WHA is an international NGO, representing over 400 civil society and patient organisation members in over 120 countries. We are committed to eliminating viral hepatitis, a devastating disease that affects more than 300 million people and is now the second most deadly infectious disease in the world.

We are seeking an experienced project manager to lead WHA’s delivery of the SAFEStart+ project. Focused on accelerating the elimination of mother-to-child transmission (EVT) of HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B, and Chagas disease in endemic areas. The project will focus on demand generation, adoption and scale-up of innovative EVT programmes through strong community and stakeholder leadership. It will do this in part, through understanding the values and preferences of stakeholders, addressing barriers around awareness and stigma and discrimination, providing training to both community groups and health care workers and undertaking community led monitoring. These community led-activities will run alongside work in countries to strengthen health systems and supply chains and address gaps in product access.

The duties and key responsibilities of the Community Implementation Manager include:

• Plan and coordinate WHA activities related to the project to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time and funding parameters.
• Manage community implementation partners within project countries, working closely with them to develop advocacy and awareness strategies, implement community-based research , monitor budgets in line with approved policies and measure impact.
• Support the coordination of global and country community advisory boards.
• Be the main point of contact for all project partners, fostering positive working relationships to ensure effective coordination throughout the projects’ lifecycle.
• Support capacity building efforts for community groups and health care workers in project countries.
• Work with teams across WHA, including communications and advocacy, to ensure the project outcomes are being appropriately disseminated.
• Coordinate all internal and external reporting related to the project.

There will be the opportunity for occasional international travel as part of this role.

About you

We are looking for an experienced project manager with the below skills and experience.

Desired experience

• Proven track record of delivering complex community-led projects across multiple countries or locations.
• Considerable experience in project management.
• Experience in working with community groups and with people and organisations from different cultures.
• Strong understanding of community and global health, with experience in HIV and/or maternal and child health highly desirable.
• Familiarity with a range of demand generation and awareness raising strategies.
• Experience of community-led monitoring and community-based research.
• Fluent in Spanish (desired but not essential).

This is an exciting senior policy role in our committed policy team leading the fight to end child poverty in the UK. The development of a UK-wide child poverty strategy in government means this is a great time to join CPAG as we look to influence to influence policy makers to adopt our evidence-based policy solutions to child poverty.

We are looking for someone to take a lead role in developing evidence-based policy positions to support CPAG’s influencing and campaigns work. You will have knowledge of political processes and how external organisations can effect change. You will have a track record of producing high quality research and analysis, including policy briefings, on social policy issues. You will enjoy working collaboratively to identify policy issues and develop solutions, working closely with colleagues across the organisation as well as externally.

The postholder will be working in a fast moving, high profile and complex policy environment and will need to balance short term priorities with long term objectives. Current priorities include influencing the development and implementation of the forthcoming child poverty strategy, sharing analysis and expertise as part of the DWP’s review of universal credit, and monitoring the development of the green paper on the changes to disability benefits, and the white paper on employment.

We are looking for a Community Support Administrator to enhance our offer to people diagnosed with aplastic anaemia, and their friends and families . You’ll help our successful fundraising and support teams to do more.

Reporting to our Community Fundraising and Events Manager 

We are passionate about creating opportunities for our community to support us in ways that create joy in their own lives and help them feel empowered in the face of serious illness. Our fundraising activities are designed to help tackle the isolation and other difficulties that are faced by those living with a rare and serious condition. You’ll help us make sure that fundraising for The AAT is a life-affirming and joyful experience.

Our small team are fully remote across the country. You’ll be based on your own in our small office/post room in Birmingham with regular face-to-face meetings with your manager (who lives locally). You’ll keep in touch with the rest of the team via Microsoft Teams.

The first line of support 

As a small charity representing an ultra rare condition, the people we support and the people who support us through fundraising are often one and the same.

You’ll sit within the fundraising team, but your role spans the organisation, and you’ll also deliver essential administration support for our Support Team. 

The Aplastic Anaemia Trust is the only charity who publish information about aplastic anaemia for patients and families. You will post booklets to patients and to hospitals, heading to the post office twice a week to fulfil orders. You’ll also support our volunteer moderators to administer the Patient Support Facebook Group. 

This is a varied and interesting role which gives you the opportunity to see your impact first-hand as you’ll be interacting directly with people whose lives are affected by aplastic anaemia. You will support our community with understanding and empathy. 

As a Community Support Administrator, you will...  

• Manage our online shop, fulfilling orders promptly. Track inventory and re-order items that are running low 

• Send thank you messages and cards to supporters 

• Update our CRM and keep up to date and accurate data on our community 

• Create and schedule social media posts and event listings on our website.

• Answer general emails, social media messages, and other communications and/or ensure they are answered by the right person from our team 

• Provide support and guidance to our volunteers including onboarding and supervision 

• Pitch in with occasional event admin and organising 

• Twice a year attend our Staff Conference for (2-3 weekdays with overnight stay) to work directly with the full team 

For example, a typical week could include: 

• Sending out patient information booklets to hospitals who order it via our website 

• Finding out the t-shirt sizes of everyone on our Great North Run team and posting t-shirts out to them 

• Producing a report from our CRM system, and sending an email to everyone on it to invite them to an event 

• Counting up all our Christmas cards and ordering more from a printers website 

• Creating a thoughtful, personal package for a child who is in hospital, and taking it to the post office. 

• Booking meeting rooms and hotel rooms for an upcoming Staff Conference

• You will understand the joy of beautiful post! You’ll package and send thoughtful, happy packages that put a smile on people's faces when they are having a tough time. 

• You are an independent worker! You’ll be in the office solo most of the time, so you need to be self-motivated, comfortable reaching out when you have questions, and happy in a quiet room (with a big window and leafy view!)

Aplastic anaemia is a rare and life-threatening condition caused by the bone marrow not functioning properly. 

In people with aplastic anaemia, the bone marrow fails to produce enough of all three types of blood cells – red, white and platelets. 

Aplastic anaemia treatment is very similar to the treatment someone might have for leukaemia - but because it's so rare, families often don't have access to the same information and support. 

The Aplastic Anaemia Trust is the only charity in the UK dedicated to supporting people affected by aplastic anaemia and funding research into this rare form of bone marrow failure. 

We fund research to improve treatment, provide expert information, and work tirelessly, at grassroots level, to support every aplastic anaemia patient and their loved ones.

The Role

This role serves as the strategic lead of the European ecosystem, including the UK, overseeing strategies to ensure this powerful movement is growing, is supported, and is being nurtured across communities, countries, leveraging and building power with key actors.
This role understands the nuance of targeted campaigns, how to win them, the context of the big picture, and then designs strategies to intersect the short and long term to build actionable plans for maximum impact.

Working collaboratively across Europe and globally, you will lead the development and implementation of Europe's movement strategy – understanding our campaigns, leading power mapping, understanding constituency and context needs, running experiments, and distributing grants. You will create and recruit new partnerships and groups from new and diverse constituencies, growing their skills and capacities.

Skills Required

You don’t need experience in fossil finance or climate – you can be a leader in your own field of environmental or social justice, such as trade unions, faith or youth groups, community organisations, worker bodies, etc. You’re a strategic, experienced, and collaborative campaign leader and relational organiser, with a passion for winning campaigns and growing regional movements. You have a nuanced understanding of how systemic change happens and can take a long-term view of power and power building in order to deliver short term wins. Your career includes creative corporate and political regional and local campaigns, including winning or iterating on campaigns through diverse stakeholder strategies.

You enjoy working across the political spectrum, or different theories of change, and understand what it takes to build trust, nurture creativity and unleash the potential of individuals and groups. We are currently recruiting a trauma-informed, person-centred Counsellor to deliver essential and life-saving counselling for survivors of rape, sexual assault and sexual abuse. Building relationships with other statutory and non-statutory agencies in local communities is vital to build referral pathways and provide a whole system approach to supporting individuals.

To carry out this work you will meet women in the community in your designated borough and co-locate with other agencies including the National Probation Service, as well as regularly attending Advance’s vibrant Women’s Centre/office space.

You will be a creative self-starter who will support the service and look for innovative solutions to support clients with complex needs. You are confident professional relationship builder and has good awareness of Safeguarding procedures. Strong Administration skills and understanding of compliant behaviours also experience of supporting. With good knowledge of the criminal justice system and awareness of other support provisions.
