About the Council
The role of Council is to lead on the GOC’s mission to protect the public by upholding high standards in eye care services. The Council is composed of six lay members (including the Chair) and six registrant members (i.e. registered optometrists and dispensing opticians). At least one member of the Council must work wholly or mainly in each of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. One Council member acts as a Senior Council Member whose role is to carry out the Chair’s appraisal as well as provide a sounding board for the Chair and serve as an intermediary for Council members, Executive and stakeholders as necessary.
The successful candidate will contribute to Council by exercising oversight, ensuring effective corporate governance, and making high-level policy decisions. They will be able to operate strategically and impartially; listen, communicate, and influence effectively; exercise judgment; and inspire confidence and support amongst our stakeholders.
Remuneration and time commitment
Council members are remunerated in accordance with our member fees policy (£13,962 per annum plus reasonable travel and subsistence expenses). The member fee includes time for reading and preparation.
The appointed member will be expected to commit approximately 2-3 days per month. Meetings will usually take place via MS Teams but may on occasion be held at the GOC Offices at Level 29, One Canada Square, London, E14 5AA. There are occasional online catch-up meetings - these are currently scheduled on a Tuesday evening every 6-8 weeks, from 5.30pm – 6.30pm.

Action for Refugees in Lewisham (AFRIL) is seeking our next Executive Director to lead our small, dynamic charity. The Senior Bid and Funding Officer is a new role for Involve as we seek to build the infrastructure to support the growth that we have experienced in recent years. The role of Hospitality Marketing Officer (HMO) focuses on all aspects of traditional and digital marketing activity, both B2B and B2C, in support of some key commercial activities of the commercial trading company RWL (on-site retail and catering, The Five Arrows Hotel, and The Bow Pub).
What you will do:
The Hospitality Marketing Officer is a part-time role of three days a week supporting the marketing of onsite catering and retail operations of Waddesdon Manor, The Bow pub and the Five Arrows Hotel. The role also contributes to Waddesdon Manor and RWL (commercial trading) overall marketing and online strategy, and supports its brand and positioning by working closely with colleagues across both the hospitality and visitor operation.
You’ll develop and implement creative marketing campaigns to promote and increase sales for the following areas of the trading company’s business:
· The Five Arrows Hotel
· The Bow Pub
· Wine at Waddesdon (both wine sales and wine related events)

The Hospitality Marketing Officer makes a visible impact on the weekly sales results, monthly profit and loss results and in terms of positive customer feedback.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Input to develop marketing strategies and implement plans to meet commercial targets for hospitality and visitor attraction businesses, in particular supporting increased on-site spend in the Waddesdon catering outlets, including the Five Arrows Hotel and The Bow pub.
- Manage development and update of websites for the Five Arrows and Bow and details of catering and wine events at the Manor.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Programme Manager is a key role in the Rio Ferdinand Foundation’s isle of Ireland team. This post is responsible for managing an exciting new cross-border PEACE Academy programme in Belfast and Sligo, funded by the Special EU Programme Body (SEUPB) PEACEPLUS programme https://www.seupb.eu/
The aim of this new three-year programme, is to deliver and evidence a PEACE Academy pathway of engagement, learning, social action and employability that will inspire young people from communities in Northern Ireland and Ireland to create shared experiences and build a long-term response to sectarianism, racism and hate on a cross community and cross border basis.
KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role will:
§ Establish and develop our new PEACE Academy Programme in partnership with Glentoran FC and Sligo Rovers FC together with a network of grass-root partners, as well as community policing and other strategic stakeholders.
§ Line manage a new programme staff team including 2x Regional Coordinators, a part time Training Lead, part time Monitoring Officer, a part time Admin Officer and a part time Finance Officer as well as sessional staff.
§ Lead and manage a three-year cross border and cross community youth and community development programme engaging Catholic / Nationalist / Republican (CNR), Protestant/ Unionist/ Loyalist (PUL), and newcomer communities.
§ Oversee the development of sessions which utilise youth culture as a platform for personal development, working with your staff team to design, deliver and manage engaging sessions and opportunities utilising music and the creative arts, sport, and digital media.
§ Develop, and oversee the delivery of our youth development pathway across both regions, including twice weekly sessions, workshops, seminars and accredited training pathways, mentoring, cross-border events and initiatives, careers events and pathways with a range of commercial partners, and strategic stakeholder engagement.
§ Quality assure the delivery of sessions and outputs linked to the personal development of young people.
§ Encourage and support the involvement of volunteers from the local community.
§ Develop positive relationships with key strategic partners involved in the project and ensure links are made and information shared with appropriate agencies.
§ Work closely with our CEO and Director for Ireland & Northern Ireland on the strategic positioning and development of the Foundation and the legacy of the PEACE Academy programme.
§ Work with our Director of Operations to establish and implement a robust monitoring, evaluation and learning framework for the programme with key data capture tools in place from the outset.
§ Be responsible for the delivery of specified targets for the programme through producing regular action plans and work programmes, ensuring that all project planning, monitoring, and evaluation procedures are implemented and adhered to.
§ Ensure all monitoring data is captured and recorded against targets ensuring funder reports are produced and meetings attended as and when required.
§ Ensure all administrative and financial functions of the programme are conducted in accordance with funder requirements
§ Work with our Directors on the financial and wider reporting of the programme as required by our funder.
§ Work with an external monitoring agency to ensure their independent impact evaluation is completed alongside our own internal monitoring.
§ Work with our Director of Development on shaping and implementing a communications strategy for the PEACE Academy.
§ Keep up to date with local and regional trends in sports/arts for social change and work with young people.
§ Actively represent Rio Ferdinand Foundation at working groups, initiatives, and events.
§ Assist and contribute to the on-going development and strategy of the Rio Ferdinand Foundation’s work in Sligo and Belfast as well as across the island of Ireland.
§ Develop and maintain key relationships with partners from across various sectors including, statutory, private, business and third sectors.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
· Work flexibly where appropriate on evening, weekends and during school holidays to ensure full and supportive delivery of the programme.

The Role:
The Fundraising & Events Officer will provide administrative assistance with grants and donor fundraising and the logistics for events. Working alongside the Development Manager and the Founding Director you will support identifying and managing donor opportunities, and the research and support of applications to Trusts and Foundations. It is a diverse and varied role and is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to build a solid foundation in fundraising and events.

Principal Accountabilities for the Core Job:
- Ensure all the necessary administration to support fundraising including recording all donations and potential contact information on Salesforce, thanking and reporting to all event attendees and donors.
- Assistance in the planning, setting up and logistics of all events including attending events as required (includes occasional out of office and out of hours commitments).
- Establish and maintain donor contacts on the database, and, with the Development Manager, coordinate donor communication and planning.
- Prepare donation quarterly reports and report post event on financial and potential contact outcomes and lessons learnt.

- Digital strategy and performance, including the development and implementation of integrated campaigns across social, search, email and web; and of setting and monitoring KPIs for engagement, traffic and conversion as well as tracking channel and campaign performance
- Social media and content, including management of all organic and paid social activity. You'll be responsible for content calendars, copy, creative direction and reporting as well as leading the development of engaging digital content for the website and identifying new opportunities to grow engagement, reach and help meet policy goals
- Overseeing email marketing and audience journeys, including of the strategy and delivery of all email activities targeting supporters and stakeholders. You'll work with your team to develop segmentation strategies, automated journeys, and A/B testing plans to improve performance, and ensure GDPR compliance and supporter-centric communication
- Digital advertising, including leading all digital advertising activity, including Google Ads, Meta, and LinkedIn
- Website and UX, including monitoring user behaviour and propose data-led improvements to web structure and content
- Network and internal support, including supporting the digital capacity of FareShare's network partners through the provision of toolkits, templates, and training; and by championing digital marketing across the organisation, collaborating across teams
- Line-manage and support the development of the Digital Marketing Officer and Email Marketing Officer, providing clear objectives, regular feedback, and opportunities for learning and development

We would love to hear from candidates with the following skills and experience:
- Previous experience of designing and delivering multi-channel digital campaigns at scale
- Demonstrable experience in a senior digital marketing role across all primary channels
- Strategic thinker with hands-on expertise in campaign planning, delivery, and optimisation
- Strong analytical skills and experience using GA4, Looker Studio, or similar for reporting and insight
- Strong copywriting and content planning skills, with an eye for visual storytelling
- Knowledge of SEO/SEM, digital advertising platforms, and audience segmentation
- Experience in email marketing strategy and CRM systems (e.g. Active Campaign, Mailchimp)
- Strong leadership and people management experience
- Ability to manage competing priorities and drive projects through to delivery
- Passion for FareShare's mission and understanding of how digital drives social impact
