Robertson Bell is exclusively partnering with the British Medical Association (BMA) in their search for a Group VAT Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. The BMA is the trade union and professional body for doctors in the UK. They represent, support and negotiate on behalf of all UK doctors and medical students.
Reporting into the Group Financial Controller, the Group VAT Accountant will be responsible for ensuring that the BMA Group (BMA and BMJPG) properly accounts for VAT and meets their statutory return, including overseas equivalents. You will proactively ensure that the finance systems and internal processes across the group are compliant and will manage relationships with external advisors and HMRC, as the organisation’s VAT Subject Matter Expert.

Through these efforts, the BMA continues to influence healthcare policy both within the UK and globally, and this Group VAT Accountant will be critical to supporting the continued development of their international reach.
The key duties of the role are as follows:
- Responsible for submission of accurate and timely statutory VAT returns (and international equivalents) for the Group.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations on a regular basis that supports the VAT return submission.
- Undertake annual reviews of the VAT position, including any exemptions applied during the year.
- Proactively ensure that the finance systems and internal processes across the Group are compliant with the required tax legislation and remain alert to any future changes.
- Proactively manage the relationship with external advisors and HMRC.
- Liaise with Group Auditors, providing support and information for financial audits, preparation of financial statements and other requests.
- Compile and communicate appropriate tax guidance and training wherever needed within the group, liaising with external advisors as necessary.
- Provide non-finance managers with insight, creativity and support whilst new business proposals are developed for proposed new income streams
To be successful as a Group VAT Accountant you'll ideally have:
- Accounting Qualification (CCAB) (essential)
- Significant experience in VAT within a commercial organisation (essential)
- Previous experience of working in a VAT compliance role (essential)
- Knowledge of applying VAT law and how it affects corporations.
- Knowledge and understanding of UK, EU and global VAT compliance issues
- Good relationship building and management skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail, accuracy and data analysis skills

We are seeking a proactive and analytical Assistant Finance and Operations Business Partner to join our Finance team. You will support the Finance and Operations Business Partner in facilitating communication and support between Finance and the wider organisation, ensuring that Finance is always at the forefront of any decision making. In a period where Alzheimer’s Research UK is looking to continue to grow, you will be key in making sure that financial and other operational impact is considered at all times.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
· Support the implementation of best financial practices.
· Facilitate communication between Finance and non-Finance teams.
· Process the quarterly financial forecasts and annual budgets using Excel and Microsoft Business Central.
· Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes, liaising with budget holders to ensure accuracy and engagement.
· Produce and update reports and graph analysis using Jet excel reports and Power BI.
· Support preparation of the monthly management reports and commentary by preparing initial statement of figures, proofreading the work of others and adding any information obtained through meetings with stakeholders.
· Administrate and track access to finance system.
· Provide financial training to operational stakeholders as required, to enhance financially sound decision making across the organisation.
· Act as a conduit between Corporate Services and the rest of the organisation to ensure that all operational aspects are consulted and considered before decisions are made.
· Lead on established finance onboarding processes and assist in continuous improvement of onboarding.
· Create clear and engaging finance documentation aimed at non-Finance users in collaboration with the Finance and Operations Business Partner.
· Help maintain financial controls and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
· Be the first port of call for business partnering team queries.
· Attend business partnering meetings, keep records and follow up on agreed actions.
· Partner teams on small project financial reviews and reporting, e.g. Reporting ROI on an activity and working with business to ensure accuracy.
· Opportunity to gain broader finance experience through training on and occasionally covering core Finance team member tasks.

What we are looking for:
· Part-qualified accountant or equivalent experience.

- This role is the equivalent of 3 days per week, however we are flexible to accommodate the regular working hours that work for you, between 9am-5.30pm Monday to Friday.

As the key representative and ambassador for rent and service charges for our client's business, you will manage key processes and stakeholder relationships. Working within the Finance directorate of around 60 people, you will manage a small team and will contribute to the strategic direction of the function.
Within this position you will provide an expert advisory service to both service owners and budget holders, ensuring Value for Money for customers whilst maximising rent and service charge recovery for the Group.
- With proven experience from within a rent and service charge management position, you will have strong leasehold and housing legislation knowledge.
- You will have a strong understanding of accounting procedures and processes to enable you to monitor and review service charge recovery for the business.
- You have good overall understanding and experience in working in a Finance team and strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Planning and organising resource for the rent and service charge calendar is vital as there are challenging deadlines.
- You will have an eye for detail and instil the need to monitor and analyse to your team as compliance within relevant legislation and service delivery to customers is imperative.
- You will be expected to measure and analyse existing systems and processes, developing creative solutions to improve services for our customers. The Direct Marketing Manager has operational and strategic responsibility in developing and implementing the Islamic Relief UK direct marketing programme. We work alongside people to help them escape poverty, build confidence, and find community.
Our principal activity is the prevention of food poverty and food insecurity by offering culturally appropriate food, fresh fruits, and
vegetables as well as dietary and religiously appropriate food which we have continued to run at our five-week sessions to local people for as long as they address the underlying cause.
We also provide a range of wraparound support, including advice services, particularly around employment and immigration through our Back2Work Team, Holiday Clubs for Children, Youth Groups, a Clothing Bank and our Spring Up Women’s group.

Main Purposes of Job and Key Tasks
We are seeking a highly organised and quick-witted Operations Officer to join our dynamic team at Spring Community Hub. The ideal candidate will have experience in operations or project management and excel at managing multiple priorities simultaneously. This role is crucial in supporting the day-to-day operations of the organisation and ensuring smooth workflows across various departments.
In addition to their primary operations duties, the Operations Officer will also play a key role in recruiting and managing volunteers, organising events, and assisting with fundraising activities. The Operations Officer will support impact, monitoring, and evaluation tasks to help demonstrate the effectiveness of our programs to funders and stakeholders.

General Overview of Role
The post-holder will be responsible for writing bid applications within Combat Stress. This will include:
- Support the development and delivery of Combat Stress's bid writing under the leadership of the Director of Fundraising (DoF) and Head of Trusts and Foundations (HTF), in order to support our role as a specialist UK-wide provider of mental health services to veterans with complex mental health needs.
