Role Overview: Knowledge in grant-funding, capacity building, organisational support

We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Charity Support Officer to help deliver AWN’s mission. You will be the first point of contact for grassroots charities, supporting them to strengthen their organisations and improve their chances of securing grant funding by offering practical guidance, signposting, and building trusted relationships that help them grow in confidence and resilience. The role includes helping organisations strengthen governance and compliance, sharing information on grant-funding opportunities, and supporting them to identify challenges and develop practical solutions.
 
The non-profits you will support work across a wide range of areas for example: women, health and wellbeing, youth, homelessness and poverty, family services, sports, faith groups, crime and gangs, prisoners and ex-offenders, refugees and asylum seekers, drug addiction, older people and rehabilitation, and many more. 
 
Bringing a strong awareness of the barriers facing small charities particularly Muslim-led groups, will be key to helping them build long-term sustainability and impact. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the first point of contact for charities and community groups, managing a varied caseload and balancing priorities. 

• Carry out needs assessments to understand organisations strengths, challenges, and funding needs, and develop clear action plans. 

• Provide tailored support, including health checks on governance, compliance, finances, and funding readiness, offering recommendations and signposting to specialist services (e.g., Cranfield Trust, CVS, Charity Excellence etc). 

• Advise on funding opportunities, strategy, and application readiness, with referrals to bid-writing support where needed. 

• Deliver workshops, webinars, events, and one-to-one sessions to build skills, knowledge, and confidence of UK grassroots organisations. 

• Work collaboratively with organisations and AWN colleagues (including via the triage and referral system) to identify challenges and develop practical, sustainable solutions. 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with charities, funders, and sector partners across the voluntary, public, and charity sectors. 

• Represent AWN at external events, conferences, and meetings, helping to organise and deliver events linked to your work. 

• Keep accurate records on the CRM, gather feedback, write case studies, and contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and service development. 

• Support AWN’s communications by contributing updates for the website and social media.

Essential Criteria 

• 3+ years’ experience within the UK charity sector (domestic, not solely international). 

• Strong understanding of charity governance, compliance, and the UK funding and grant-making landscape. 

• Insight into the needs and challenges of small and grassroots non-profits, with awareness of the systemic barriers affecting Muslim-led organisations. 

• Experience supporting or advising charities, community groups, or local networks to build capacity and resilience. 

• Ability to work collaboratively with organisations, offering constructive and practical guidance. 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with confidence in public speaking and engaging a wide range of stakeholders. 

• Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities. 

• Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.  

• Comfortable working autonomously and as part of a small team, with minimal supervision. 

• Confident using technology to deliver support and manage work effectively, including CRM systems, Microsoft Teams, and other digital tools. 

• Experience in one or more of the following areas: 
  - Community engagement and outreach 
  - Event or project coordination (online and in-person)

Programme Support Coordinator

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and organised Programme Support Coordinator to support the delivery of our Sport England funded national programme that empowers people with a learning disability to get active. You will work across 2 key projects:

· Our Active Community – supporting people with a learning disability and their communities to become more active.

· Mencap Active Community – helping to grow, engage and upskill a national network of stakeholders.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about health and wellbeing for people with a learning disability, with strong coordination and communication skills.

Mencap are a Sport England funded system partner, and this role is a full-time fixed term contract until end of March 2027. You will sit within the Active Communities team supporting the Programme Lead, Network Development Partner and 5 Community Partners.

What You Will Be Doing

· Liaise with Community Partners and support them with their Our Active Community workload. Tasks will vary but could involve asset mapping, attending forums, writing up meeting notes, creating Easy Read documents, and compiling newsletters.

· Liaise with the Network Development Partner to organise and support national forums, webinars, and learning events to share best practice and amplify lived experience.

· Support with our online platforms for Mencap Active Community, signing up stakeholders and keeping content up to date and engaging. This will include the development of inclusive resources, toolkits, and communications for national distribution.

· Provide coordination support for the delivery of our Learning Disability and Sport workshop in terms of bookings, liaising with tutors, co-trainers, attendees and capturing impact.

· Lead on our communications plan by creating content and promoting our work both internally and externally across various communication channels.

· Monitor our sports inbox and respond to general enquiry emails.

· Support monitoring, evaluation, and reporting processes, including data analysis, capturing learnings and creating case studies.

· Support the team with other responsibilities relevant to the role that may not be listed above.

Purpose of the Role

The role of the Project Officer – Legal Services (POLS) is to support the PBLS team’s mission to advance the UN SDGs by brokering pro bono legal assistance from legal experts in support of international NGOs globally. The JPU’s mission is to secure policy change that will reduce rates of miscarriage, stillbirth, pre-term birth and neonatal death, and to work to eliminate inequalities in these outcomes.

While there is widespread agreement on the need for change to improve the safety of maternity and neonatal services, what that change looks like is not clear.  To save more babies’ lives we believe that a continued focus is required, and that governments should set new commitments to reduce perinatal mortality and preterm births, focused on matching the best-performing countries in Europe.

This role will be crucial to the continued success of the JPU unit; leading, shaping and coordinating all the unit’s work.

We are a small lively charity promoting the personal development of year 12s in partner schools, through challenging activities that they design, plan and finally undertake adult-free. We invite students (individually or in groups) to develop their own challenges well outside their ‘comfort zones’, and to be responsible for every stage of the process. We are looking for an energetic, talented and reliable candidate for our schools’ outreach team, inspiring high-quality applications for funding from Year 12s in our 85 partner London state schools (20% of the total).  There is scope to help shape our strategy. The Role

As Director of Finance & Corporate Services, you will join the senior leadership team and have overall responsibility for finance, HR, digital, legal, risk and office management. Acting as Company Secretary, you will ensure compliance with Companies House and Charity Commission requirements, while providing robust financial leadership and high-quality advice to trustees, staff and stakeholders.

You will:

• Maintain strong financial controls, oversee budgeting, accounting and reporting.
• Lead on compliance, risk management and company secretarial duties.
• Manage HR and corporate services including recruitment, staff policies, payroll and office management.
• Oversee digital systems and lead special projects such as CRM development and office relocation.
• Line manage finance and administration staff and external suppliers.
• Contribute to the strategic leadership and growth of the Trust.

This is a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth running of the Trust’s corporate services, supporting the delivery of regeneration projects and enabling the park to flourish as a cultural, ecological and community landmark.

About You

We are seeking a qualified and experienced finance professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for working in a charity setting.

You will bring:

• A recognised accounting qualification.
• Experience of charity finance, including SORP, restricted/unrestricted income and small group accounts.
• Experience of managing corporate services (HR, IT, legal, compliance).
• Strong financial systems knowledge (Xero desirable) and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advise colleagues and trustees.
• A strong moral compass and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

About the Organisation

This Charity is a young and growing charity established to protect, manage and improve the park for the benefit of local people and visitors alike.

Following 25 years of community campaigning, the Trust took custodianship of the park in 2023 under a 125-year lease. Today, the Trust is leading a programme of investment, restoration and cultural development that will see the park thrive as a green, historic, cultural and recreational landmark.

We are seeking a qualified US Lawyer with significant expertise in financial services and pensions law to lead the organisation’s US-focused investor workstream.

The position is offered as a fully remote fixed-term contract, and is open to candidates based in either the UK or the USA.

This is a pivotal role aimed at advancing legal clarity around investor fiduciary duties within the US financial system. Working closely with colleagues in the UK, you will deliver a strategic programme of legal analysis and stakeholder engagement. This will include scoping and commissioning authoritative legal opinions, developing practical resources for investors, and building strong relationships with legal practitioners, institutional investors, regulators, academics and civil society organisations.

The role offers a rare opportunity to influence legal thinking and practice at the intersection of finance, law and the systemic risks posed by climate change and nature loss. The organisation does not litigate but instead demonstrates that existing legal frameworks already require action to address escalating risks, supporting investors and corporates in strengthening governance and aligning strategies with the transition to a sustainable global economy.

We are looking for a senior legal professional who is proactive, adaptable, and confident in leading a high-impact programme of work. You will bring a strong background in the US legal and regulatory system, with deep expertise in financial services regulation, fiduciary duties, or pensions law. You should have experience working with institutional investors, asset managers, pension funds or regulators, and the ability to translate complex legal concepts for a range of audiences. A demonstrated interest in the role of law in addressing climate and nature-related financial risks is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate Challenge Events

o Act as main contact with events management companies to coordinate our programme

o Encourage, support and monitor participants on their fundraising journey

o Manage production and distribution of event merchandise

• Fundraising

o Explore new fundraising opportunities to increase income and widen our supporter base

o Provide support/toolkits to volunteers who want to run their own events

o Research new technologies to streamline fundraising activities

o Represent the charity at community/fundraising events

o Reach out to suitable businesses for suitable support and donations

•    Marketing & Communications

o Plan and oversee marketing initiatives for TUK’s events and wider opportunities e.g. National Thrombosis Week and World Thrombosis Day

o Drive an effective social media presence

o Provide a prompt and enthusiastic response to fundraising enquiries across all channels

o Generate/update content for the website, social media and occasionally printed materials

o Liaise with designers, ensuring brand consistency across all channels

• Fundraising Admin

o Maintain accurate donor and income records, ensuring all invoices and payments are processed

o Promptly coordinate all donor correspondence such as acknowledgements, thank-yous, certificates and ‘good luck’ messages

o Provide a monthly fundraising overview to the CEO
