The Role
Work with the Head of Mass Fundraising to develop the community and events portfolio, including the development of new products.

Identify and cultivate relationships in the local community to generate new income from audiences including schools, community groups, local corporates, and mid-high value individual fundraisers.

Line manage, motivate and develop the Mass Fundraising Officer.

Continually develop community and events supporter journeys to give our fundraisers a memorable and meaningful experience and encourage repeat fundraising.

The Candidate

About the Role

The MENA Death Penalty Caseworker will undertake a range of activities in support of Reprieve’s work on cases of individuals on death row or at risk of the death penalty across the MENA region, including casework and investigations into individual cases and the broader death penalty landscape, support to Reprieve clients, and support to partner organisations and lawyers in the MENA region and beyond. The MENA team’s work is diverse and constantly evolving to shape, respond to, and anticipate changes in the domestic and regional death penalty landscape. Meet your Manager

In this role you will be managed by Sebastien De Menthon who is a Philanthropy Manager and joined ClientEarth in 2022, based in London. Sebastien discovered ClientEarth while studying anthropology and law at university. The high-leverage legal approach to achieve tangible progress on the climate and biodiversity crisis was immediately appealing. Since joining ClientEarth as a Philanthropy Officer, Sebastien has progressed to the Philanthropy Manager position where he supports and oversees two members of the Philanthropy Team. He has found that working in the Philanthropy Team has been a fantastic way to support ClientEarth's mission while learning about the world and developing skills in relationship management and communication. 

Main Duties

• Actively manage donor relationships across assigned portfolio of largely UK supporters with first class stewardship and reporting to secure renewals and uplifts of approximately £1m per annum.
• Develop the pipeline of new donors through effective prospect research, network mapping and connecting with new contacts at external and internal events as a representative of ClientEarth
• Support the Philanthropy Manager, Philanthropy Lead for Europe and all the Philanthropy team to create the conditions for success in the European Philanthropy Team. Collaborating with colleagues across Europe inclusively to achieve shared goals, strengthen processes and model ClientEarth’s core values of courage, collaboration, integrity and care
• Keep up to date with fundraising trends and ensure these are worked into internal activities and planning
• Build a strong network of internal relationships across programme teams to facilitate engagement between legal staff and donors

About the role

The Head of Fundraising and Development role is pivotal within the New Horizon Leadership Team, responsible for driving forward fundraising efforts and managing a small, dedicated team. This role involves developing and delivering a sustainable income strategy, ensuring high-quality stewardship for our donors, and contributing to the overall success of New Horizon Youth Centre.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement a sustainable income strategy across all fundraising streams. Collaborate with the Operations Director and Heads of Services to create compelling funding proposals.
• Income Generation: Achieve annual income targets and build a pipeline for future sustainable income. Oversee the submission of high-quality funding applications and manage fundraising activities with corporates, individuals, and events.
• Stewardship and Relationship Management: Provide excellent stewardship to donors, manage key fundraising relationships, and ensure effective fundraising systems and processes.
• Team Leadership: Support and lead the fundraising team, providing clear objectives, supervision, and development opportunities. Foster a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.
• General Duties: Uphold the values of New Horizon Youth Centre, follow organisational policies and procedures, and contribute to the Leadership Team's success.

About you

You will be passionate about the work and mission of New Horizon, and combine this with some previous experience of fundraising across multiple income streams. You will bring:

1. Proven experience in meeting financial targets within a fundraising or sales environment, ideally across multiple disciplines.
2. Successful track record in building relationships with foundations, corporate partners, and high net worth individuals, securing six-figure gifts.
3. Strong understanding of and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
4. Excellent written and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex arguments effectively.
5. Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a fundraising team and volunteers.
