As our Communication Officer, you will:

• source and manage stories and other content from families of seriously ill children

Introduction to the Role

We are looking for a Research and Policy Officer (Maternity Cover) to join our expanding Policy and Research department, which also oversees the TDS Charitable Foundation. This is a pivotal role supporting our mission to improve standards in the private rented sector through impactful research, thought leadership, and policy engagement.
The successful candidate will play a key part in delivering our research programme, including overseeing flagship projects like the Voice of the Tenant and Voice of the Landlord surveys, and producing high-quality qualitative and quantitative research.

You will also support the smooth running of the Charitable Foundation’s grant-making and governance activities and contribute to our work influencing policy and practice across the UK’s private rented sector.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Research
1. Collaborate with external research contractors to deliver the regular ‘Voice of the Tenant’ and ‘Voice of the Landlord’ Survey.
2. Ensure the research findings are widely disseminated through different channels, including events, publications, briefings and digital content.
3. Help identify research gaps and contribute to the development execution of new research projects or commissioning of external research.
4. Conduct proactive desk-based research to identify emerging trends, new policy developments, and partnership opportunities relevant to the Foundation and the sector.
5. Undertake in-house research activities, such as literature reviews, focus groups, stakeholder interviews, where required.
6. Contribute to the drafting and production of high-quality research reports and briefings, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and relevance for policy and practice audiences.

Policy
7. Monitor and analyse relevant legislative and regulatory developments, consultations, and debates, identifying implications for the sector and TDS’s work.
8. Support the development of TDS’s policy positions by preparing briefings, drafting responses to consultations, and summarising evidence from research.
9. Help communicate TDS’s policy insights and positions clearly and effectively to internal stakeholders, partners, and decision-makers.

Charity co-ordination
10. Act as a key point of contact for grant-funded projects, supporting projects to share progress and impact, and identify any support needs.
11. Help to Coordinate the TDS Charitable Foundation’s quarterly Board of Trustee meetings, including preparing board papers, taking minutes, and following up on actions.

Demand for our specialist tutoring programmes for Children Looked After, those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) continues to increase and we are seeking an excellent addition to our team to support the increased demand for our provision and to support the continued scaling of our organisation.

The Organisation

Equal Education is a social enterprise working to improve outcomes and narrow the attainment gap for disadvantaged and under-resourced learners, including Children Looked After, those with SEND, and unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC). We have 13 years’ experience delivering 1:1 tuition, working with hundreds of schools and local authority partners across the country, reaching hundreds of pupils annually. 

As a member of the Fair Education Alliance, we believe in providing meaningful educational provision to students whose needs may not be best met within a traditional classroom environment, those who aren’t currently accessing education, or who benefit from additional 1:1 support. We work with over 200 qualified teachers to provide academic, subject specialised and individual tutoring and mentoring for children of all ages. These tutors provide pastoral care and work with pupils to increase engagement and attainment. Our programmes will help the students to overcome barriers to learning, help them build trusted relationships, increase their aspirations, and fulfil their potential. We are passionate about our cause and are looking for people who are motivated by a strong desire to address educational inequality and improve outcomes. 

Role Overview:

The Partnerships Administrator will be an integral part of our Partnerships team, providing essential administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the team. 

This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual with a passion for persuasive writing, as the primary responsibility will involve crafting compelling short-form bid applications for clients. It is essential that the post-holder has excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The Partnerships Administrator will also assist with key administrative tasks such as responding to client email and telephone inquiries, drafting impact data for client reviews, and attending ad-hoc events.

Key Responsibilities:

• Short Bid/Application Writing:

Join the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) as our E-learning Project Manager for the Radiology Integrated Training Initiative (R-ITI) — and help shape the future of radiology education across the UK and beyond.
We’re redeveloping one of the most respected radiology e-learning programmes in the world — R-ITI — and we need a driven, strategic and organised Project Manager to bring it to life.

In this 18-month fixed-term role, you’ll oversee the full lifecycle of over 300 digital learning modules. You’ll collaborate with the Learning Development Manager, the Learning Technologist and the e-learning faculty comprising Subject Matter Experts (SMEs – who are doctors) while undertaking the project to relaunch these essential resources on our new Learning Management System (LMS).

You’ll not only be supporting radiologists in their professional development but you’ll also play a key role is helping ensure the offering is financially sustainable, enabling us to reinvest in growing our influence and impact globally.

What you’ll do 

• Oversee the entire life cycle of selected R-ITI modules marked for redevelopment, from establishing SME groups to review and update content, to working with learning technology colleagues to produce and publish them on time and within budget on RCR’s LMS. 
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define project goals and objectives and provide support to the working groups whilst they redevelop the modules. 
• Develop detailed project plans including timelines, milestones, deliverables, and resource allocation.
• Be responsible for overall quality control of newly developed content by working collaboratively with SMEs and learning technology colleagues to create accurate, engaging and effective e-learning content for our members. 
• Lead cross-functional teams consisting of SMEs, internal or externally sourced e-learning developers, designers, and quality assurance testers.
• Be the main point of contact for stakeholders, providing necessary support, troubleshooting queries and ensuring strategically sound decisions are made.
• Manage project budgets and promptly report any potential spending variances to the Learning Development Manager. 

What you’ll need 

• Excellent project management skills with evidence of delivering complex projects to the highest of standards, on time and on budget
• Experience of working with busy stakeholders, especially those who work on a voluntary basis
• Experience of developing e-learning content and working with digital learning platforms
• Experience of collaborating with doctors or other medical professionals would be advantageous
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills to help negotiate, solve problems, and share knowledge with all stakeholders where needed

We are looking for a communications officer who can create  interesting and moving content about our dedicated teams and their patients and service-users. There’s plenty of material to work with - our district and school nurses, urgent community responders, rehabilitation therapists, health visitors and other clinical teams, save and change lives every day.

Managing our social media channels will be an important part of the role; you'll be familiar with Google analytics and other evaluation tools and will be comfortable translating analytics into narrative. Being able to manage your time effectively will be crucial - you'll be juggling various projects at any given time and will need to know what can wait and what needs to be prioritised.

Main duties of the job

• Creating content, managing and evaluating social media outputs
• Celebrating the work of colleagues internally via the staff bulletin, intranet and direct communication channels
• Creating content for the website and recognising appropriate news stories to share externally
• Attending events and providing photography and commentary
• Using Canva and similar design tools to create communications materials
• Managing the communications area on the staff intranet along with the news carousel and a number of corporate areas.
• Drafting internal messaging for all-staff communications.
• Advising colleagues on appropriate language for patient information.
• Deputising for the marketing and communications lead where appropriate.

This is a full-time post and is for 37.5 hours per week, although 0.8 FTE may be considered. The usual working hours are 9-5 and will be Monday - Friday.

You will be mostly based at Hollyfield House in Surbiton although you will also need to be able to travel to our other sites as needed, Surbiton Health Centre and Teddington Memorial Hospital. You will need to attend a limited number of events locally also.

As Head of Communications and Marketing you will lead the communications team to deliver a high-impact strategy to promote the work of the Foundation. You will manage the continuous evolution of the Foundation’s profile and brand, coordinating and delivering compelling content for a range of audiences across all channels.
