About You

As Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the work of The Wildlife Trusts by maintaining and enhancing our data pipelines and infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the effectiveness, efficiency, and scalability of the federation wide data service system, a data lakehouse, providing key insights and solutions to support decision-making across the organisation and federation, responding to the needs of Wildlife Trusts and the delivery of our 2030 Strategy.

Working collaboratively with various teams, you will develop data management solutions and products, new use cases, forecast data volumes, and ensure cost-effective service maintenance. You will be integral in enabling us to leverage data for operational and strategic success and in supporting a strong community of practice within the federation of Wildlife Trusts.

As Data Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and optimising data pipelines, cloud services, and providing data-driven solutions to support business needs.

To excel in this role, you should be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and passionate about people focused data engineering and analysis. You will have experience in a data engineering role, ideally with practical experience or the ability to upskill in cloud services like Azure, Databricks and ESRI, as well as excellent proven proficiency, SQL and Python. Ideally you would have a familiarity with developing pipelines which support Analysts who use RStudio, Power BI and/or GIS. You will have experience or the ability to up-skill in administering data services linked to the Data Lakehouse holistically, such as GitHub, Power BI.

You will work closely with and on behalf of teams across the Wildlife Trusts to ensure our data systems are secure, optimised, scalable, and cost-efficient. You should have a solid understanding of data security to ensure compliance with best practices. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams are essential. The Business Analyst position will see you play a key role in helping our organisation understand, shape and deliver effective change across people, process, data and technology. Working within the Business Analysis Practice, you will ensure that change initiatives are grounded in clear requirements, robust analysis and a deep understanding of user needs.

You will work closely with colleagues across Technology and the wider organisation to analyse issues, explore opportunities, and translate business needs into actionable insights and documentation. Your work will contribute directly to the delivery of high-quality solutions by producing user stories, process maps, functional and non-functional requirements, and supporting delivery teams through the full change lifecycle.

You will have significant experience working as a Business Analyst within complex organisations, delivering change across people process, data and technology. You will have demonstrable experience of requirement analysis, user story development and process mapping. You will be a strong communicator, able to engage with stakeholders and to translate ambiguity into clear, actionable insights.

You will be contracted to your home address, and you will perform most of your work remotely there, with occasional travel (incl. for monthly team meetings).

Key responsibilities

Financial Accounting Process

- Support credit control, supplier payments and reconciliations accurately and on time.

- Maintain accurate ledgers, journals, records and weekly bank reconciliations, including foreign-currency accounts.

- Prepare and schedule supplier payments and review expense claims in line with policy and approval controls.

- Build financial models and scenarios to support business cases, investment decisions and performance tracking.

- Provide responsive financial information to colleagues, members and external stakeholders.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

- Monitor performance against budgets, forecasts and KPIs, explaining trends and material variances.

- Produce clear monthly, quarterly and annual reports for financial and non-financial audiences.

- Support accurate, timely financial statements, disclosures and management information.

- Deliver monthly variance analysis, identify key drivers and recommend practical improvements.

- Analyse costs and resource allocation, identify efficiencies and assess the financial impact of business decisions.

- Respond to findings and help strengthen compliance, accuracy and process efficiency.

- Partner with teams on new initiatives, assessing feasibility, costs, benefits and profitability.

Credit Trading Platform & BIF (Bonsucro Impact Fund)

- Maintain Credit Trading Platform accounts and complete required due diligence.

- Support due diligence, grantee-report reviews, forecasting, cash flow and reserve tracking for the Bonsucro Impact Fund.

- Contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of office functions as needed.

Skills & Experience

- Relevant experience in FP&A, management accounting, finance analysis or a related role.

- Experience preparing clear analysis and information for managers and senior colleagues.

- Good financial modelling and data-analysis skills, with strong Excel capability

- Experience of accounting systems, with actual working experience of Xero a bonus

- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with financial and non-financial colleagues in a diverse international setting, across cultures and time zones.

- Organised, accurate and proactive, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Qualifications

- A degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.

- Progress towards, or interest in pursuing, a relevant professional qualification such as CIMA, ACA or ACCA would be an advantage.

DETAILS

Location: This role is London based, with presence in the Bonsucro office on 2-3 days per week.

About the role

We’re looking for a motivated and committed policy manager to join our policy, evidence and influencing team. In this role, you’ll help deliver change for people affected by breast cancer by leading our policy work on early diagnosis (including breast screening and cancer waiting times) as well as our work on improving services for people at increased risk of breast cancer. This role manages a senior policy officer. 

You’ll use insight from patients and healthcare professionals, data and research to develop evidence-based policy positions. And you’ll build strong relationships with external stakeholders to enable you to influence to deliver policy change. You’ll work with colleagues across the team and wider organisation to take our priorities to supporters, MPs, decision-makers and the media.

About you

With experience of working in relevant policy roles to deliver significant change, you’ll be an excellent communicator, well-organised and able to work under pressure to tight deadlines.  You’ll be confident working with a wide range of people and have experience of supervising or managing people. You’ll also have an excellent understanding of the policy and influencing landscape that Breast Cancer Now works in.
