About the role

We are looking to recruit a Youth Outreach Worker in London for a new role within our UK Safeguarding on Transport Programme. This is a 12-month outreach pilot engaging and safeguarding young people in and around Waterloo Station, helping identify and safeguard young people under 18 years at risk of criminal and sexual exploitation, county lines, missing from home, homelessness or family breakdown. This role does involve working regular unsociable hours including evenings and weekends.

You will be working to identify and  safeguard young people alongside trained volunteers and by engaging with key partners such as Southwestern Railway (SWR) Met Police, Southbank Staff, Train Operators, Youth Service and other local stakeholders.

You’ll play a key role in the development of our UK Programme and part of a dynamic team delivering Railway Children’s programme in the UK.

You will have completed relevant training, experience in safeguarding and in the issues relevant to vulnerable young and families. The Grant Operations Manager, part of the Impact and Charitable Programmes Department, will oversee the business-critical grant operations within the Grant Funding team. They will ensure there is robust decision making, effective processes to select and award the most impactful projects and programmes, and will enable the monitoring of outputs, outcomes and impact against the department strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Grant Governance and Compliance: Lead long-range grant governance planning for the team, oversee committees, review and refresh policies, ensure grant funding processes meet required standards, such as GDPR, and manage external audits.

A good understanding of charity sector fundraising, the UK medical research landscape, and the complexities of NHS-based research is desirable.

PSPA is the only UK charity providing support and information to people living with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD). These rapidly progressing neurological conditions are caused by the premature loss of nerve cells in certain parts of the brain. About the Role

The position is permanent and part-time. It is for 3 days per week, for the right candidate. The postholder must be available to work one Saturday a month. The main tasks of the role include: maintaining effective communication and correspondence with our vulnerable young clients and booking appointments; overseeing and updating our case management system; administrative financial work, costs billing and creating invoices; and general administrative duties including filing, scanning, shredding, archiving, photocopying, creating e-bundles, preparing and taking post to the post office, completing forms, and requesting subject access disclosure and other information from third parties.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy

About you

Essential Criteria

● Must have a comprehensive knowledge of relevant systems, processes, policies, and procedures involved in the effective management of not-for-profit organisations.

● Demonstrable experience of financial management including, but not limited to, budget creation and reprofiling, forecasting, financial strategy, payments and invoicing, reconciling cashbook and bank accounts, VAT submission, and working with accountants on annual accounts.

● Requires possession of, or ability to quickly acquire specialist or professional knowledge of dental caries, and engagement in appropriate professional activities to keep knowledge base and skills up to date and develop them further.

● Ability to communicate effectively with a global stakeholder base.

● Ability to influence the strategic direction of the organisation and collaborating on the development and implementation of global impact strategy.

● Able to decide own pattern of work, manage own workload and resources.

● Requires the ability to use own judgement, creativity and initiative to resolve complex problems (for which an immediate solution might not be clear).

● Able to take both collaborative and independent decisions that have implications on their own work and that of others and have global, complex and long-lasting impact.

● Ability to advise others on recommended actions, including the creation of guidance documents and training procedures as well as introduction of new policies.

● Able to act independently in order to adapt the service offered based on research and investigation of the needs and requirements of stakeholders

Desirable Criteria

● Have an understanding of international development and sensitivity for ensuring appropriate and effective relationships are built across cultural and geographic barriers.

● Experience running communications campaigns using social media.

● Experience with Xero finance management software.

● Experience with Microsoft 365, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

The role

This is a fantastic opportunity to utilise your educational skills, in a natural environment, whilst engaging young people,  as well as our local communities.  You will have a background and passion for teaching and engaging a range of audiences, to learn about the importance of our rivers, together with the ecosystems that survive and thrive around them.  You will have a hands on approach, with the ability to design, develop and deliver a range of educational activities to suit your varying audiences.  You will enjoy having time working independently to create your teaching sessions, either in an office environment or at home, as well as being outside, delivering your teaching or activities.

Whilst you will predominately cover the Surrey catchment area, you will be happy and flexible to work anywhere within the south east, together with some degree of flexibility with the hours that you work, so that events can be held on occasional evenings and weekends.  Your time will be spent at home developing your sessions, delivering a range of activities such as guided walks or talks, as well as hands on activities in and around a river, or educational events.

Overview of the Legacy Administrator role and the team

Barnabas Aid is looking for a detail-oriented and organised Legacy Administrator to join our International Support function within the Finance team. The Legacy Administrator will be responsible for managing all administrative aspects of legacy and will-related processes, ensuring the smooth and efficient handling of gifts received through bequests, wills, and estates. This role requires close attention to detail, accurate record-keeping, and a sensitive approach to working with legacy supporters and their families.

Working closely with the International Finance Director, the Legacy Administrator will be a key point of contact for all legacy-related matters, providing crucial support to the organisation’s legacy income and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. This role plays a vital part in ensuring that gifts left to Barnabas Aid are administered correctly and that supporters’ wishes are honoured.

Salary: £33,366 starting salary (salary range will increase to max £36,124 via the length of service) plus £4,190 Inner London Weighting if based in London per annum.

Contract: Permanent basis

Hours: Full-Time 35 hours per week (excluding lunch breaks)

Location: Any Refugee Action Office – Manchester, London, Birmingham, Bradford. We will consider a UK-based hybrid working option.

• Understanding of the digital landscape and emerging trends in digital fundraising.
