We need a new Director of Communications.  You’ll be responsible for helping us communicate the Gospel and the great work we do in our communities, and telling the good news stories that encourage and inspire us as we embark on our strategy to deliver the Diocesan vision to “bless the 1.5 million people” in our diocese who currently have no meaningful connection with our worshipping communities.  We need someone who can catalyse everyone in the diocese to be better communicators.

The successful candidate will have a wide-ranging experience of communication matters with the ability to promote our work in a positive and strategic manner, and manage media relations proactively and effectively.

The post is based at Church House, Daresbury, with some travel around the Diocese and the option for hybrid working with up to 40% working from home. A full driving licence and access to a car is essential.

Salary: £51,515 - £55,692 per annum, dependent upon skills and experience.

Due to the rapid expansion of Day One Trauma Support over the last three years, the charity’s infrastructure has needed to respond quickly to meet its changing demands. There is now a requirement to ensure that the Finance and Resources team has the right skill set and capacity to provide the support needed by the charity in an efficient and proactive way.

The HR Officer and Executive Assistant role is a newly created position to reflect both the growing HR needs of the charity as the workforce expands, and the executive support required by the CEO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure the efficient and effective running of the charity. This is a key role which is instrumental in bringing the HR and organisational administration functions together at an operational level.

Reporting primarily to the Director of Finance and Resources and assisted by an external HR and Employment Law support service, this role will provide advice, guidance and support to all line managers in HR related matters whilst building and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders throughout all levels of the organisation.  This will include support to ensure the efficient and effective management, monitoring and reporting of people metrics, from recruitment, development, retention through to attrition and at all stages of the employee life cycle.

About you:

Scope and Nature of Services

Relief International (RI) is a leading nonprofit organization working in 14 countries to relieve poverty, ensure well-being and advance dignity. We specialize in fragile settings, responding to natural disasters, humanitarian crises and chronic poverty. 

RI is seeking proposals from Microsoft App developers to develop an automated Travel Request Form (Lot 1) and Expenses Claim Form (Lot 2) within RIs Microsoft environment. The Forms will need to be able to populate relevant budget code data from RIs finance management system (Oracle Netsuite), use RIs single sign on (SSO) and MS Identity Service (EntraID) and preferably be able to work offline (sync’ing when the user has internet connectivity). Based on the data collected in the forms RI also requires a dashboard of relevant data to be generated using PowerBI (Lot 3).

Developers should bid for both Lot 1 and Lot 2 separately. The fees for Lot 3 (PowerBI) will be agreed with the successful bidder on completion of the initial scope of work related to Lots 1 and 2 and as such no quote is required for Lot 3 in this submission..

RI is open to revising its requirements based on recommendations from a developer where this can improve the functioning of the forms.

RIs IT department will be part of the developer selection process, and will review and sign off on all deliverables prior to any payment.

Lot 1: Travel Request Automation Requirements

A Travel Request (TR) form is to be created in Microsoft (MS) Apps, with an approval workflow automated using MS Automate, and using MS Lists if needed. It will be run on RIs SharePoint, and accessed the RI Sharepoint MyApps page. It can also preferably be used offline, with the data synchronising when a user has internet access. 

Any RI staff can access and create a TR and submit it for approval in the RI MS environment. The fields for the TR are defined in Annex 1. Note that Annex 1 is broadly based on the RI pdf Travel Request form (with some differences), which is available in Annex 5.

Once a TR is submitted for approval it obtains a system generated unique serial number and follows the approval process and subsequent actions as outlined in Annex 2.

Once a TR is approved a traveller receives an approved TR via email, with a link to a form they can save and/or print, which they use to book relevant travel.

Traveller draft and approved TRs will be available for a traveller to access at any time on a dashboard within the RI Microsoft environment that only shows those relevant to the Travellers RI email address.

Lot 2: Expenses Claim Form Automation Requirements

A form is to be created to support Expense Claims and Cash Advance Settlements, called the Expense Report Form (ERF). 

The ERF is to be created in Microsoft (MS) Apps, with an approval workflow automated using MS Automate, and using MS Lists if needed. It will be run on RIs SharePoint, and accessed the RI Sharepoint MyApps page. It can also preferably be used offline, with the data synchronising when a user has internet access. Any RI user with access to RI SharePoint can complete and submit this form. The ERF must be able to link with an approved TR (lot 1) in such a way that once a user has opened a new ERF they can point the ERF to a particular TR which then auto-populates relevant fields into the ERF (see Annex 3)

Once an ERF is submitted for approval it obtains a system generated unique serial number and follows the approval process and resulting actions as outlined in Annex 4.

Once a TR is approved a traveller receives an approved TR via email, with a link to a form they can save and/or print, which they use to book relevant travel.

Consultant Profile and Submission Requirements

RI is seeking a developer who

• Has significant experience with developing such automations within customer Microsoft systems
• Is registered as a consultant and can provide formal invoices against which payment will be made within 30 days of satisfactory sign off of work by RI

Proposals must include

• The developers CV, showing relevant experience with MS Apps, MS Automate, MS Identity Services, MS Identity Service (EntraID), MS Lists and MS PowerBI, as well as experience with integrating data from other systems (e.g. Oracle Netsuite)
• A supporting letter with
  • a fixed price cost for Lot 1 and Lot 2 separately, including any VAT
  • your hourly or daily rate for any additional work related to Lot 3
  • examples of similar work completed in the past 2 years
  • a proposed timeline for the work, which must include
    • at least 1 detailed scoping session with relevant RI staff to finalise the requirements
    • at least 2 review cycles by RI staff to ensure the final product meets RIs needs.

About the role

The Welfare Scheme Assessor will be a part of a small, but committed team with big ambitions that works cohesively and effectively together to get things done.

You’ll be an important and valued member of the team and, with the support of North Lincolnshire Citizens Advice, will be responsible for ensuring client focused outcomes are met in a pressurised environment.

You’ll be the first point of contact for residents applying for support from the welfare assistance scheme. You’ll offer applicants a holistic assessment designed to maximise household income, reduce expenditure and build greater financial wellbeing.

You’ll enable people to move as quickly as possible to problem resolution and to manage their essential needs so they are less likely to fall into debt and manage cost of living increases.

You’ll be responsible for making decisions on applications for financially based welfare support and will administer funds to households who would otherwise struggle to buy food or pay essential utility bills or meet other essential living costs.

You’ll enable people to take control of their financial wellbeing and signpost them to local statutory services and community groups that provide practical, social and emotional support.

Our Part-Time Fundraising Officer will support the organisation's fundraising joining a high performing team of fundraisers.

Job deliverables:

• Identify and maximise opportunities to raise unrestricted and restricted funds from small trusts and other funding bodies to ask for grants up to £10,000
• Plan, prepare and write compelling applications for funding
• Build relationships with trusts, foundations and other funding bodies that help Bipolar UK secure long-term funding and support
• Achieve income targets that support Bipolar UK’s strategic service delivery goals
• Keep accurate records on Salesforce CRM
• With the Trusts Manager, develop our ‘thank you’ processes and donor stewardship programmes
• Create reports and updates for donors that bring to life the impact of their support
• Meet regular deadlines and manage your own workload
• Develop excellent working relationships across Bipolar UK
• Develop and maintain your knowledge of the charity sector and fundraising environment, to keep up to date with changes
• Be administratively self-supporting

Background - Number Champions

We set up Number Champions in 2018 to transform the lives of children in state primary schools who struggle with numeracy or lack confidence in maths.  We employed our first staff member, our Head of Operations (HoO), in 2022 and our second, an administrator, in 2023.. 

We are the only charity systematically working in-person with young children in our field.  Early support will put children on track to achieve their full life potential in a world where some fluency with maths is an essential building block. Success in this one area can increase their self-esteem and their involvement in education as a whole. 

Now in our sixth year, we are working across 14 London boroughs in 32 partner schools, with over 110 In-School Volunteers supporting more than 300 children. We plan to increase these numbers each year. Our medium-term vision is to expand across London, while maintaining the highly positive impact we have achieved to date. 

We are proud to have received two national awards last year recognising the work of our volunteers, and we are currently shortlisted for a 2024 award.

Everyone at Number Champions is passionate about improving children’s educational and life chances. 

The Administrator role 

Our HoO has taken the lead in developing the charity and in giving us the capacity to expand further while maintaining quality of delivery. The administrator reports to the HoO and manages the bulk of the administration processes of the charity.  

The role is for an equivalent of 2 days a week, during school term-time only. It will be almost all remote, although you will be expected to attend occasional meetings in Central London (or possibly North London if that is more convenient for you). 

We intend the role to be permanent, but we are offering an 11-month contract September to July pending confirmation of funding. 

Impact on the organisation 

You will take on key responsibilities for administration and for contact with different groups of stakeholders. In a small professional team, you will have the opportunity to suggest ideas and to influence the development of the charity.

Core responsibilities 

• Manage the administration processes of onboarding volunteers and schools
• Gather, capture, and maintain the charity’s data in our management system
• Communicate with volunteers and with office and finance staff at partner schools
• Raise invoices
• Manage basic bookkeeping
• Assist in purchasing
• Provide occasional cover for other staff, as required
• Other activities as required from time to time to support the HoO, SRM, and charity.

Required skills and experience 

• Administrative or professional background
• Attentiveness to accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (and knowledge of Google Suite would be advantageous)
•  Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build productive working relationships remotely with staff, volunteers, and schools
• Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise
• Commitment to the mission of the charity to help young children with maths.

Basic bookkeeping experience is desirable but not essential.

Benefits 

25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays, prorated for a 2-day-a-week role. 

(Although the role is for only 39 weeks a year we will pay you for  33 days annual holiday reduced only by 2/5 for working 2 days a week.  This increases your take home pay by about 4% compared to also reducing holidays by 39/52 for weeks worked.)

Employer’s contribution to pension of 3%.

Independent Safeguarding Chair

You will have experience of leading and managing others in senior positions and of chairing complex meetings productively.

You will have up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding adults legislation and best practice and extensive experience or safeguarding in the public and/or voluntary sector.
