The Opportunity

JOB PURPOSE 

Reporting to the Director of People, the Head of People Services is responsible for leading the delivery of a quality and customer focused core people service to MSF UK. Regional Youth and Community Director
OASIS UK – Youth and Community (OCP)

Permanent, full-time post, 40 hours per week, inclusive of breaks 

Salary: £51,959 per annum (£54,669 p.a. London Weighting for London based staff)

At an exciting and key stage in our journey we have the opportunity for Youth and Community Directors to join our team supporting Oasis’ youth and community work in neighbourhoods in the following regions;

- London and South East (North, Central and South London and Kent - five local Oasis charities)

- North West (Greater Manchester – two local charities, and two regionwide youth violence contracts)

- North East (NE Lincs, Humber, Bradford and Sheffield – four local charities)

With accountability to the Oasis CEO for Youth and Community the role of the regional Youth and Community Director will have three main functions:

1 Strategic management oversight of local Youth and Community teams

2 Regional development, working alongside other functions within the Oasis family

3 Being part of the national Youth and Community leadership team

The Youth and Community Director will have strategic management oversight of local Youth and Community teams in the region, providing accountability and support to the local leaders and charity boards. This responsibility area falls into two categories; those the Director is directly responsible for, and those they are responsible for ensuring are carried out by those within their region.

An Oasis neighbourhood is a community movement and the joining together of all the work Oasis does in any one place, which could include foodbanks, debt advice centres, family support and advice services, healthcare, youth work, children’s work, alongside other Oasis activities in that community, including formal education through Oasis Academies.

The Youth and Community function of Oasis is responsible for the wider community work that takes place within Oasis neighbourhoods, working closely with the other functions of Oasis to outwork our vision. In relation to governance, Oasis Community Partnerships is the national charity, with each local team operating from their own local Oasis charity.

As Community Partnerships Manager, you'll be at the forefront of our fundraising efforts, generating income from our corporate partners and supporters in our community; fuelling our essential programs and pioneering pilot initiatives. Previous experience in a community or corporate fundraising role is not essential, but you must have the ability to network productively and pitch proposals to a variety of audiences.

The Income Generation and Communications department is a small but high-performing and ambitious team, working flexibly to support the charity’s frontline services. You’ll be joining a team that will give you the support to be successful, with the autonomy to develop your own role.

From time to time, you will need to represent the charity at events, support bids for contracts, and attend networking opportunities. This will mean occasionally working evenings, weekends or on your non-working days. We’ll give you notice of when this is required, and you’ll be able to claim your time back.

This role can be office based or predominantly remote to suit you (albeit there will be times when you need to be in Billericay or elsewhere in Essex).

We’re open to negotiating the working pattern with the successful candidate, to be as flexible as possible.

In order to be successful in this role you must have:

· Full driving license. Able to drive Hamelin vehicles as well as use of own car

· Experience of writing professionally and persuasively

· Experience of working across teams and influencing other Managers

· Experience of presenting complex information for a variety of audiences

· Great communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and credibility

· Bravery to challenge the status quo and embrace a continuous improvement approach

· The ability to understand complex information and analyse data

· ICT skills such as the MS Office suite

It would be great if you had:

· Formal qualification or training in fundraising, marketing, sales, bid writing or other fundraising disciplines

· Experience of building deep and beneficial relationships with businesses

· Experience of working with individuals with a learning disability or neurodiversity

· Experience of change management and service growth

Assignments would suit experienced qualified audit professionals with grant audit / management experience, ideally in a not-for-profit/ international development context

Role overview.

Complete international grant expenditure audits for a diverse range of projects (grant recipients) funded by international donor institutions ranging from emergency aid, to long term development in areas such as agriculture, health or infrastructure or technical research. Assignments are 1-3 weeks in length and based across the European mainland and the developing world. These are offered on an assignment by assignment basis, one to two months in advance.

Contractors can be based outside the UK 

Requirements

• Qualified ACA / ACCA or equivalent – 5+ years post qualified experience
• Grant management and audit and reporting experience with international institutions. Preference given to individuals that have worked on UN or EC grant assurance assignments
• Diplomacy and cultural sensitivity while working with a hugely diverse range of clients and beneficiaries
• A real interest in international development and associated funding structures
• Ideally professional/ fluency in a second language such as Spanish, German, French, Portugese
• Excellent communication, report writing and presentation skills in English.

• At least 5-10+ years of relevant audit experience
• Ability to work under pressure; Strong planning, organisational and time management skills
