Job description

Mustard Tree helps people to change their lives, secure better accommodation and economic wellbeingOur focus is tackling both the causes and consequences of poverty and homelessness.

Role Purpose:

You will plan and execute communication plans both internally and externally, as well as be responsible for producing appropriate marketing materials, cases for support and management of the charity website. This will also involve coordination of relevant events, as well as being the contact point for all press enquiries.

You will also develop and maintain partnerships with corporate supporters, involving them in our work. In addition to fundraising, you will work with partners to develop avenues for Freedom trainee work placements, in-kind support and volunteering.

What you will be doing: Job Description

Main Responsibilities:

  • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of communications mediums, such as regular email

    bulletins, website and leaflets and work on the layout of content.

  • Management of digital infrastructure, social media strategy and advertising and promoting

    job vacancies internally and externally.

  • Delivering and co-ordinating on a small number of events, both internally and externally as

    required.

  • Manage press enquiries and be the contact point for all PR.

  • To proactively undertake detailed research into each of your corporate prospects to better

    understand their strategic priorities/key drivers and to enable Mustard Tree to robustly seek

    to engage in a meaningful relationship with them.

  • Visit new partners and be able to deliver successful presentation and pitches in order for

    Mustard Tree to be selected as a charity partner.

  • To continue delivering work placement opportunities to Freedom Project trainees with

    existing Corporate Partners and develop new opportunities where possible.

  • Produce appropriate marketing material, cases for support and other promotional material to

    build relationships with corporates, support appeals, events, and campaigns.

  • Manage regular groups of corporate volunteers to engage them with Mustard Tree’s work

  • To work with colleagues and staff in other departments to optimize potential corporate

    partnerships.

  • To evaluate and record the success or otherwise of each partnership, demonstrating and

    sharing learning.

  • Prepare and write regular progress reports to companies as required – ensuring that

    information is clearly and accurately presented and produced in a timely manner.

  • Ensure effective administrative services to support and monitor our fundraising activities. This includes mail-merging, ensuring income is recorded accurately, mailing documents and thanking donors.

  • To maintain accurate and up-to-date records on our CRM system, Thank Q so that the relationship can be tracked and monitored.

General Work duties:

  • Support beneficiaries to develop ‘work ready’ skills and behaviours i.e. confidence, punctuality,time management, communication, teamwork and initiative

  • Overseeing and working within health & safety guidelines and Mustard Tree policies and procedures

  • Supporting other staff and departments and providing practical relief cover for work-streams

  • Take responsibility for professional development, attending training courses as required

  • Leading by example, embodying Mustard Tree cultures and values and representing the

    charity with external partners

  • Contribute towards being an environmentally responsible organisation as part of day to day

    activities including recycling and supporting ‘paper-lite’ practices

  • Other tasks and duties relevant to the role as required by the organisation

What we are looking for: Person Specification

Essential:

1. Experience in planning and implementing communications strategies and marketing materials

2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence in presenting to different audiences as well as press management

3. University Degree in complementary field or equivalent experience

4. A proven track record of securing funds from companies, winning new business and knowledge of other areas of fundraising

5. Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills

6. Proven ability to work on own initiative, meet objectives and tight deadlines under pressure

7. Enthusiastic and willing to work flexibly including some early evening and occasional weekend work

Desirable:

8. Understanding of the impact of homelessness, poverty and social exclusion

9. Line management experience
