Role Summary

To support the development and delivery of community investment projects that deliver successful, measurable outcomes for TCH residents and communities, often working in conjunction with other TCH teams and external partners to achieve those outcomes.

The projects will focus on our key Community Investment Strategy themes; currently: tackling poverty and inequality; embedding well-being; customer co-creation and sharing power; community activities and programmes.

The role links with others across the organisation including our internal Customer Insight and Resident Engagement teams to understand our communities and supports our wider housing teams to deliver initiatives for the benefit of our residents.

The office base would depend on applicant. The successful applicant would need to travel between the different offices when required.

Role Specific Responsibilities

• Support the development and delivery of existing and new projects, initiatives and services that meet the aims of the Community Investment Strategy.
• Ensure these projects are outcome focused, that programmes/services are responsive to residents’ needs and reflect best practice and corporate priorities and meet regulatory expectations.
• To co-ordinate Community Investment projects and activities working in conjunction with residents, the wider organisation, contractors, and community partners.
• Support the effective monitoring and evaluation of community investment projects, ensuring that monitoring returns are received in agreed timescales and are accurate and outcome focused. Produce relevant performance reports and data as required.
• To provide support for the effective brokerage, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of social value across TCH contracts.
• Use customer data and insight to support our Community Investment work and to help build links with sections of the community who are not currently accessing our services.
• Attend networking and best practice groups as required. Maintain awareness of relevant government legislation and sector best practice and use this to inform your work on local activities and initiatives.
• Support the Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) process, helping to develop and monitor project briefs, donation frameworks, and grant funding (when grant processes are open), that respond to social needs and include measurable milestones, outputs and outcomes, budget management, risk mitigation and procurement. Manage service level agreements and freelance contractors.
• In conjunction with colleagues ensure that all areas of service delivery are effectively monitored and evaluated via the application of impact assessments, key performance indicators, social value outcomes and value for money reporting.
• Contribute to the review and development of systems, processes, and services to support TCH’s customer experience and service improvement aspirations, including through learning from complaints and feedback, and implementing change.
• Support our 3rd sector charity partners in ways that help them meet our residents’ needs, including supporting them to understand need and priorities based on data and resident insight.
• In conjunction with your manager and the PR & Communications Team promote community investment and social value projects, and outcomes. To demonstrate to residents, colleagues, and other stakeholders how we make a positive contribution to the neighbourhoods in which we work, that we listen to residents’ views and act on them and how projects and initiatives demonstrate our approach to treating residents fairly and with respect.

We are a small, highly experienced team who share a passion to support the wellbeing and mental health of children and young people across Surrey.  This is a key new role in the Major Relationships unit to support the CEO and Major Relationships Lead in major donor fundraising, an area which has grown in recent years.  This locally based post will enhance the prospect pipeline and facilitate the cultivation of major donor prospects, which will help towards meeting the objectives and financial targets for major donor fundraising. The role will cover three main areas of responsibility: Research, Events (organisation/co-ordination) and Admin. This position requires discretion, confidentiality and administrative judgment.

The Major Relationships unit works alongside Grants, Corporates & Community as well as Individual Giving, as part of the wider Engagement (fundraising/marketing) team at Eikon. 

Responsibilities   

1. Research   

• Identify and prioritise potential major donor prospects in Surrey and beyond, who would be capable of making significant contributions and seem likely to have the propensity to donate i.e. to become major donors. 

• Produce high quality, tailored and insightful research on major donors.  

• Look at current supporters (all different types/levels) with good contacts/connections/networks and conduct research in order to suggest ways to reach new high net worth individuals across Surrey. 

2. Event organisation/co-ordination 

• Organise/coordinate internal and externally run events such as dinners, drinks receptions, sporting events. 

• Attend key events - approx. 5 each year and sometimes evenings/weekends – welcoming guests and ensuring a positive experience. 

• Join the CEO and/or the Major Relationships Lead at specific meetings with MDs/MDPs, occasionally evenings/weekends. 

 3. Admin 

• Day-to-day support for MDs, MDPs and key influencers (KIs) which could include:  

• General stewardship including thanking and processing information on Sharepoint and Donorfy (Eikon’s database). 

• Regular communication including calls, meetings and sharing reports, presentations and other updates. 

• Database admin, including checking opportunity pipelines and reporting requirements. 

• Supporting individuals or small groups who are fundraising for us e.g. how to set up and promote a JustGiving page. 

4. Marketing, Communications and relationships  

• Support and liaise with the Marketing and Communications team to deliver relevant and effective content and materials, as well as maximising social media opportunities.

You will need to develop a strong grasp of our mission and an understanding of the different expressions of the Christian faith. The person we are seeking is an experienced fundraiser with the confidence yet sensitivity to build strong relationships with our donors and donor prospects. We already have a loyal support base and we are looking for someone to build on this goodwill, to help us to grow our income and generate new donors.

We need someone to secure ongoing support from trusts and grant-making bodies, and secure funding from new sources. You will have excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail and a willingness to learn. You must also be able to work collaboratively internally and externally and have a positive, pro-active ‘can-do’ attitude.

About the role

Your key purpose will be, in the absence of and alongside the Shop Manager, to manage a team of volunteers to maximise sales, deliver excellent customer service and ensure that the shop premises and assets are maintained to a high standard, according to legal requirements and Shooting Star Children’s Hospices (SSCH) policies and procedures

About you

This role requires experience of assisting in managing a shop including knowledge of retail and health and safety legislation and administrative/cash handling experience.

You will also have an ability to deal with customers and maintaining a high level of customer service, have good verbal, written communication skills, as well as being comfortable using IT and EPOS reporting. You will have an ability to motivate yourself and others, have excellent organisational skills and be comfortable working under pressure and dealing with changing priorities.

We are looking for a talented fundraiser, with a background in the cultural sector to join the Gardens, Libraries & Museums (GLAM) Team within the Development and Alumni Engagement team of the University of Oxford.

You will be working with such iconic institutions as the Pitt Rivers Museum, the Oxford Botanic Gardens, the History of Science Museum and the Oxford University Museum of Natural History.  In this role in any given week you might see a dodo, extraordinary thousand-year old Chinese ceramics, insects collected by Darwin, the first scientifically described dinosaur and drawings by John Ruskin, as well as work on projects involving saving the largest flower in the world or supporting world-leading restitution work.

The collections are important and renowned on their own accounts, but also play a key role in the University’s research.  In addition, they are the open doors to the University of Oxford, encouraging a diverse range of communities to engage our academics and curators.

Your role will include fundraising for major gifts to support the museums and gardens, and leading a team of fundraisers who will work to support a wide range of activities across the institutions.  You will also work closely with the Directors and other curators to raise funds from a range of donors and supporters. You will work with the Associate Director of Development – GLAM to develop strategies and manage relationships with the Directors and be part of the wider fundraising team for GLAM.
