Back Up’s mentoring service is there to help. We know that peer support can have a life changing impact and our Mentoring Coordinators are the ones who can facilitate this through matching them with a suitable mentor who will be able to support them over a series of phone calls to reach their goals.

In addition to creating mentoring relationships, as a Mentoring Coordinator you will support mentors and mentees as appropriate, assess mentee suitability and provide support in the process of identifying, recruiting and training new mentors.

Mentoring Coordinators will be motivated to achieve the aims, targets and milestones that have been set in terms of making quality matches and will be comfortable and efficient with data management and GDPR compliance.

Philanthropy Manager

About the role:

We are looking to appoint an experienced Philanthropy Manager to proactively lead the cultivation and stewardship of potential and existing major donors, trusts and statutory bodies, with a particular focus on driving significant income growth.

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising and Engagement, the Philanthropy Manager will drive the growth of a portfolio of existing supporters and new prospects giving at the five and six figure gift level, with a particular focus on generating major gifts from new donors. The postholder will think strategically to develop inspiring fundraising cases of support, and impact reporting working closely with Care service colleagues, the finance team and the wider fundraising and engagement team.

This role has line management responsibility for three experienced fundraisers who manage their own portfolios of Major Donors, Trusts, and Foundations.

What we’re looking for:

· An experienced and enthusiastic Philanthropy Manager – with a track record of achieving challenging income targets and effective prospect management. Applications will be particularly welcome from those with a background in a children’s charity or SME with ownership of strategic planning.

· A poised, confident and convincing communicator – you have strong negotiation, presentation and networking skills and the ability to quickly connect with and motivate others

This role provides a great opportunity to assist the Programme Manager in setting up and managing an exciting new audit programme using innovative methodologies to support services for people with an eating disorder.

Within the College Centre for Quality Improvement, we run an exciting programme of NHS-funded national clinical audits, including the National Audit of Eating Disorders, which will provide important data to drive forward improvements in care for people with an eating disorder. We are seeking dynamic and proactive person for the Deputy Programme manager role.

The successful candidate will have experience in project management and quality improvement in healthcare and/or clinical audit and will have a keen interest in data analytics. They will line manage staff, develop and deliver project plans and support the Programme Manager in delivering all aspects of the project, including developing sampling methods and producing national reports.

This role is fully funded for three years.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a cluster of services and teams. Our services support homeless adults with complex and enduring needs. You will have overall responsibility of your service and team, aiming to deliver a high quality, trauma informed service to your residents. Your role is to ensure full contract and regulatory compliance whilst being a role model/leader for your team to achieve KPI's and other requirements as per the service needs.

Shift/Working pattern: 37.5 hours a week in service Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, you may also be required to work outside these hours as per the service requirements and needs. You will also take part in our on call service. You will be based across various services covering the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) area.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Line Management and Leadership

• Provide high quality support, leadership and line management to staff, offer guidance, support, and advice to the team and support them to perform to the best of their abilities.

Service Delivery

• Support the Service Manager with the overall day-to-day operational delivery of your service, working directly with your team, colleagues, residents and participants, as well as other stakeholders to provide a high-quality, holistic service which meets the needs of our residents.
• Support the Service Manager to ensure service responsibilities and requirements are carried out effectively. This includes but is not limited to; welfare checks, risk assessments, support sessions, safeguarding checks, training and development, and other responsibilities required for effective service delivery.
• Support team to carry out their day to day duties and responsibilities, offer guidance and support as necessary. 
• Work proactively alongside the Service Manager to ensure the service and team meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators, and work in line with professional codes of conduct.
• Empower residents and participants to make decisions to take control over their lives, by creating an enabling environment.
• Be part of the operational on-call Rota for providing out-of-hours support across the operations directorate.

Risk Management

• Follow relevant risk assessment and management procedures, share relevant information with others as necessary.
• Ensure all case recording and information is accurately recorded in a timely manner, ensuring confidentiality and GDPR.
• Alongside the Service Manager, champion, and act as a point of reference for safeguarding concerns within the service(s). Ensure all staff attend relevant safeguarding and training and use knowledge to coach and advise the team.

Property and Housing Management

• Ensure the accommodation in which residents live is clean and maintained to a high standard
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance issues are correctly reported and managed through to completion.
• Ensure a provision of high quality housing management service is provided to residents. 

Financial Management

• Support the Service Manager in managing the service budget and review monthly management accounts: Set budgets and ensure resources are maximised.
• Promote effective cost control mechanisms and other financial activities.
• Maintain financial management within the service.

Other

• Some of what else is included: Contract management and Internal auditing, admin, and general other duties as required. 

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position. Please refer to the JDPS attached for more information.

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Understanding and/or experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours
• Experience of working with and engaging with diverse groups of people from varying backgrounds
• IT Proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to navigate and learn new case management systems and other types of organisational software.
• Ability to promote the service and provide outreach-based provision, with an ability to liaise and work effectively in partnership with stakeholders
• Understanding of Housing Management, including voids and evictions

What we would like, but not essential:

• Previous experience in people management and development
• Understanding, knowledge, and/or practical application of key legislation – Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, Mental Health, Criminal Justice, Social Care, and Housing, and Health, Safety and Environment

We are seeking a Helpline and Support Manager to lead our dedicated MND Connect helpline team. This vital service is there to ensure that people affected by MND are informed, supported, and better equipped to manage their condition. No two enquiries are the same and the service offers tailored support and guidance.

As the Helpline and Support Manager, you will guide and inspire a diverse team of staff and volunteers. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring our helpline operates effectively and meets the needs of service users. You will be responsible for reviewing service performance using both qualitative and quantitative data, seeking opportunities for improvement and fostering partnerships.

In this role, you will coach our MND Connect Advisers, helping them to develop their skills and confidence. You will ensure the helpline is always available during opening hours, effectively managing resources to maintain this crucial support service.

Creating a positive working environment is key. You will provide emotional support to staff after challenging calls and promote resilience and wellbeing. You will also develop training programmes to ensure our team is able to meet the needs of incoming enquiries.

Your responsibilities will include maintaining effective monitoring and measurement systems to demonstrate the impact of our service. You will facilitate regular team meetings, enabling knowledge sharing and support for difficult calls.

Working within our Helpline Partnerships guidelines, you will ensure compliance with quality standards. You will keep up to date on developments in MND and related services, informing our strategy and maintaining our team's knowledge.

What are we looking for?

A compassionate and skilled leader with strong experience in performance management, training, and team development. You should have a background in managing staff and volunteers within a helpline or support service, ideally in health or social care contexts.

You will need to be able to effectively recognise signs of compassion fatigue, and actively support the wellbeing of your team. Setting and maintaining professional boundaries is crucial.

Strong critical thinking and creativity are essential, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You should be able to identify themes and develop insights to drive service improvement.

The role is hybrid. The nature of this role will require flexibility to meet work needs as they arise. The successful applicant will be required to work at our Bradbury House location when we hold operational meetings. The address is Mayfield Road, Huntingdon, PE29 1UL.  The time commitment is 10 hours per week at the rate of £20 per hour, working from home and virtually with travel across Huntingdonshire.

When a person or their family member sustains a spinal cord injury it is a life changing experience. They can feel very isolated and that no one understands what they’re going through.

Back Up’s mentoring service is there to help. We know that peer support can have a life changing impact and our Mentoring Coordinators are the ones who can facilitate this through matching them with a suitable mentor who will be able to support them over a series of phone calls to reach their goals.

In addition to creating mentoring relationships, as a Mentoring Coordinator you will support mentors and mentees as appropriate, assess mentee suitability and provide support in the process of identifying, recruiting and training new mentors.

Mentoring Coordinators will be motivated to achieve the aims, targets and milestones that have been set in terms of making quality matches and will be comfortable and efficient with data management and GDPR compliance.

Lived experience is an advantage; but most important is your sharing our commitment to transform the lives of everyone affected by spinal cord injury.
