Mission Director

If so, then you might be just the right person to take on the key role of Mission Director with Church Mission Society (CMS).
Like many mission organisations, in recent years CMS has gone through a process of decentralisation and localisation, resulting in the establishment of CMS-Africa and Asia-CMS within their respective regions. In addition, while CMS once worked primarily through placing people from the West in cross-cultural contexts, we’ve broadened our approach to include supporting local mission organisations and their mission personnel, partnership grant-making and network-building. We particularly want to do this in edge contexts around the world: those places where Jesus’ name is rarely heard or where the church struggles to be.
As a member of the senior leadership team (SLT) of CMS, the Mission Director will play a key part in leading this strategic direction to success together with the CEO, the rest of the SLT, international partners and the mission team.

This post has an occupational requirement for the post holder to be a practising and committed Christian, committed to the aims, values and the ethos statement of CMS. In addition, they must be able and willing to travel internationally around 50 days per annum. An enhanced DBS / criminal records check is also required for this post.
Hours, salary and benefits:
· Permanent and full time (35 hours per week)
· Hybrid working: at least two days a week at CMS House, Oxfordshire
· Starting salary is circa £60,000 per annum depending on experience with a generous pension contribution: up to 10 per cent employer contribution on annual salary

Our new Capital Campaign will be an invaluable tool for you in developing funding from high-net-worth individuals in the UK. You will lead on its launch and recruit a Campaign Committee, stewarding them to deliver results.
Relationship Management
You will lead on the development and stewardship of long-term relationships with high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and family foundations.
Income Growth
You will drive the growth of an existing pipeline of high-net-worth individuals and develop this pipeline with new supporters from our individual giving stream and philanthropists who are new to HI, to secure significant gifts.
Collaboration
You will work closely with HI's Global Specialist in Major Giving, HI UK Trustees, our Federal Major Giving team, and international colleagues, to develop compelling proposals and provide timely impact reporting.
Stewardship
You will ensure exceptional donor stewardship and provide a high-quality experience for supporters at every stage of engagement.
Cultivation events
You will initiate and run high quality cultivation events for your donors and prospects, to form part of their stewardship journey.
Data Management
You will accurately manage donor records, communications, and reporting through our CRM.
Other duties
· Maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship with HI UK colleagues, the Federal fundraising and communication teams, and Major Giving counterparts in other HI national associations in Europe and North America.

Core Purpose:
The Head of Public Fundraising is a pivotal strategic leadership role at Make-A-Wish UK, responsible for the strategic direction, planning, delivery, long-term growth and performance of all public fundraising and supporter engagement activity.
This includes strategic oversight of all public income streams - individual giving (cash, regular giving, lottery, payroll), legacies, in-memory giving, challenge events, community fundraising, owned products, and innovation—as well as operational leadership of the Supporter Care team, which manages supporter care, income processing, data imports, and inbound queries for the whole organisation.
The role leads a multi-disciplinary team of around 20, across four core public fundraising and engagement functions, who are responsible for delivery of a high-performing public fundraising programme and sector-leading supporter care function - acquiring, engaging, and retaining supporters at scale, growing income sustainably and ensuring every interaction reflects Make-A-Wish’s values and drives long-term income growth.
This role contributes to over 50% of the charity’s total fundraised income, plays a critical role in long-term sustainability, and operates at cross-organisationally to embed a supporter-first culture, championing segmentation, stewardship and integrated journeys that drive lifetime value. The role is responsible for delivering significant and growing income targets, developing multi-year investment plans, and influencing organisation-wide strategies to ensure we are equipped to serve a growing supporter base. The postholder is part of the Extended Leadership Team (XLT), reporting to the Director of Income & Engagement, and influences decisions at Board level through strategic investment planning and performance reporting.

- Minimum 10 years’ experience in public fundraising, with a strong track record of income growth across a broad portfolio of income streams (e.g. individual giving, legacies, community, events, innovation, lottery).

You will provide a comprehensive homelessness service to customers with a range of housing related issues on behalf of Publica and involved with assisting in the day to day running of Publica’s Homeless Hostel’s.
Creating individual housing plans for every applicant which fully reflects their needs and circumstances, whilst managing and resolving caseloads for those currently experiencing a housing crisis. Sourcing appropriate short term and long term accommodation to assist the council in discharging its duties, whilst maintaining accurate records both written and electronically and ensuring they are captured and recorded accurately.
You will be required to represent the section/department at meetings/working parties/case conferences as appropriate and maintain a thorough knowledge of Housing and related legislation, including the Housing Acts, case law, the Homelessness Reduction code of guidance and good practice in the implementation thereof.
