In Spring 2028, the National Gallery will launch a new, public-facing Research Centre to facilitate and showcase our world-leading research in the history and science of painting. We are now recruiting for a new role, a Research Centre Manager, to support in the creative planning and daily delivery of an exceptional experience at the Research Centre. The role-holder will provide vital clarity and consistency in the day-to-day running of this multifaceted space to ensure a smoothly functioning whole. This includes coordinating all aspects of the Research Centre operations, managing staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining the Research Centre facilities and administration. They will also think creatively about the Centre’s different spaces and, alongside Gallery colleagues, will help produce exciting research programming.

Degrees has partnered with leading climate change funders and research partners including the Quadrature Climate Foundation, Open Philanthropy, Crankstart, Navigation Fund, Outlier Projects, LAD Climate Fund and UK Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA). Transparency of funding is essential to our work. We do not accept support from anonymous donors or funding from the fossil fuel industry. Fundraising for the organisation has been led by the Founder and CEO, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Chief of Staff, and the Chair of the Trustees with the support of an experienced Senior Philanthropy Advisor.
We now seek a full-time team member to build on this base. Reporting to the COO, and working closely with senior staff and the Chair, the Development Manager will support high‑performing fundraising that secures multi‑year, diversified funding. He / she will also introduce robust processes for pipeline management and donor stewardship and manage the complete donor lifecycle (from identification to cultivation to solicitation and stewardship) of a portfolio of top prospects. The post holder will receive initial onboarding support from the Senior Philanthropy Advisor. As fundraising grows, the team may expand in the future.
Initial priorities include expansion beyond the current donor pool, with a strong push to identify and engage new funders, and putting in place the systems (CRM, reporting cadence, key performance indicators) to support growth at scale.
As this is a new role, responsibilities are expected to evolve but some key items will include:
Strategy & planning
- Work with the CEO, Chief of Staff, COO, Senior Philanthropy Advisor, programme staff and the Chair of the Trustees to help develop and implement a multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with organisational objectives;
Pipeline development & new opportunities
- Manage the fundraising pipeline, guiding the ongoing fundraising activities of senior staff and the Chair;
- Research and identify new funding opportunities from trusts and foundations, government funders, and multilateral donors in the development and climate sectors on an ongoing basis;
- Reach out to networks of donor advisors and established relationships for referrals;
- Initiate and manage contact with funding opportunities;
Grant writing
- Draft and coordinate the preparation and submission of grant proposals;
Donor stewardship & reporting
- Maintain excellent relations with existing funders by keeping them informed on charity and sector updates, inviting them to events, and ensuring the delivery of annual reports and notices;
- Ensure and manage ongoing formal grant reporting on behalf of the organisation;
Events & engagement
- Often working with partners, plan and deliver fundraising events for existing and potential funders, particularly in the UK and US;

The First Contact Team is a dynamic one-stop service that transforms the way patients and referral agencies access the Hospice’s services. An opportunity has arisen for a full-time Administrator to join the First Contact Team. You will work with colleagues and external stakeholders worldwide to ensure the smooth delivery of the administration function, including the logistical aspects of our global activities, meetings and conferences.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Organising international meetings and conferences: creating registration platforms for meetings; venue sourcing; budgeting & forecasting; delegate management; managing rooming allocations, catering and audio-video (AV) requirements; arranging interpreters when required; booking international travel and supporting visa processes.
- Documentation: assisting with the drafting and proofreading of documents for maritime meetings and conferences in line with the appropriate templates and procedures; minute taking and report writing at committee level; liaising with the in-house translation coordinators to ensure documents are submitted on time and dealing with related queries; creating document packs for maritime meetings and conferences.
- Administration: drafting, proofreading and formatting internal and external communications in line with ITF templates and standards; processing supplier invoices; other general administrative duties as required.
- Membership: maintaining accurate records and updating ITF databases and other tools, including CRM, to ensure governance committee membership and contact records are up-to date.
About you
We are looking for a highly organised individual to support the delivery of the maritime sections organisational work programme. With responsibility for organising meetings and conferences and providing administrative support, you will need the following to be successful in this role:
- Strong administrative background with excellent organisation, planning, and prioritisation under pressure.

- Confident working with diverse stakeholders and in multilingual environments (other languages an asset).
- Solid numerical skills, including budgeting and expense reporting.

Role purpose
The Finance Operations Officer is responsible for supporting the finance team in transactional processing, financial administration, and providing excellent service to internal and external stakeholders. This role ensures accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, reconciliations, and reporting to support the organisation’s operational and strategic objectives.
Key responsibilities
• Oversee the collection of direct debit payments for subscriptions and status fees, monitoring automated processes for accuracy.
• Raise sales invoices and maintain the sales ledger on the CRM and accounting system.
• Post and reconcile non-automated payments such as BACS, credit card, and expense statements.
• Process purchase invoices and prepare month-end journals.
• Respond to financial queries and arrange refunds where appropriate.
• Carry out reconciliations and analysis, including using generative AI tools for basic checks.
• Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to queries.
• Provide cover for colleagues during absences, including payment runs.
• Maintain effective credit control and support budget holders with transaction processing.
