Job description

Transitions UK is an exciting and growing charity, currently working across Herts, Beds, Bucks, N London, S Birmingham and Leicester. We were specifically set up 7 years ago to address the needs of a “lost generation” of 15-25 year olds. Needed more than ever, we work with young people with learning disabilities, mental health & emotional issues, young people leaving care and those at risk of offending/exploitation.

Hub Coordinator, Attain Project, Central Bedfordshire

– Young People Leaving Care -

25 – 37.5 hours per week to suit, £21,450 to £24,000 pro rata

We are seeking a Coordinator to run our Hub in Central Bedfordshire, supporting 15-20 young people. Attain has been running for a number of years in adjoining counties.

You will recruit, deploy, co-ordinate and support a team of around 20-25 volunteer adult mentors. The Project supports beneficiaries through a two- year transition programme, helping them to make an effective journey towards independence, adulthood and a positive lifestyle and future.

You will work from home, from our office in Breachwood Green and within the community. YP are based around South Central Beds including Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard, Biggleswade.

You are an excellent organiser, team leader and communicator with a hands-on approach. Ideally you will have experience of care and care leaving, either personally or professionally. A key part of the role will be helping to develop stronger links with businesses and the wider community to create opportunities for YP - and then supporting adult mentors to help young care leavers to make the most of them and attain their potential. You will help YP with personal life planning and personal and skills development. You will be excited by the opportunities in a charity and project which are needed more than ever and determined to achieve excellent results for the young people we support.
