Job description

Position: Talent Manager

Location: Sidcup, Greater London (partial remote working arrangement)

Contract Type: Permanent and full-time

Salary: £32,000 to £36,000 per annum (commensurate with experience) plus benefits

Purpose

Development Pathways is the leading provider of Social Protection services to a variety of donors worldwide. Our focus areas are social policy, social and economic analysis, and management information systems for social protection. Being a thought leader and acknowledged world leader in these areas, we are continuing to grow our portfolio and footprint.

The Talent Manager will develop and deploy processes that attract, recruit, select and maintain consultants and associates at the appropriate time, into roles that assist the company to win project bids and enable the ongoing effective performance of the projects. (approx. 80%)

This role will also support the Human Resources Manager with internal recruitment and setting up systems and protocols required for HR compliance, when tracking and monitoring candidates, e.g. employment status, remuneration and duty of care.  (approx. 20%)

Responsibilities and Duties

The responsibilities of the Talent Manager will cover the following:

  • Build a database of consultants and associates, with call-down contracts in place where appropriate, to enable rapid deployment
  • Maintain close contact, build positive relationships and encourage loyalty from our associates and consultants
  • Build and maintain a talent pipeline that is in line with business requirements, ethos  and talent/people agenda
  • Organise and maintain a consistent and high-quality library of CVs of both internal and external staff
  • Support recruitment of consultants and associates by working with the different technical teams on the development of job descriptions and person specifications, preparing advertisements, shortlisting, interviewing and selecting candidates
  • Clearly understand the technical requirements for each role to ensure that all candidates meet the technical and behavioural requirements
  • Have knowledge of the sector-relevant job portals, e.g. Devex and DevAid, to identify and attract the best talent
  • Scope and attend appropriate sector-relevant events and build relationships with institutions, to source high-quality associates and consultants
  • Conduct pre-screening activities to improve the quality of CVs presented
  • Train, coach and influence the Business Development team on interviewing, selection and rate negotiation skills
  • Develop and manage robust processes to ensure consultants and associates are compliant with requirements such as Data Protection and Duty of Care
  • Support the Human Resources Manager in ensuring that the current resourcing and recruitment policies and practices are fit for purpose.

Person Specification

  • A relevant university degree
  • Demonstrable and proven experience of at least three years of recruiting at all levels in a fast moving, high volume or niche environment, with senior managers.
  • Experience of recruiting in the International Development or Humanitarian sectors is highly desirable
  • Experience of recruitment in a consultancy related business is also desirable
  • Recruitment/HR database and systems experience is essential
  • HR knowledge in terms of global mobility/employment status/benefits/contracts necessary
  • Able to prioritise and meet customer expectations in terms of time and availability
  • Highly organised and able to balance competing priorities
  • Demonstrates personal commitment to continuous learning and growth
  • Influencing and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to the values and mission of Development Pathways

Reporting

You will be reporting to the Head of Business Development.
