This exciting pilot is a new approach to preventing rough sleeping, through the provision of accommodation with onsite specialist move-on support to those who are at immediate risk of sleeping rough. The service will provide a route and support for single homeless clients who are presenting to the Local Authority Housing Options or day centres and at imminent risk of rough sleeping, but not yet rough sleeping.
Where their homelessness cannot be prevented by the council and they are at imminent risk of sleeping rough, a referral can be made into the Rough Sleeping Prevention service.
The service will be based across three London locations in Islington, Lambeth and Kensington and Chelsea and staff will be expected to work across all 3 services .
- 7 day rolling rota including early, mid and late shifts
- (K&C): medium – high support accommodation.
- (Lambeth): medium support accommodation.
- (Islington): Assessment hub space for up to 15 clients. Site will operate 24/7.
Each site will have staff delivering casework and support, providing each person with a comprehensive assessment of their needs and circumstances, and intensive specialist support to secure move on.
In these roles you will:

Work as part of a busy team environment working closely with those affected by rough sleeping.

Provide a safe and supportive environment at night to clients; and support a team of Assessment and Reconnection Workers, with key tasks; such as implementing reconnection or assessment plans and supporting clients into appropriate accommodation.
About you

Some experience of dealing directly with the public and/or customers in a busy service environment.

Good communication skills and the ability to work with others effectively to get things done.

Some understanding of the issues faced by homeless or vulnerably housed people and the difficulties they experience in accessing services.

The successful applicant will be required to work 2 days per week including every Sunday. Each Sunday you be responsible for the management of the store, ensuring it showcases our wonderful donations and taking pride in maintaining a tidy and accessible space for all.

Legacies play a vital role at the Home, funding on average 1/3 of our annual income and you will support the implementation of a legacy strategy, aimed at growing income.
You will collaborate closely with the Legacy and Individual Giving Manager and Head of Fundraising to develop strategy and drive income growth, while delivering concise reports on key performance indicators. Your meticulous attention to detail will shine as you manage the day-to-day administration of our legacy caseload, handling complex gifts and resolving any issues. Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements will be second nature to you, as you ensure all funds are administered correctly in alignment with donors' wishes. Collaborating seamlessly with various teams, you'll ensure smooth operations, accurate record-keeping, and insightful analysis. Leveraging your marketing prowess, you'll engage with stakeholders, cultivate relationships, and develop innovative approaches to boost supporter loyalty and engagement.

What you will be doing:
In this role, you will act as a first point of contact both face to face and over the telephone, handling a diverse range of enquiries and visits from families, volunteers, supporters, staff and members of the public. In addition, you will provide a high level of administrative and customer care support to include donation processing, database maintenance, delivering support activities for online fundraising page supporters. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop and deepen your understanding of fundraising and charity work, be involved in maintaining excellent donor and supporter relationships whilst working within a supportive and professional fundraising team. Charlton Farm is a beautiful and well equipped workplace at the edge of Bristol with plenty of free parking, surrounded by beautiful walks and views. The Successful Candidate:
You will be adept at prioritising competing demands and able to adapt your approach to a variety of situations and audiences. You will have a good telephone manner and strong interpersonal skills, with an excellent understanding of confidentiality and data protection, an interest in the aims and objectives of Children's Hospice South West, a professional approach with tact and diplomacy and the ability to enthuse and motivate others. You will have a flexible and collaborative approach to teamwork, and the ability and confidence to apply your own initiative. Bonny Downs Community Association has been working together to change lives and transform our community since 1998. Over the past 25 years our team has grown to provide a wide array of services that benefit Newham residents from all walks of life.
This role is specifically funded through the Youth Endowment fund as a pilot project ‘Thriving Communities’. You will be required to work alongside Thriving Communities commissioners, as well as the project’s Youth Justice Worker’s, Educational Psychologist, and/or professionals assigned to individual young people’s cases- such as teachers, social workers and mentors. The Thriving Communities project is a small part of a wider collaborative project, EMPOWER YOUTH, delivered by two partner charities so, although this position is based at BDCA, you will be working closely with a second East Ham Youth Partnership Project lead and team of Sessional Assistants based at nearby charity The Renewal Programme (TRP). Staff from each organisation will work together to deliver the programme and cross-refer young people to activities led by both teams. You will also be required to work with BDCA’s own Children & Families team during the summer scheme and liaise with our marketing team all year round. External partner agencies that you will work directly with include Thriving Communities panel, Newham Youth Empowerment Service, Newham Community Engagement Team, local sports clubs and schools.

Your role
As Assistant Shop Manager, it is an exciting opportunity to work alongside the Shop Manager in Surbiton's brand new Scope shop (Victoria Road, Surbiton, KT6 4NS). The shop will be opening mid 2024. You will be able to use your creativity and flair to flourish in our retail environment. Our retail roles are full of variety, and every day is different! One day you might be be generating and processing stock and designing an eye-catching window display. The next day you might be recruiting and training our wonderful volunteers. Every day there will be a different challenge that you’ll find extremely rewarding. You may also deputise and be responsible for running the shop when the shop manager is absent. A great attitude and willingness to learn are just as important as relevant experience.
About you
You’ll be a dedicated team player with a strong work ethic and committed to providing excellent customer service. You do not need specific retail experience. But we do ask that you are business minded and have worked in a fast paced, service environment where you put the customer’s needs first. It’s important for you to know that Scope Charity Shops are open every day, so some weekend and Bank Holiday cover is needed. We work 35 hours a week, working five days out of seven. Weekly hours for part-time vacancies are on a seven-day rota.
