The role is hybrid, so for full time hours would mean 40-60 percent of the time worked from our Bradford offices (2-3 days).

Context:

CAP is a national charity that is driven to help release people from debt, poverty and their causes through partnering with local churches.  We do this by providing a variety of services: CAP Debt Help, CAP Job Clubs, CAP Release Groups and CAP Life Skills.  We also help churches teach basic budgeting and money management skills through our CAP Money course.  Our debt help service involves holding client assets. CAP is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. The continued success of our work rests on a bedrock of vital background functions, which includes the finance department.

Purpose:

The finance department is going through an exciting period of transformation. Working alongside the Chief Financial Officer and the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis, this role will help shape the strategy and delivery of excellent forward-facing financial planning, statutory and regulatory reporting, costing and client asset management.

This role will be responsible for identifying opportunities for continuous improvement whilst driving efficiencies across the finance department. Taking ownership of providing potential solutions to enable us to strengthen our core financial processes, from both a systems and process perspective, whilst encouraging thought and challenge around our current ways of working.

This role will take accountability for the oversight and management control of the Finance Operations team, providing outstanding customer service to both our internal and external customers and stakeholders.

Accountabilities:

• Build and develop a strong finance operations function with robust internal and external controls through active line management and regular training

• Drive the annual statutory reporting process - developing a clear timeline, planning and negotiating with our internal communications team to deliver a high quality annual report for Trustee approval and sign off

• Lead the external audit process, negotiating fees, timetables and take the lead role in all meetings with the Audit Partner and their team. Use judgement to consider whether audit responses should be challenged or accepted. Prepare action plans and report audit findings to the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee.

• Oversee the CASS annual audit process, which includes negotiating fees, timetables and take the lead role in all meetings with the Audit Partner and their team. Use judgement to consider whether audit responses should be challenged or accepted. Prepare action plans and report audit findings to the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee. 

• Develop and deliver comprehensive and insightful regular balance sheet reporting and forecasting (capital expenditure, cashflow, liabilities and reserves) to support the financial sustainability of CAP, highlighting risks or opportunities to enable informed decision making by Executive Team and the Board

• Identify and implement process and system improvements, shaping and improving the effectiveness of the finance operations team. 

• Take the leading role in the finance ledger system replacement procurement, design & implementation

• Provide support to ensure key operational and financial targets are delivered

• Develop, recommend and implement cash and capital management systems and reporting

• Provide assessments of capital expenditure business cases and strategic opportunities to support and influence decision making

• Support the month end and annual accounting processes to ensure accurate reporting of the financial performance

• Advise the Chief Financial Officer on technical areas of expertise, undertaking research as required, in particular financial reporting, VAT and tax.

• Provide financial accounting advice and support to the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis in the preparation of budgets

• Submission of all mandatory external surveys and reports as required by deadlines (ONS, FCA etc)

Carers Manchester is a partnership of Statutory and Voluntary Sector organisations who work together the plan, enhance and deliver advice and support services for unwaged carers in the city. Budget Management:

• Manage the budget for gaming and influencer marketing initiatives, ensuring optimal allocation of resources in line with operational needs.
• Ensure cost-efficiency and return on investment for game projects.

Wishgranting:

• Support connections to help grant wishes for children with gaming-related wishes by establishing relationships with industry partners, networks and individuals who can help.

• Liaise with course leads to confirm training details

• Book venues for in person training courses, and set up online sessions in Zoom
• Distribute feedback from training courses to course leaders
• Support the organisation and smooth running of conferences, meetings and events. To include front of house duties such as greeting attendees, organising refreshments as required.

Communications

• Support the implementation of our social media strategy including gathering posts from relevant colleagues, proofreading, adding images and hashtags, and overall management of our LinkedIn page and presence.
• Support colleagues with the design, publication and dissemination of Camden Learning communications.

Other

• Liaise with schools, Camden council and other partners to ensure the smooth running of Camden Learning’s services and operations

This innovative organisation are seeking a high-performing Financial Controller to be a key leadership figure within their London-based Finance team. Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, you will take on a broad remit, overseeing and managing the financial operations, accounting, and treasury functions. Key Responsibilities:

You will: 

· Oversee contracted habitat surveys including National Vegetation Classification (NVC) surveys across the Reserve. 

· Undertake habitat condition assessment surveys and woodland Herbivore Impact Assessments (HIAs). Oversee contracted dwarf shrub heath and blanket bog HIAs. 

· Undertake protected species surveys, including but not limited to otter, water vole, red squirrel, pine marten, badger and bat surveys. 

· Undertake breeding bird surveys, including upland wader surveys. 

· Oversee contracted ecological river surveys. 

· Undertake Invasive Non-Native Species surveys, including plants and mammals.

· Proven comprehensive knowledge of Scottish habitats and species experience 

· Significant experience in ecological surveys/monitoring, ideally including habitats, birds and protected mammals

About Southwark Charities

With a history of over 400 years, Southwark Charities provides affordable housing giving older people the opportunity to live independently in a safe, secure, and supportive environment. We also provide grant funding to a wide range of community organisations and charities working with older people in Southwark. We have a thriving membership programme to help enrich older people’s lives, support their health and well-being and tackle isolation.

Due to our prudent financial management our investments and varied income portfolio yields an annual operating budget of £1.9 million each year. Of this, we distribute around £500,000 in grants, a figure set to increase to approximately £1 million by 2029. In addition, we pay modest annual grants to around 200 individual members and organise a wide range of activities—such as theatre outings, day trips, and community events—for both almshouse residents and our wider membership community.

On completion of our new almshouse we will be providing affordable office space for like-minded organisations.

We are proud of our long history of service to Southwark’s older people and are committed to ensuring our organisation is well positioned to meet future challenges, including property expansion, increased grant-making, and a growing programme of resident and community engagement.

Our organisation currently employs a small but dedicated team of four:

• Clerk/Chief Executive (FT) – due to retire in November 2028.
• Operations Manager (FT) – appointed three years ago to free up the Clerk so they could oversee a major building programme.
• Grants Officer (FT) – currently manages ~£500k in grant giving (expected to rise to ~£1m by 2029) and provides administrative support to another charity.
• Membership Officer (0.8 FTE) – supports and organises activities for ~250 local people.

In the coming years, we face several organisational changes:

• Leadership transition with the retirement of the CEO (2028).
• Expansion of our property portfolio by 30 additional units on completion of a major works project, with the potential of a further site of 18 homes coming into our management and the rental of affordable office space.
• A possible second redevelopment of an existing site
• Growth in our grant-making capacity (from £500k to ~£1m annually).
• Expansion of membership support, resident engagement, and facility management responsibilities.

Objectives

We seek to engage an HR consultant to provide advice and proposals on the following:

1. Staffing Structure Review
   • Assess the current organisational structure and workforce capacity.
   • Review roles and functions through one-to-one interviews for clarity, overlap, and efficiency.
   • Benchmark against similar organisations.
2. Skills Audit
   • Identify current skills, gaps, and training needs across the team.
   • Recommend professional development opportunities.
3. Future Planning
   • Develop short-term (2025–2027) and medium-term (2028 onwards) staffing models.
   • Provide options for succession planning, particularly in light of the CEO’s planned departure.
   • Advise on HR implications of property & services expansion, increased grant-giving, and membership growth.
4. Practical Options & Recommendations
   • Present at least 2–3 structural options with cost implications.
   • Improvements to HR processes and systems
   • Any potential risks, concerns or obstacles and solutions to overcome them
   • Suggest phased implementation plans to align with organisational growth.

Are you looking to apply your administrative skills in a role that truly makes a difference? We have an exciting opportunity for an Employee Access Assistant and Driver based near Stevenage, although the role benefits from hybrid working, networking and local travel will be required in a professional setting.

In this role, you’ll support a visually impaired Guide Dogs Employee and Guide Dog owner, helping them perform their duties effectively through a mix of remote and in-person support. In-person support will be required once or twice a week locally in Stevenage involving tasks such as providing sighted guidance to navigate unfamiliar environments, helping with access to systems on a laptop, or describing the layout of rooms at events.

Your Microsoft Office expertise will be put to great use as you assist with a variety of administrative tasks, including document formatting, PowerPoint presentations, and note-taking. Your eye for detail will ensure that all documents are clear, accessible, and well-organised.

You’ll also help with travel arrangements as and when required, including collecting the employee and their guide dog from home and going to a train station or providing a travel from their home to various Guide Dogs sites. A full, clean driving license and access to a vehicle are essential, equipment to allow the guide dog in the car will be provided and travel expenses are covered. You’ll provide sighted guidance, ensuring the employee can navigate unfamiliar environments with confidence. As the employee is a Guide Dog owner, being comfortable with dogs and helping with their care, such as exercise, will be part of the role as well.

Your excellent communication skills and person-centred approach will be key in building a close, trusting relationship with the employee. Flexibility will also be crucial, as you’ll need to adapt to changing tasks and demands.

This role requires the ability to work under pressure and take initiative, managing your workload efficiently. Whether assisting with travel, preparing documents, or providing sighted guidance, your proactive attitude and organisational skills will be key to your success.

You will be fully trained in tasks such as sighted guiding and how to work confidently around a Guide Dog, ensuring that you feel supported and equipped, even if you haven’t had experience in this space before. The role is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Occasional flexibility will be required to work outside of core hours, including weekends and overnight stays.

You will play a key role in ensuring that Camden Learning captures and uses data to drive service development and operate more efficiently. This is a newly created position which will support the implementation and ongoing development of a new CRM system, as well as optimising the other systems and platforms we use. You will support teams and wider stakeholders to get access to the data they need by running reports, undertaking basic data analysis and presenting data in an easy to understand way. You will also ensure our ordering processes are as straightforward as possible for our school members and customers, and support with their orders as required.

CRM

• Working alongside our development partner, support the successful implementation of a new CRM system

• Set up and own the processes by which schools place orders for services
