We are looking for an experienced fundraiser, to lead on fundraising in the Department of Physics, as part of the friendly team working across the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences (MPLS) Division.
The Department of Physics is one of the top five departments in the world. Our academics observe the wonders of the Universe from the very big to the very small: from seeking planets with the potential for life outside the solar system, to undertaking some of the most delicate experiments in quantum physics. Physics has applications in so many fields, including biology and nanotechnology, to find new ways to treat cancer; the development of new materials to generate green energy; and the understanding of climate science, with its impact on the Earth. The Physics Department is active in developing these applications in part through a strong innovation culture that has created nine new companies since 2018 and with six more in the pipeline for 2024. The Department has a deeply embedded ED&I culture.
About the role:
You will be raising money to support research; to enable students from around the world and from every background to come and study at Oxford; and to help promote the public understanding of Physics. You will work closely with the Head of Physics, as well as some of the most inspiring scientists in the world, and will forge relationships with existing and new donors to the department. While an interest in science is essential, you do not need to be a Physics graduate, just an enthusiast for knowledge.
About you:
You are an experienced development professional with a strong track record of securing major gifts, a confident approach and the ability to think creatively. You will lead on major gift fundraising (£100k-£1m+) working with a range of donors (corporates, trusts and individuals). The department has a well-established alumni programme and a very active and supportive development board that you will work closely with.

The role
We are seeking a fundraiser or an experienced account manager who relishes the excitement of exceeding income targets and developing strong relationships. You will identify opportunities to increase the value of your partnership portfolio and work closely with the Corporate Development Team to ensure the transition between new business and account management is seamless for both FareShare and our partners.
You will manage a portfolio of partners: designing and delivering tailored partnership plans and an innovative and personalised suite of partnership activity. You will work with colleagues across fundraising to ensure we maximise the value of our partnerships. We currently have partnerships with a large variety of exciting brands from Tesco to Oliver Bonas, McDonalds to Subway, Kellogg’s to Pink Lady apples and Bloomberg to Burberry – our partners support us in a variety of ways including cause related marketing campaigns, staff and customer fundraising, corporate donations and wider sponsorships and partnerships.
To be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record of excellent partnership/relationship management and ideally have experience of delivering a variety of fundraising partnerships including commercial brand licensing. You will have excellent communication skills and will be comfortable negotiating bespoke deals and benefits packages and will lead renewal plans to secure and grow the support of current partners.
Cross team collaboration is crucial to the role and you will be able to demonstrate strong relationship building and influencing skills.
Main areas of responsibility
1. Deliver first rate account management of corporate partnerships and promotions with existing corporate partners to achieve objectives and build excellent relationships that facilitate future growth.
- Provide a high standard of professional relationship and account management to a portfolio of partners, delivering a mix of partnership types including; Charity of the Year, commercial brand partnerships/campaigns and retail partnerships
- Working with the Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager and wider team to implement bespoke cultivation and stewardship strategies for each corporate partner, that encourage development of strategic, multi-faceted partnerships thinking creatively and entrepreneurially to maximise the value of each partnership and meet agreed targets and KPIs
- Ensure FareShare’s strategic priorities are addressed through our partnerships and that the brand is protected and appropriately valued
- Prepare and deliver engaging and confident presentations (both at one-to-one level and at a much larger scale)
- Establish, agree and monitor key milestones for each relationship
- Ensure that benefits are fulfilled and delivered on time
- Monitor and maintain systems and processes; including Salesforce database, financial accounting, pipeline, contracts and due diligence.
2. Work closely with internal project teams to maximise the potential for fundraising
- Work with the Corporate New Business function on the development of new partnerships and to ensure a smooth transition from new business to account management
- Work with other areas of Fundraising, the Food Team and Operations Team to maximise possibilities for partners and FareShare and to report to partners in a timely manner
- Work with Marketing and Communications Team to promote partnerships across FareShare and partner channels.
3. Legal, Compliance & Policies
- Efficient and effective management of commercial income activity ensuring compliance with GDPR, legal and charity regulation and FareShare’s own Ethical Gift Policy
- Manage all legal and financial aspects of partnership agreements
- Manage and work within FareShare’s IT systems and data guidelines
- Represent Fundraising where required on internal working groups
- Undertake training and skills development and keep up to date with the changing requirements of the role
- Undertake other duties as required

The Philanthropy & Partnerships Manager will work with the Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships to manage and develop the Major Donor, Mid-Value and Corporate pipelines, along with instrumental work with our Special Events Manager on high-value campaigns and events. This includes our annual matched-funding campaign, The Winter Ball and the Noah’s Ark Golf Day – which last year raised £1m, £400,000 and £104,000 respectively. The post-holder will be key in taking the Philanthropy & Partnerships programmes to the next level, securing new Corporate Partnerships, increasing multi-year gifts and supporting the Philanthropy & Partnerships Fundraiser to work to the same end with their portfolios.

About you
To succeed in the role, you should have:
- Proven experience of showcasing the impact of a charitable organisation for an audience of high-level donors, preferably in a medical science context, to foster repeat and lifelong support.
- Proven experience of producing high specification documents for a discerning readership, encompassing experience in copy writing, desktop publishing including InDesign and the effective use of images.
- Demonstrable project management experience, preferably in producing short and longform written materials from conception to delivery, in both digital and hard copy formats.
- Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders towards a common goal.
- Ability to work autonomously and deliver high quality work to a deadline.
- Familiarity with fundraising databases such as OneCRM and Raiser's Edge databases, would be a valuable bonus.

The Role
As Major Gifts Manager, you will bring your expertise in Major Gifts for to the small Philanthropy Team, successfully cultivating and winning major gifts in line with agreed annual targets and the Fundraising Strategy.
You will work with the Senior Philanthropy Manager to evolve and continuously improve major gift activity, including stewarding current donors and helping to secure new major gifts from Trusts, Grant Giving Orgs and Major Donors
Responsibilities will include:
· Proactively identifying and delivering new fundraising donors and income growth opportunities within Major Gifts.
· Personally securing, and stewarding a portfolio of active Mid-Value, Major Donors and Charitable Trusts, forging and maintaining strong and enduring relationships.
· Writing and communicating compelling cases for support, for a range of programmes requiring support – including international programmes, UK welfare and capital.
· Interpreting and communicating complex programme outcomes and impacts to deliver compelling and transparent donor reports.
· Supporting and growing the Major Gift cultivation pipeline and stewardship to grow funders’ understanding of the diversity of the charity’s work.
· Delivering and reporting on targets and KPIs.
· Working closely and in partnership with internal stakeholders, building positive working relationships to deliver the Major Gift Roadmap.
· Leading on several stewardship, cultivation and communication projects that will help identify and steward Major Gift and Individual Giving donors to increase the size of their gifts.
About You
You will have previous working experience of managing, cultivating, and delivering major gifts, and of planning future major gifts pipeline, along with:
· Demonstrable track record of meeting and exceeding personal fundraising targets.
· Track record of building excellent stewardship and successful relationships with supporters at all levels including high net worth supporters, charitable trusts and other major donors.
· Experience of managing complex donor-centric projects, involving multiple stakeholders.
· Well-developed knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, and interpretation of programme performance, and of project budget management/reporting.
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
· Able to multi-task and work with several conflicting demands and timescales.
· Excellent copywriting skills, experienced in creating compelling bids and reports to agreed timeframes. Success in major gifts in one or more of animal welfare, international development or UK capital.
Flexibility will be required for travel within the United Kingdom to meet supporters and donors; therefore a full, valid driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.

Lady Margaret Hall is seeking an Associate Development Director (Major Gifts). This is a senior position within the Development Team reporting to the Director of Development. The Associate Development Director will manage a portfolio of 100 or so prospects and donors, some of whom we have little contact with, and others who will be engaged. They will be a front-line fundraiser who will spend a considerable amount of time meeting with alumni online and in person in the UK (mainly London and Oxford) as well as independently developing pipelines.
This is an exciting time to join the team. Lady Margaret Hall is in the early stages of a major fundraising campaign in the lead up to our 150th anniversary in 2028 and we are looking for a motivated, confident and passionate fundraiser to join the team and assist the Director of Development with major gifts fundraising from the growing pipeline of qualified and unqualified prospects. The Head of Major Gifts is a new role in a growing team and will play a crucial role in the development of KSS' income from high-net-worth individuals. This exciting role will build on the foundations we have built over the last two years, where we have secured over £1M from major donors and will create our Major Gifts programme going forward.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop a major giving strategy and programme to continue the growth of this new income stream.
- Initiate, build, increase, and manage relationships with a portfolio of existing and prospective philanthropists who can give donations in excess of £10,000.
- Grow the major donor pipeline by identifying high-net-worth prospects, utilising support from the Philanthropy Coordinator, stakeholder mapping and database wealth screening.
- Develop compelling communications and proposals based around the donor's interests and motivations and make powerful asks that inspire gifts.
- Plan and deliver a range of cultivation and acquisition events (with the support from the Events Team), and other creative ways to engage existing high value donors and prospects.

About the role:
This role aims to ensure that Vision North Somerset has growing income from community fundraising and that the charity has a growing volunteers cohort to support local people with visual impairment.
