding Health and Safety at night
- You will actively ensure the security of the building through regular checks, and monitoring.
About You
You will need to have the following skills and experience:
- An understanding of the needs of people who have experienced homelessness, poor mental health, substance use or care leavers.
- Experience in managing the overnight safety of vulnerable clients preferably in supported housing.
- Good written and spoken communication skills to ensure the accurate handover of information both verbally and in writing between shifts.
- Experience in undertaking basic maintenance and/or delivering cleaning services.
- Commitment to promoting an environment, which has the highest regard for the Health and Safety of others.
- Able to demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding requirements and procedures.
- Commitment to working in a manner, which promotes diversity and equality ensuring that everyone is treated with respect and dignity and no one, suffers from discrimination.
- Personal and professional integrity.
- High-level understanding of professional boundaries and ability to maintain boundaries.
- Ability to work collaboratively.

About the role:
We are looking for Night Support Assistants to join our dedicated Youth Services team, supporting young people aged 16 and over in Greenwich. Working in a supported accommodation setting, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and nurturing environment for at risk young people and young people leaving care, helping them navigate their personal challenges and work towards their goals. Your presence and support at night are crucial to the overall wellbeing and development of the young people we serve.
In this role, you will oversee the overnight operation of our schemes, ensuring that the needs of each young person are met. You will be the first point of contact during the night, responding to incidents, emergencies, and any late-night activities. This responsibility is not only about keeping the service running smoothly but also about making a real difference in the lives of the young people in your care, building important nurturing relationships. Your guidance, compassion, and ability to handle situations calmly will empower them to feel safe and supported at all times.
The impact of this role is far-reaching, as you contribute directly to the success and safety of our service, helping young people overcome their challenges and make positive steps towards independence. Your work will ensure that the service continues to offer a stable, supportive environment where young people can thrive. As a Night Supported Housing Assistant, you will be at the heart of this critical support system, playing a pivotal role in both the day-to-day function of the service and the long-term growth and wellbeing of the residents.
Rota patterns:
Part time role at 21 hours p/w - Friday and Saturday, 10:00pm to 08:30am
Full time role at 42 hours p/w - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 10:00pm to 08:30am
Full time role at 42 hours p/w - Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, 10:00pm to 08:30am
About you:
- Proven ability of successfully working with vulnerable young people or young adults at-risk.
- Experience of working in a team delivering a quality customer focussed service.
- The ability to manage complex/challenging behaviours and adapt your approach according to those varying needs.
- Sound I.T and numerical skills.
- A flexible, resilient and thoughtful approach to your work.
