Caseworker - Mentor Supervisor

We are currently looking for a passionate and dedicated Caseworker – Mentor Supervisor to join our New Leaf Young People Mentoring Project. This three-year initiative, funded by the Big Lottery, focuses on improving the life chances, personal resilience, and wellbeing of young people at risk of engaging with the criminal justice system through mentoring support delivered by our wonderful volunteer mentors. Additionally, the project incorporates restorative justice elements, delivering RJ interventions in a school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage referrals by liaising with referrers and conducting needs assessments using the Outcome Star tool.
• Provide mentoring support to young people for up to 12 weeks, facilitating the development of individual action plans.
• Match younger individuals with suitable volunteer mentors based on their unique needs.
• Supervise and support volunteer mentors through regular six-weekly supervision meetings, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
• Assist in the recruitment and training of volunteer mentors while actively promoting the benefits of the project to the local business community and potential referrers.
• Monitor and review mentor-mentee relationships and action plans regularly to ensure progress.
• Maintain effective record-keeping and administration tasks related to case management.

Shout Out UK (SOUK) is a UK-based award-winning political and media literacy organisation with nearly a decade of experience in delivering impactful educational campaigns. Our mission is to defend and amplify democracy by equipping individuals with the critical thinking skills needed to navigate the complex information landscape and engage as informed, active citizens. We have a strong track record of working with educators and young people across various contexts, and we are the secretariat for the UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group for Political and Media Literacy.

The Position:

You will be joining our small, passionate NGO to support the delivery of our educational programmes. Reporting directly to the Head of Programmes, you will be tasked with delivering programmes on Political & Media Literacy, counter-extremism, and online safety. This will involve traveling to a variety of educational settings to deliver our programmes, alongside supporting our Head of Programmes and Programme Coordinators to recruit schools and colleges. Projects can vary from media literacy workshops for schools, online harms CPD training, to city-wide democratic engagement stalls.

The applicant needs to be motivated, interested in counter-extremism, and passionate about Political & Media Literacy. The job is based on a 6-month contract, with likely extension (including a 3-month probation period).

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a wide variety of programmes across a diverse range of settings and cohorts.

• Recruit, coordinate and support schools and teachers across the UK to take up our programmes

• Support in updating and creating resources around the topics of Political Literacy, Media Literacy and Counter - Extremism

• Establish and maintain effective relationships with teachers, councils, 3rd sector stakeholders through our CRM system.

• Travel nationally and/or internationally to deliver 

• A UK driver’s licence is required (access to a car also is preferable)

Skills and Experience:

• Experience in delivering to young people and adults.

• Confidence.

• An understanding of and interest in media & political literacy and counter-extremism (PCVE / REMVE)

Job description

The postholder will be expected to provide energy advice to householders by telephone and email. Delivering key information to help householders/clients to access appropriate support. Whilst maintaining accurate and detailed records of all interactions with clients.

Pay and conditions

The role is full-time (37.5 hours per week). However, we will consider applications from a minimum of 22.5hrs per week.

The salary for the role will be £25,750. Rising to £26,739 after passing 6-month probationary period.

You will be entitled to 25 days paid holiday (plus statutory holidays).

What you'll be doing.

You'll be working closely with our ecommerce Buyer on a day-to-day basis, playing a key support role for our online shop. You will have responsibility for a variety of administrative tasks, from liaising with suppliers to raising purchase orders and maintaining the critical path. You will also be helping to create content for our online shop, so excellent written communication skills are a must. As a small team there is also plenty of scope for a candidate with the right skills and interests to get involved with sales forecasting and product selection.

We are looking to appoint a Family Support Worker to deliver high-quality family support services as part of our Thames Valley Team.

Reporting to the Family Support Manager and working in partnership with health, education, and social care professionals, you will take responsibility for providing needs-led emotional, social, and practical support to families where a child/young person has a life threatening or terminal illness.
