Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Finance Manager to join our team. You will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the Human Relief Foundation’s goals. This role requires strong leadership abilities and a comprehensive understanding of financial management principles.

Person Specification

• Must hold a professional accountancy qualification: ACCA, CIMA, ACA or CIPFA.

Responsibilities:

• Acting as point of contact and spokesperson for all financial aspects of the charity and a trading subsidiary company;

• Providing complete and parallel financial accounting services to the charity and it’s trading subsidiary arm, maintaining proper records of all financial activities, and reconciling any inter-company issues between the charity and it’s trading arm;

• Implementation & administration of a Pension Plan for both the charity and the subsidiary as and when required;

• Providing financial expertise, leadership and high quality support to the management team in the UK and our international offices;

• Dealing with all queries and compliance issues relating to HMRC, Charity Commission and the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator;

• Preparing quarterly reports for management and trustees and presenting these to management or the board of trustees;

• To ensure the provision of accurate and timely financial information including budgets and forecasts;

• Maintain income sheets of revenue including standing orders and any other monthly revenue such as grants or other payments;

• Integrating Sage, QuickBooks with existing internal charity databases.

Maintaining separate records and reconciliations for

• Restricted or ring fenced donations or grants for specific projects;

• Funds raised through specific fundraising events or for specific projects (including setting up and managing separate budgets and expense controls for each).

Managing and administering

• All day to day incoming & outgoing amounts, banking and cash flow handling and settling all approved invoices and expense claims;

• Payroll for the Charity office staff and the Charity shop employees through the subsidiary;

• Outgoing payments for the UK offices and making International payments;

• Receipt of payments and making payments, in the UK and for projects Internationally in the field whilst maintaining separate budgets and records and liaising where necessary with International Programmes Department and other relevant departments;

• You will be responsible for the management and development of the small team of finance staff in the UK and internationally. Completion of all relevant quarterly, annual and other statutory compliance requirements for both the charity and its subsidiary, including

• Preparation and submission of quarterly Gift Aid returns and quarterly VAT returns to HMRC;

• Preparation of annual end of year accounts, filings and documentation for annual audits;

• Filing all relevant records with HMRC, Inland Revenue, Charity Commission, and Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator;

• Maintaining all relevant records and implementing changes to existing handling of records as required for compliance purposes.

Job Summary

The Development Manager will be a dynamic and experienced fundraiser with strong technical skills in grant and funding solicitation, management and stewardship across Crisis Action’s current donor targets including major foundations, governments, and High Net Wealth Individuals (HNWI). They will serve as the anchor of a newly configured fundraising team designed to support Crisis Action to nurture its existing donors and secure the next generation of support for its ground-breaking work.

This role is pivotal in ensuring excellence in our outreach, proposals, reporting and communication to drive resource mobilisation that is essential for the organisation’s financial sustainability at a time when our distinct model and way of working is needed more than ever.

Principal responsibilities

Donor engagement and communications 

• Oversee and coordinate day-to-day engagement with current and prospective foundation, government and individual donors by members of the Crisis Action team
• Represent the organisation vis-à-vis donor representatives 
• Support HNWI donor benefits structure and cultivation plans
• Prepare compelling and timely donor reports, donor updates, letters of receipt and other outreach materials in collaboration with finance and campaign teams.

Grant management and oversight 

• Ensuring timely and skilled drafting, consultation and sign off of high-quality grant proposals 
• Timely acknowledgement of all contributions and compliance with donor requirements
• Preparation of high-quality proposal budgets and financial reports for donors in compliance with grant specifications and deadlines, in close cooperation with the Finance Team

Research and intelligence:

Essential Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in fundraising, donor relations, or development within the non-profit or international advocacy sector
• A proven track record of engaging with foundations and government officials to secure and manage grants
• Demonstrated ability to forge new donor partnerships, and a track record of bringing in new revenue
• Strong understanding of government and foundation funding landscapes with at least some familiarity with differences between them and the stewardship of major gifts from individual giving

Salary: We have set bands for the salary range for all positions at Crisis Action. The baseline of our salary range for this position is £40K per annum.

Responsibilities

The Legacy Administrator will support the smooth running of the Legacy Team, key responsibilities include:

• Processing incoming legacy post daily, scanning and uploading documents to the First-Class database. (Post is received in a variety of ways).
• Monitoring the legacy inbox, responding to calls and emails, and managing electronic filing.
• Processing all legacy income, liaising with the Database Team to ensure correct allocation and maintaining the legacy pipeline.
• Managing a personal caseload of pecuniary legacies in the UK and Ireland, liaising with executors and solicitors (training provided).
• Issuing formal receipts for income received.
• Building strong relationships with co-beneficiary charities and, with support, liaising with external professionals to minimise costs and maximise opportunities.

As an Individual Giving Manager, your role will have overall responsibility for the operational delivery of the Individual Giving strategy. You will use proven fundraising techniques across print and digital to grow and diversify our programme, engaging with both new and existing audiences to support our work with children with brain injury and neurodisability.

You will also be responsible for developing and implementing legacy marketing plans, utilising channels including direct marketing, digital and events. Alongside this, your role will focus on our mid value programme, producing and developing campaigns and stewardship plans aimed specifically for this audience.

The Individual Giving team are a small and ambitious team who sit within Public Fundraising and form part of a wider Fundraising and Communications directorate. The team is responsible for generating around £1m in income a year, through recruiting new donors and building relationships with existing donors, including legacies and mid value supporters. We have ambitious plans for growth and, as part of a supporter marketing remit, are developing more holistic relationships with our supporter base.

Reporting to the Senior Individual Giving Manager, you will take overall responsibility for planning, managing and delivering innovative and impactful supporter campaigns across a range of channels. With the ability to resolve everyday challenges and obstacles independently, you will be expected to deliver a range of Direct Marketing fundraising campaigns through the full creative process, from briefing to concept, through to final delivery, as well as reviewing results and making recommendations. Campaign project management:

• Plan, manage and deliver innovative and impactful supporter campaigns across a range of channels, including donor development, supporter acquisition and prize led fundraising activities.
• Support the Senior Individual Giving Manager in the setting of budgets and achieve income targets outlined in annual plans.

• Support the creation and testing of an integrated supporter journey programme that is segment and channel based, in collaboration with colleagues across the wider Fundraising department.

• Closely monitor campaign results and provide updates on performance.
• Produce post-campaign analysis reports.

Legacy marketing and administration:

Mid value programme:

You will oversee Community Fundraising and Volunteering at Jerry Green Dog Rescue, and will be instrumental in setting the future strategy for Community Fundraising from individuals, groups and corporates, as well as leading on the Volunteering strategy for across the charity.

This role is Hybrid – minimum 1 day per fortnight at one of our centres (Nottinghamshire, North Lincolnshire, South Lincolnshire), with travel across our regions to support your team and visit our centres and shops as required. You will manage 2 x Volunteer and Community Fundraising Officers and 1 x Volunteer Administration Assistant.

As the Volunteering and Community Fundraising Manager you will be responsible for:

· Developing and defining the Community Fundraising strategy and Volunteering strategy, with income stream responsibility for Community, Corporate, Third Party and Virtual Products.

· Implementing excellent supporter experience across community fundraising and volunteering.

· Leading on exciting projects such as the growth of our Virtual Products and Third Party event offering for supporters.

· Inspiring and motivating your team of talented individuals to achieve their objectives, instilling a culture of trust, innovation and being solution-focussed.

· Working collaboratively across the organisation, and as part of the ‘Leads’ group to achieve the aims of our organisational strategy

· Acting as an ambassador for Jerry Green Dog Rescue, and living our values in everything you do, with your colleagues, supporters and volunteers.

· Keeping up to date with sector trends across community fundraising and volunteering, and ensuring adherence to relevant legislative requirements.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, whose mission is to see a time when no deaf person feels alone, is seeking a Senior Trusts and Foundations Manager to develop and secure six and seven figure, multi-year grants from trusts, foundations and other institutional grant funders, e.g. the National Lottery.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People has been creating life-changing partnerships between hearing dogs and deaf recipients since 1982. As well as acting as an ear to their partners and alerting them to sounds, the charity’s clever and expertly trained dogs help deaf people to live life with confidence and independence, whilst providing love, companionship and emotional support.

Following on from a strategic review, the charity is now building a new Income Generation Directorate, to enable them to transform many more lives across the UK. This role will be critical to help Hearing Dogs reach their goals to diversify income, grow their philanthropy programme and increase engagement and impact.

Reporting to the Head of Trusts and Foundations, this role will work as part of a small but high department to deliver objectives and income targets. The role will deputise for the Head of Trusts and Foundations as required and support in the development of the strategy for the department, working across the organisation with colleagues, senior staff, trustees and external trusts and foundation contacts. A key focus of the role will be making bids and writing applications to maximise financial support from charitable trusts and foundations in a team which has a target of £1.15m in 2025-26, growing to £2.1m by 2029-30.

The ideal candidates will have a substantial background in Trusts and Foundation fundraising within the charity sector and experience of delivering excellent stewardship with external stakeholders. You will have experience of large scale and complex (£ six/seven figure) bid writing for specific projects over multiple years. Excellent and persuasive writing skills and a sharp eye for details will be essential alongside strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills. You will be approachable, with a  ‘hands-on’ approach and a flexible ‘can do’ proactive attitude and, importantly, you will have a commitment to understand the needs of Deaf People and a commitment to our values and  culture.

The Finance & HR Manager will sit within the Development Team to support the smooth and efficient operation of the charity. This role will assist in managing financial processes and lead on recruitment, HR policies, and people operations — helping to maintain a transparent, inclusive, and positive working environment.

This position is ideal for someone seeking part-time work who holds either a finance assistant qualification or an accountancy qualification. Candidates with a finance assistant background will work closely with the finance department of our parent organisation, Oasis, to manage accounts and financial operations. Those with full accountancy qualifications may take direct ownership of financial oversight.

Finance

· Support the Operations Officer to reconcile transactions, issue invoices, process payments, and file quarterly Gift Aid claims.

· Oversee and manage Xero, ensuring all transactions are accurately coded and financial reporting is transparent and up to date.

· Prepare regular cash flow statements, budgets, and financial position reports for the Senior Leadership Team to support data-driven decision-making.

· Actively monitor income and expenditure, making recommendations to ensure financial sustainability and strategic use of resources.

· Manage STOP THE TRAFFIK’s bank accounts, ensuring the safe handling and ethical investment of reserves.

· Produce quarterly financial papers for the Board of Trustees and lead on the annual audit process, preparing all necessary documentation for external auditors.

· Liaise with the Oasis finance department (where relevant) to ensure smooth coordination of accounting processes and compliance with organisational standards.

Human Resources & Data Protection

· Lead the annual review of all organisational policies, ensuring they reflect current legislation and best practice, with support from the Operations Officer.

· Oversee recruitment processes, supporting hiring managers to ensure equitable, transparent, and inclusive hiring practices.

· Coordinate quarterly team surveys, analyse feedback, and make recommendations to strengthen workplace culture and wellbeing.

· Support the Executive Team in delivering STOP THE TRAFFIK’s people strategy, fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performing working environment.

· Serve as the organisation’s Data Protection Officer (DPO), getting pro-bono advice from our network where needed for support.

Pro-bono Legal Coordination

· Manage network of pro-bono legal advisors to oversee all organisational contracts with partners, ensuring they align with key terms agreed with Senior Leadership and our Risk Committee, supported by the Director of Development.

· Responsible for managing our internal legal sign-off process, and ensuring all legal requests are managed in an accurate and timely manner.
