Our employability team deliver a suite of careers focused programmes and activities to school and university aged young people. We’re looking for a highly organised individual with a proven track record in event management to lead on the delivery of our residential conferences. Alongside our in-person residential activities this role will also coordinate some online activity for the Pathways to Medicine programme and a lead on a range of projects designed to enhance the impact of the Sutton Trust employability activities.
The post will report to our Senior Programmes Manager for Employability, working closely with the wider employability team, including line management of an intern/assistant and matrix management of team members when required.
Main duties
Designing and delivering the Trust’s residential conferences, currently one event per year for each Pathways programme (Law, Banking & Finance, and Engineering). This includes
- Organising and managing event logistics, such as venues, catering, facilities and accommodation
- Designing activities, content and timetables in line with the programme Theory of Change
- Ensuring residential conferences are risk assessed and run in accordance with latest health and safety guidelines
- Ensuring all activities are planned and delivered in line with safeguarding polices and best practice standards, maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all participants
- Overseeing all residential conference administration and pre-event processes, including attendee selection, communications, and requirement gathering
- Managing relationships and coordinating delivery with multiple programme stakeholders including university partners, employers, session facilitators and volunteer speakers

Responsibility for onsite delivery of each residential conference, this will include:

Dravet Syndrome UK (DSUK) is a small independent UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by Dravet Syndrome. Dravet Syndrome is a rare neurological condition that affects around one in every 15,000 people in the UK. Role Purpose
This role is focused on maximising comms-based engagement across the GDI Hub’s portfolio, supporting GDI Hub’s growing outreach and impact.
The post holder will work closely across GDI Hub comms team to support communications delivery across the organisational portfolio – with a focus on key regular outputs, creative content, websites, reactive queries and organisational communications. This role will involve both administrative tasks, and creative content generation, at an anticipated volume of 50% per area.
The post holder will also provide key communications and engagement support for the Disabled Leaders Network. Run by the GDI Hub, the Disabled Leaders Network is a member led, dynamic group of emerging global talent. Communications support includes digital events, managing social media and the network channels, and regular newsletters.
Across all elements of the role, the successful candidate will need to work collaboratively and dynamically. Responsibilities will include creative content generation, design, copy writing, film/photography, newsletters - alongside more administration and operational activities such as enquiry response, proof reading, and website updates. This role will work closely alongside members of the GDI Hub team, with some interactions with external partners, collaborators and stakeholders. This role will also support with event delivery – digital and in person.
We are looking for a candidate with strong administrative, communications and digital skills, including experience with social media and design. The candidate will need to deliver public facing communication outputs, while also building personable relationships. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment is essential, as it a streamlined, can-do approach.
