Job description

Crisis is the national charity for homeless people. In 2018 we published a plan to end homelessness, and this now provides the framework for the work of Crisis over the coming years.

The Director of Corporate Services is a hugely important role for Crisis, enabling us to build on our growth and impact in recent years with the right financial strategy, systems, technology, premises and planning processes. This is not a CFO role with some functions bolted on; this is about leadership and creating the environment that enables our staff and volunteers to be their very best in bringing about the end of homelessness at an individual and national level. Crucially, it is also about role-modelling our values and contributing to the development of our culture.

Over recent years, Crisis has grown considerably and now has an annual turnover in excess of £50m. The Director of Corporate Services is at the heart of ensuring that this growth enables the organisation to deliver greater impact, delivering the 2018 – 23 strategy as a thriving organisation with excellent infrastructure and facilities for our members, staff and volunteers, an approach to risk that facilitates innovation and adaptability, effective governance and a clear approach to planning and performance and impact measurement.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant, and will need to demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role;
  • An ability to provide strategic leadership to multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Experience at Board level and ability to work in collaboration with Trustees and colleagues.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual. We are seeking someone fearless, independent and inspiring. You will be a confident, dynamic and engaging individual with excellent communication skills and confidence to operate at the highest levels. We welcome applications from a wide range of backgrounds; experience in both Commercial and Not For Profit sectors would be an advantage. This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual.

Please see the job description for a fuller list of responsibilities. If you feel you have the skills and experience to succeed in this role we very much look forward to hearing from you.

Please submit your CV, with a supporting statement describing why you would be the best person to join this team and make Crisis the best it can be. For an informal conversation about the role please contact Bryony Feeney via the Allen Lane agency website.
