About the position 

This is an exciting opportunity to create change at scale, informing and promoting a practical transition to plant-based diets, in order to reduce the number of animals suffering in factory farms. Part of our Farmed Animal Campaigns team, the role will work to increase the quality and availability of plant-based options with major caterers and universities in the UK, impacting hundreds of thousands of meals daily. 

This role also includes an opportunity to support the delivery of a campaign to end the use of farrowing crates, one of the worst forms of cruelty to farmed animals in the UK today. In this role you will support the Senior Manager for Farmed Animal Campaigns to create public-facing campaign assets, and develop compelling research to underpin our policy and industry engagement.

Key areas of responsibility:  

• Initiate and maintain relationships with universities, food service companies and public sector institutions to support and oversee their delivery of goals to reduce meat/animal products  

• Work with consultants to develop and deliver our Forward Food culinary training programme to food service professionals, to support their understanding of plant-based food and marketing, and their role in the just protein transition.  

• Identify and support opportunities to encourage people to eat fewer animal products, including working with media and celebrity ambassadors. 

• Conduct environmental impact assessments on menus and food procurement to effectively monitor and report on progress towards meat-reduction goals 

• Deliver compelling and informed advocacy to UK political stakeholders to encourage the adoption of policies that catalyse a just protein transition and better farmed animal welfare. 

• Support development and delivery of HSI UK’s farmed animal campaigns strategies  

• Research and present on industry-related trends and developments in the plant-based food market and alternatives to cage confinement.

The focus will primarily be on our consumer health campaign (LIPH’s most developed campaign focused on driving more responsible practice in the food industry) but will also support other workstreams, including community health (a newer campaign focused on improving air quality) and driving up investor standards on health. About the role:

Kinship is in our third year of delivering the first national peer support service for kinship carers in England. We are looking for a new Associate Director of Peer Support and Community to build and develop our model and to take the team to the next phase of growth and impact.

Your first priority will be to oversee delivery of the Department for Education national Peer Support Service contract in England. You will lead the development of our hub and spoke model, with an enhanced offer of national resources and support together with a continued focus on on-the-ground support for kinship carers to set up and sustain a network of peer support groups. You will ensure all members of the team have clarity and are empowered to meet new targets and ways of working.

The role will also lead on the strategic development of peer support approaches in Wales (for which we are seeking funding), ensuring innovation and good practice is shared across the nations.

Kinship peer support groups are powerful levers for change in local, regional and national ecosystems. Your team will ensure that every kinship carer in England and Wales has access to a peer support group, or support to set up and create their own. The team will be purposeful about offering developmental support to all kinship peer support groups, including independent groups, ensuring they remain or become sustainable. And that they have resources, training and peer networks to support this.

Reflecting our strategic focus on developing our Kinship Community of more than 10,000 kinship carers across England and Wales, you will lead a new community strategy, co-ordinating the development of opportunities for community connection and community power. This will include taking leadership for developing the Kinship model of community engagement and integrating across all our ‘in person’ and digital services and activities.

You will ensure a collaborative approach with services, alignment with national and local campaigning activity, and work closely with marketing and communications colleagues to support kinship carer reach and engagement with our community offer.

We’re taking an integrated approach to our services, so you’ll collaborate well across teams to ensure that support groups and their leaders have easy access to high quality advice, information and training. The team will need to work closely with colleagues delivering our new training and support contract, funded by the Department for Education.

Key responsibilities include:

• Innovation of the Peer Support Service.

• Develop and rollout peer support and community strategy and operational plan.

An exercise qualification and experience of delivering health checks are highly desirable. However, if you do not hold these qualifications you will need to undergo a chair-based exercise qualification and blood pressure training. Applicants need to be willing to undergo this training. They also need to have the confidence and enthusiasm to deliver exercise to groups of older people whilst motivating participants that may have a variety of physical and cognitive challenges. These attributes will be assessed through a task during the interview process.

To support our continued growth, we are looking for a Fundraising Support Officer to join our growing Fundraising team to help increase income generation. This is an exciting time to join the organisation as we look to build a future of excellent frontline services and influential lived experience led campaigning. 

You will play an integral role in the fundraising team in an ambitious organisation with exciting opportunities for fundraisers to contribute to growth and development.

We are looking for the below skills and experience:

· Working understanding of fundraising processes in charities, including grant funding, budgets and donations.

· Experience working with online payment/donation platforms, extracting and manipulating data.

· Experience of working with Salesforce and Google analytics, or keen willingness to learn.

· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Strong IT skills, including SharePoint and advanced Excel.
