We are seeking an experienced, strategic and collaborative Head of Communications and External Engagement to join our Senior Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in shaping Martingale’s external profile, strategic partnerships, and policy influence.
As Head of Communications and External Engagement, you will join our growing senior management team, overseeing several critical aspects of Martingale’s work: communications and recruitment; partnerships and fundraising; and policy and advocacy. Working closely with the CEO, you will oversee all aspect of Martingale’s external communications and engagement to ensure Martingale’s success.
You will set the strategic direction of Martingale’s external positioning, working closely with the CEO on a day-to-day basis to ensure that our communications, partnerships and policy activity is aligned and meeting Martingale’s mission. You will ensure that Martingale’s messaging is consistent, with a bold brand presence and strong collaboration with various external stakeholders including funders, universities, media, and government.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership

- Maintain and grow relationships with Martingale’s university, philanthropic, and other partners.

- Oversee ambassador engagement and support Martingale’s national and regional events.
Policy & Advocacy
- Lead Martingale’s policy and advocacy work to shape the future of postgraduate access and equity.
- Along with the CEO, represent Martingale in external forums, responding to consultations and influencing key stakeholders in research and education policy.
- Collaborate with researchers and partners to generate evidence and drive systems change.
Team Leadership & Management
- Line manage team leads across communications and partnerships, with oversight of a team of four.
- Support the professional development of the team, ensuring alignment with Martingale’s values and goals.

Respite and Care Executives play a significant role in enabling our beneficiaries to continue to be independent for as long as possible and when/if they require formal care, they can support them during this time too. They work closely with the Advocacy Team and the Friendships and Connections team to ensure that all their needs are met.
We are looking for a candidate to cover Maternity Leave for 14 months. They will work alongside the current post holder and the other team members for 2 months to learn the role and take over existing cases. They will form part of the existing Respite, Care and Advocacy Team and work closely with other members of the team as well as other colleagues in the Operations Directorate (mainly Welfare).
An articulate communicator with IT skills suited to working in a paperless environment, you must be able to demonstrate an ability to relate to people of all ages as well as professionals such as external case working organisations, RAF stations, care providers, those who have lasting power of attorney (LPA). You must have an understanding of the social care system and the Mental Capacity Act.
The role is based in our London HQ, with a minimum of three days working in the office per week. The successful candidate for this role will need to be Standard DBS checked and prove they have the right to work in the UK.

The future of CCT’s outstanding collection of historic churches depends on communities supporting their local CCT church with funds, events, inspiring interpretation, visitor services and preventive conservation. The Role
As our Community and Events Fundraiser, you’ll be the driving force behind our community and event fundraising. You’ll build relationships with existing and new supporters, community groups, and corporate partners developing opportunities to raise income and awareness for Friends of PICU.
Working closely with our Operations Manager, you’ll deliver an annual calendar of exciting fundraising events, from local community challenges to large-scale campaigns, ensuring each activity connects people to our mission and delivers excellent supporter experiences.

Main responsibilities
In line with our income generation strategy:
· Lead on the strategic planning and implementation of income generation activities to help build sustainability of The Carers’ Centre and its services for 19,600 unpaid carers across Bath and North East Somerset.
· Develop and implement a stewardship programme for donors and funders building support and securing new income for The Carers’ Centre.
· Work collaboratively with colleagues to help deliver The Carers’ Centre vision for carers.
Income generation
· Design and deliver a diverse income generation plan to support philanthropy and fundraising in line with The Carers’ Centre Strategic Plan.
· Co-produce annual philanthropy and fundraising targets and take the lead responsibility to instigate and co-ordinate the activity that will achieve them.
· Build long-lasting relationships with key local philanthropists, donors, and funders.
· Work proactively with colleagues to research, identify and scope a portfolio of compelling projects and proposals that will appeal to donors and funders.
· Work closely with communication colleagues to develop appropriate communications campaigns and activities for different supporter groups.
· Contribute towards the charity’s communications and marketing strategy ensuring fundraising is embedded.
· Develop, maintain, and implement relevant policies and procedures in line with our growth plans.

· Provide effective line management and support to direct reports to help them maximise their potential and effectiveness.

· Support the Carbon Champion by implementing environmentally friendly practices to help reduce our carbon footprint.

Who We Are
Our charity was established in 1992, to provide care and support to people in Sussex, living with and affected by HIV. Over the past three decades there have been huge advances in treatment and care for those affected by the virus. People taking effective anti-retroviral medication (ART’s) can live long lives, with HIV becoming undetectable and untransmittable.
Whilst people who are living with HIV can live longer, many develop other physical co-morbidities as they age and many experience social and self- stigma. Our service users are often from marginalised groups, who often experience inter-sectional discrimination and health inequalities. Many of our service users experience socio-economic disadvantage and have multiple and complex needs.
The Sussex Beacon offers a range of services to people who have been living with HIV for decades through to those who are newly diagnosed. Our services include:

The Role
This is an exciting time for The Sussex Beacon, as we are about to launch our new 2030 Strategic Plan and move to a new era of delivery, through the evolution of our end of life and palliative care for the LGBTQ+ community. The Sussex Beacon will be the first Hospice of its kind in the country tackling stigma and health inequalities for those who are most marginalised in our community.
This role will secure, manage and grow income from corporate partners, supporting The Sussex Beacon’s mission to provide specialist care and support for people living with HIV and its new LGBTQ+ Hospice provision. This role is responsible for building long-term, strategic relationships with businesses, creating tailored partnership opportunities, and contributing to the charity’s wider income generation strategy and its five-year fundraising plan. The postholder will work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to maximise corporate engagement and fundraising potential.

Corporate Partnership Fundraising at The Sussex Beacon
The Sussex Beacon has a proud history of working with corporate supporters who are passionate about making a difference. The Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser will lead on identifying new corporate prospects, developing compelling proposals, and managing a portfolio of existing partners. They will create and deliver partnership plans that may include sponsorship, employee fundraising, cause-related marketing, and volunteering. By aligning business objectives with The Sussex Beacon’s values and impact, the postholder will ensure meaningful and sustainable relationships that benefit both parties.
Team Beacon
Team Beacon is the charity’s fundraising event brand, bringing together supporters through challenge events, campaigns, and volunteering. The Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser will work closely with the fundraising team to integrate corporate teams into Team Beacon activities, encourage staff engagement, and develop sponsorship packages for major events such as The Brighton Half Marathon, which we own, and community challenges. This collaborative approach enhances visibility and fosters a sense of shared purpose among partners and supporters alike.
Business Networking Events
The postholder will represent The Sussex Beacon at a variety of business networking events, including LGBTQ+ network events, across Sussex and beyond. These events offer valuable opportunities to connect with potential partners, showcase the charity’s impact, and build strategic relationships. The Fundraiser will be proactive in identifying and attending relevant events, from Chamber of Commerce meetings to local business expos, ensuring The Sussex Beacon maintains a visible and professional presence in the corporate community.
Other Duties
· Maintain accurate records of partner interactions and income through the charity’s CRM system.
· Prepare regular reports and updates for the Head of Income and senior leadership.
· Work with the communications team to highlight successful partnerships and case studies.
· Support the wider fundraising team during peak periods or major campaigns.
· Stay up to date with trends and developments in corporate fundraising and CSR.
· Responsibility alongside fundraising for corporate events such as The Sussex Beacon relay and 5k inflatable course.

About this key role
Our successful candidate will monitor and manage the receipt of referrals from Probation through the Customer Approved System (CAS) and ensure all inputting is accurate and within agreed timescales and provide regular activity reports to the Wellbeing Manager.
