Hours:35 hrs per week. Office hours are 9 – 5 

Background and purpose

We are the only UK-wide charity for everyone affected by a genetic and acquired bleeding disorder. 

At the Haemophilia Society (THS) we want to empower everyone affected by a bleeding disorder to live life to the full, whatever your stage in life.

One in 2,000 men, women and children in the UK have a diagnosed bleeding disorder, which are a group of conditions, including haemophilia and von Willebrand disorder, that result when the blood cannot clot properly. 

As many as a third of bleeding disorder diagnoses have no known family history and can be the result of a random gene mutation. This means a bleeding disorder diagnosis can come completely out of the blue.

THS brings together people with bleeding disorders and their families to share experiences and understand more about how to live well with a bleeding disorder. Together, we can all make a difference.

About the role

We’re incredibly lucky to have a generous and dedicated community who are always looking for new ways to support our work. We are looking for a passionate fundraiser who can take ownership of our community fundraising and empower our members and supporters in their fundraising ventures. You’ll act as the face of THS for people looking to raise money in a variety of wonderful ways – ensuring they have what they need to be as successful as possible. This will include managing a number of key events such as the London Marathon, Ride London and Swim Serpentine. 

This role would be ideal for someone with 2-3 years’ experience and looking to take the next step in their fundraising career. As part of a small team, you’ll be excited about getting involved in all areas of community and events fundraising, building relationships with our members and driving our fundraising strategy forward. 

The purpose of the role is to:

Community Fundraising

·Supporting and running the community fundraising activities - engaging our centres, signing up new members, stewarding our donors, being the key point of our enquiries

·Organisation and delivery of mass participation events

·Providing guidance and supporting participants in promoting their efforts on social media

·Spotting opportunities for business development with organisations

• Provide guidance and support for supporters undertaking community fundraising and act as a key first point of call. Developing and improving the supporter journey with new materials.
• Organise and project manage events and fundraising campaigns. Add new fundraising campaigns and events to the calendar.
• Develop key materials needed to promote events and fundraising campaigns. Source case studies we can use to promote events, as well as the charity and use them in publications and socials.
• Keeping up-to-date records and giving timely recognition of donations using our CRM system
• Creating fundraising communications to encourage greater participation, working with our Communications Officer and liaising with members and volunteers. 
• Working to strict deadlines to ensure that fundraising activity is widely promoted and the success of fundraisers is celebrated to encourage greater take-up of fundraising activities. 
• Representing the charity at events hosted by community and corporate supporters. Representing the charity at services events promoting fundraising.
• Showcasing the work of the organisation and speaking confidently at events about our work to connect fundraisers to our cause and encourage fundraising.
• Developing engaging national fundraising campaigns.
• Thinking creatively, developing action plans and budgets to support national campaigns like World Haemophilia Day and TalkingRed. You will be able to understand the diverse needs and abilities of our community and create accessible fundraising initiatives that work for a geographically dispersed supporter base.
• Understanding and maintaining relationships with external suppliers for fundraising e.g. Great North Run, Just Giving, London Marathon etc. to ensure that we are abreast of any new trends and developments, or promotional opportunities.

Social Media

·Use our social channels to support your work 

·Monitoring social media accounts

·Keep on top of social trends particularly around fundraising 

·Creative flair to create compelling content for marketing/comms/campaigning

• Work with our Marketing Manager to develop social media to support fundraising, including promotional videos and graphics.
• Produce content for social media, e-news and the website. Adding materials to the webpage promoting other ways to support us – COTY, payroll giving, legacy and in memory giving.

Essential qualities, skills and experience

• Experience of organising and supporting events and/or community fundraising in a voluntary or paid role.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to plan ahead, keep records, manage deadlines, prioritise workload and maximise your use of time.
• An outgoing, enthusiastic and helpful personality.
• A creative approach to fundraising and events. 
• Great customer service skills, the ability to recognise and meet the needs of individuals and to manage expectations when required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Numeracy and the ability to understand basic financial information.
• Ability to work in a team as well as to use individual initiative and judgement.

• Good level of IT literacy, including a good knowledge of standard business software, Google Suite and social media.

• A commitment to the vision and values of The Haemophilia Society
• Experience in using CRM systems.

Desirable qualities, skills and experience

• Completion of a professional fundraising programme or training course.
• An understanding of long term health conditions, their impact on patients and families, and how being affected might act as a motivation for fundraising.

·Experience of managing a charity’s accounts for fundraising suppliers like Just Giving or other fundraising sites. 

·A good knowledge of data protection (GDPR) legislation and good practice in information management.

·Well-developed IT skills with the ability to write engaging content for the website and social media.

• A good understanding of safeguarding principles when working with vulnerable people and the need for professional boundaries

·Ability to gain the trust and confidence of members and supporters.

·Excellent project planning skills and ability to work on cross-organisational projects from design to delivery.

About the role

Working arrangements

This is a field-based role covering Cheshire and Greater Manchester East.  This region covers East Manchester, Crewe, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Macclesfield, Tameside, Warrington, Altrincham, and Lymm.You'll need to live in the area or be able to relocate to this region.

Regular travel within the area, and occasionally to other parts of the UK.

You must have a full UK driving licence at the time of application with access to your own vehicle.

There will be a requirement for flexible out of hours working to support occasional evening and weekend activity. You will be compensated for this with time off in lieu.

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to take a senior leadership role at North London Open Spaces, and directly contribute to and make a meaningful impact in the conservation and protection of these cherished green spaces. 

As a member of the senior management team, the successful candidate will serve as the primary subject matter expert at NLOS for nature conservation, conceiving and leading on initiatives, advising colleagues, and working collaboratively both internally and externally.  They will have responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day management of most of Hampstead Heath and all of Highgate Wood, and will also oversee a number of services that function across and support the four open spaces (eg, arboriculture and tree management, waste and recycling, conservation, and ecology).  

For the better performance of their duties, the Head of Conservation will be required to reside in accommodation that is provided on site and will be scheduled onto an on-call and duty manager rota with other colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary subject matter expert for nature conservation at Hampstead Heath, Highgate Wood, Queen’s Park, and West Ham Park
• Oversee the day-to-day management of Highgate Wood and most of Hampstead Heath
• Oversee arboriculture / tree management, waste management, conservation, habitat creation/restoration and management, wildlife management, water body management, and climate change adaptation across North London Open Spaces
• Lead and motivate a team of 25-30 multi-skilled professionals committed to the conservation of these four sites
• Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, including environmental protection, climate change, nature recovery, wildlife protection, flood risk management, and health and safety.

About You

We are looking for a high-energy and innovative leader with a strong background in nature conservation, open space management, and team leadership. 

The successful candidate will bring:

• Demonstrable experience in managing complex public open spaces.
• Comprehensive experience developing and delivering biodiversity and land management programmes and projects in a range of habitats, ideally within an urban setting.

• Significant experience managing complex conservation work and projects across varied landscapes
• Significant knowledge of biodiversity and wildlife management, including land and water management.

• Strong experience managing a diverse team of professionals in an operational environment. 

• Experience of implementing legislation and policy relevant to biodiversity conservation, planning guidance, and site designation for wildlife conservation and species status designations.
• A highly creative, entrepreneurial and ‘can do’ approach to problem solving, with the ability to remain resilient in the face of challenges. 
• Strong quantitative skills and comfort interrogating and analysing data and budgets.

About the role

This varied role would see you working in partnership with the local authority, communities, schools, businesses, volunteers and third sector organisations, to remove barriers to transport, increase levels of public health and wellbeing, and protect our local environment.

You would be working in our Active Travel Hubs in the Tees Valley, which provide helpful services and interventions to make walking, wheeling and cycling the natural choice for shorter journeys in the Tees Valley. This is an exciting and ambitious project part of the UK’s largest network of Active Travel Hubs, working together to transform how Tees Valley residents travel for their everyday journeys.

Key responsibilities could include:

• Planning, organisation, administration and in-person delivery for behaviour change and engagement projects and events
• Community and stakeholder engagement
• Leading workshops
• Leading guided bike rides and running Cycle Confidence Sessions
• Risk assessments to ensure the wellbeing and safety of your team and the community

About you

You should have experience of leading physical activity or other behaviour change projects within schools, workplaces or communities. You should also have experience of working on projects within an established project management framework and within a Welsh Language environment.

As a Project Coordinator at Mind of the Student, you support the smooth planning and delivery of our mental health programmes in schools and the community. You’ll liaise with schools and our community partners to schedule workshops, manage logistics, and ensure everything runs to time.

About us and our ecological work

We are a small but growing UK-registered charity which undertakes projects that protect and restore wild landscapes, helping to provide a future for all life on earth. We use the skills and expertise of our multi-disciplinary team (spanning science, law, economics, technology and culture) to develop projects that protect and restore wild, natural landscapes.

About the role

We are seeking to hire a dynamic and passionate Senior Ecologist to join The Lifescape Project, to play an integral role in the restoration of charismatic species to the UK and in landscape scale habitat restoration.

What you’ll be doing

As Legal Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in shaping River Action’s fight for cleaner rivers by acting as the link between legal expertise provided by external lawyers and River Action’s day-to-day campaigning, policy, advocacy and operational work. 

The role will involve working closely with River Action’s Head of Legal to use the law and legal strategies to strengthen and improve environmental protection of the UK’s rivers. This exciting role will include scoping, developing and managing strategic litigation to achieve systemic change as well as supporting River Action’s policy and advocacy work. You’ll also support the River Action team to build successful campaigns to challenge polluters, hold government and regulators accountable, and push for policy reform.

Key duties and responsibilities

• Support the Head of Legal in scoping, developing and managing River Action’s legal work, including commissioning legal services from external lawyers and providing instructions on legal matters. 

• Produce legal research and analysis to inform and support River Action’s strategic litigation, policy and advocacy work.

• Work with the campaigns team to develop impactful legal actions as part of creative and positively disruptive campaigns to deliver organisational goals.

• Work with the communities team to identify opportunities for River Action to support communities through legal action, including by developing the River Rescue Kit and other initiatives to extend impact.

• Engage with and obtain information and evidence from claimants, complainants, expert witnesses and other sources to support legal actions and campaigns.

Benefits Advisor
Salary £27,000 FTE,  17.5 - 21 hours per week, 6.6 weeks holiday

Reaching Families was established in 2008 to empower, inform and support parent-carers and families of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities in West Sussex.  We achieve this through the delivery of our services providing information, training and peer support.

Our Benefits Advice Service provides support to parents of children and young people with SEND in West Sussex applying for Carer’s Allowance, Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Personal Independent Payments (PIP).  Offering 1-2-1 advice sessions on the above benefits, support with claim checking of draft applications, information resources on benefits and other sources of financial support, and training workshops on DLA, PIP and Universal Credit.

We are looking to recruit a skilled and motivated benefits advisor to join our team
The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of advice and guidance on Carers Allowance, Disability Living Allowance and Personal Independence Payment to parent-carers of children and young people with SEND in West Sussex.

Person Specification (essential):
• Proven experience of providing welfare and benefits advice preferably gained with either children or adults with disabilities
• Experience of using CRM databases 
• Experience of using MS Office including SharePoint
• Understanding of challenges facing parents and carers of children with SEND 
• In-depth knowledge of Carers Allowance, DLA and PIP)
• Passionate about improving the life chances of children with SEND and their parents/carers, and families
