About the role
This role within our external affairs team focuses on securing impact for our work through the management and delivery of effective communications, events, campaigns and public affairs work.
This varied role involves management of L&W’s digital communications, press and media work, stakeholder relations and events throughout the year. The role also involves supporting the delivery of L&W’s flagship campaign, Get the Nation Learning, and supporting L&W’s public affairs work. The postholder will work closely with the senior management and research and development teams to develop and deliver effective communications and influencing strategies, and to support fundraising through sponsorship of our events and other communications activities. The role involves working with our team in Wales who lead on campaigns and activities in Wales.
The ideal candidate will need experience of working in a busy communications role; experience of developing and delivering in person and online events; a track record of building relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels; flexibility and adaptability; excellent project management skills; and an interest in adult learning, employment and skills policy.
Duties and Responsibilities
Communications
- Secure press and media coverage for L&W’s work, including proactively identifying opportunities to promote our work, responding to press and media enquiries, and working with colleagues to launch research reports and other outputs.
- Lead the development of regular and ad-hoc external communications, including press releases, newsletters and marketing communications.
- Manage our social media channels and website, producing regular, high-quality content.
- Ensure all activities are monitored and evaluated to assess impact and to inform future work.
Events
- Manage the planning and delivery of L&W’s in-person and online events, including our annual Employment and Skills Convention.
- Work with internal and external colleagues to develop content for L&W’s events, including securing high-profile speakers.
- Secure sponsorship for L&W’s events.
- Ensure all activities are monitored and evaluated to assess impact and to inform future work.
Campaigns
- Support the delivery of Get the Nation Learning, including national awards, Get the Nation Learning Week, and regional adult learning awards.
- Work with colleagues to secure sponsorship for Get the Nation Learning.
Policy and public affairs
- Support the planning and delivery of L&W’s public affairs activities, with a focus on UK Parliament, UK Government, Mayoral Combined Authorities, and local government in England, in order to raise our profile and deliver impact.
- Undertake regular public affairs activities, including: horizon scanning and planning for upcoming parliamentary activity; writing to Ministers and MPs; coordinating parliamentary briefings, parliamentary questions and consultation responses; and other policy influencing opportunities.
- Ensure all activities are monitored and evaluated to assess impact and to inform future work.
Other duties
- Line manage staff according to organisational need.

About you
Essential criteria:
- Excellent communication (oral and written), good copywriting, with the ability to tailor communications to a range of audiences.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Strong social media skills including the use of platforms such as Bluesky and LinkedIn, with proficiency in the use of web and social media analytics tools, such as Google Analytics.
- Basic design skills and familiarity with design software, such as Canva.
- Proficient in the use of CRM, email marketing and website editing software.
- Strong project management skills.
- Knowledge of the press and media, and how to secure coverage.
- Knowledge of, and commitment to, L&W’s charitable aims and purpose.
- Proven experience in a communications role.
- Experience of designing and managing events.

GUCE Communications Manager Role
Community Energy is gaining momentum nationally, where people are increasingly coming together to take control of their own energy supplies. Grand Union Community Energy (GUCE, pronounced “juice”) is looking to see communities along the Grand Union canal in Hertfordshire enjoy a clean and resilient energy system that benefits all. We develop, support and promote renewable energy and energy efficiency projects for local communities from Watford to Tring, and build householder resilience by helping them reduce their bills and energy use.
We are seeking a Communications Manager for one day per week. Depending on the skills of the applicant the same individual could also cover aspects of other roles we are looking to fill.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a person with experience in communications and marketing campaigns to join our small but expanding team. We are looking to extend reach, build our network and develop a stronger online presence across our different project areas.
The role will include the development and execution of a Communications and Marketing Strategy for the organisation. Alongside the strategic planning of our comms work, the role will also include creating materials and content for campaigns to engage members of the public, potential partners, funders and investors.
As our Communications Manager you will play a leading role in delivering our contribution to the two-year National Lottery funded project ‘Community Energy People’.
Key responsibilities will include:

Developing and executing a Communications and Marketing Strategy, to build GUCE's brand, support existing project events, hiring, volunteer opportunities, and initiatives.

Creating and sharing engaging content, including text images and videos that promote GUCE and its key values. This may include attending in-person events on occasion to capture content.

Terms and Conditions
Salary: Pro-rated salary for 1 day per week, £7,000 to £9,500 per annum (£34,000 to £47,000 full time equivalent) depending on experience plus 3% pension contribution.
Hours: 1 day per week (7.5 hours). The working hours can be flexible.
Location: Home-working, ideally within the GUCE catchment area from Watford to Tring.
You will need to travel to meet stakeholders, attend relevant meetings and visit potential sites. You may be called upon to work outside office hours.
Contractual arrangements: 12 months fixed term with the opportunity to extend, subject to 3 months’ probation.
There is a notice period of four weeks from both sides
Holidays: The equivalent of 28 days per annum excluding Bank Holidays, pro-rata for the part-time nature of the post.

Job Purpose
This role is a senior leadership team member and strategic lead for all corporate and consumer communications, member business engagement and marketing.
The relationship with our business community is essential to the success of The Fitzrovia Partnership (TFP) and the delivery of the organisation’s vision and it is a key part of our strategy to ensure that businesses are aware of us and the services and projects we deliver. As such you would be responsible for the delivery of member engagement.
You will lead the marketing and communications function and manage the Marcomms team, continually developing and implementing effective marketing and communications strategies clearly articulating TFP’s vision, aims, projects and services.
Finally, you will provide strategic oversight and development for:
· Member communication strategy including BID renewal communications
· Consumer communications and campaigns strategy
· Social, wellbeing, member event and training programmes
· All communications channels including newsletter, websites, social media
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Senior Leadership
· To play a role together with the CEO and the Director of Policy and Place in setting the overall vision of the organisation and ensuring delivery specifically in relation to the agreed business plan.
· Have a key role working closely with the Board and relevant sub-groups.

Member Engagement
· Driving, developing and ensuring implementation of the member engagement strategy.

Your role
We are looking for a talented person who has a strong skillset in leadership and formation for mission in theological education, people and team management and who is strategic. You will effectively lead on teaching design and delivery, developing our training programmes, growing the student body and building a healthy team, along with being part of a cross organisational team of programme leads in the CMS Britain Hub.

Reporting to the Regional Director, Europe and leading a small team, the Senior Programme Manager role will have oversight of the AI Opportunities Fund which CPI is running on behalf of Google . org.
Key Responsibilities and Core Competencies:
Programme Leadership and Delivery

Lead the successful delivery of the AI Opportunity Fund programme, ensuring timely, high-quality, and outcome-focused execution in line with the Fund’s ambitious targets

Lead a team who effectively collaborate with grantees and training providers across multiple regions, ensuring effective implementation of activities, proactive resolution of challenges, and sustained programme momentum

Identify and manage programme risks, embedding proactive mitigation strategies and enabling the team to navigate issues effectively

Deliver clear and consistent updates to funders and internal stakeholders through both written reports and verbal briefings
Strategic and Financial Oversight
-
Oversee programme budgets (€16m+) and financial performance, ensuring efficient resource allocation and alignment with funding requirements.

Collaborate with the Finance Team to review spending, analyse trends, and deliver timely financial reports, ensuring strong internal controls and full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements

Provide overall oversight of a range of contracts, including approving amendments, while supporting the team in managing day-to-day operations to ensure effective implementation and compliance.
Partner collaboration

Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with delivery partners, funders, and stakeholders to ensure aligned and collaborative programme delivery.

Represent CPIE with confidence and build trust in partner meetings, clearly communicating programme progress, impact, and financial performance.

Foster open, two-way communication at all levels and with partners to identify shared goals, address challenges early, and strengthen joint decision-making.
Monitoring, Reporting, and Learning

Track delivery milestones, outputs, and financial performance against programme goals using established project management and monitoring frameworks.

Collaborate with CPI’s Knowledge, Learning, and Impact team to analyse outcome data, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and clear communication to stakeholders.

Share insights and lessons learned with CPI leadership and Google . org to drive continuous improvement, support programme adaptation, and inform organisational learning.
Thought Leadership & Business Development:

Shape and drive strategies to scale and strengthen programmes, ensuring CPI’s work remains innovative, impactful, and aligned with emerging priorities.

Lead the development of strategic partnerships with funders and delivery partners, cultivating senior external relationships to support growth and collaboration.

Provide thought leadership by contributing to strategic planning, influencing sector dialogue, and representing CPI in key forums to elevate its voice and impact.

Develop public policy lessons and other insights from the Fund, to be utilised by CPI-E and/or Google . org

Qualifications:

At least 8-10 years of relevant experience. CPI welcomes a breadth of experience from individuals from service-oriented environments

A project/programme management qualification is desirable, but not essential with proven relevant experience

Experience of successfully managing complex programmes within grant making or the philanthropic space.

An understanding of good grant making practice that demonstrates the ability to effectively manage all stages of a grant making process

Experience in designing, implementing, or managing skills development and training programmes
