Here at Staffordshire North, we offer various services providing advice on debt, immigration, benefits, consumer and energy. Our Consumer Service alone helps on average 120,000 consumers each year across the country to tackle the problems they face, for example energy supply, holidays and transport, buying or repairing a car, scams, problems with purchases for goods or services, post, insurance and many more.
As a Consumer Service advisor, you will be responsible for handling calls, webchat and webforms received through our national help desk. You will assist consumers by providing free advice and information on contracts for goods and services before, during, or after purchase, including legislation or industry regulations and practical guidance.
Purpose of the job:
Through your excellent communication skills and attention to detail, you will be able to provide accurate and detailed information to consumers and businesses across the country, whilst achieving your individual KPI’s and targets.
By joining us as a consumer service advisor you’ll launch your career into the 3rd sector, and we’ll provide you with in-depth induction training where you’ll quickly become an expert in providing advice to help consumers with the problems they face. Upon completion of probation, you will be able to develop your skills opening up opportunities for progression within the team when available.
Flexibility is a key characteristic of all our posts and the post-holder may be asked to carry out other tasks consistent with the grade from time to time.

Debt & Welfare Benefits Adviser / Debt & Welfare Benefits Trainee Adviser
Four posts
Salary: £29,063 pa for experienced adviser.
£23,500 pa for trainee (review after 6-months)
35 hours per week, 25 days A/L + contributory pension scheme
Birmingham Settlement has an opportunity to join our Money Advice Team, either as an experienced Debt & Welfare Benefits Adviser or a Debt & Welfare Benefits Trainee Adviser.
As an experienced Debt & Welfare Benefits Adviser you will already have a background in providing effective, high-quality debt and welfare benefits advice to a wide range of clients in differing circumstance. As a Trainee you will have a basic knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting people experiencing debt and benefit problems along with some experience in an advice service or customer facing setting along with the ability and willingness to undertake training and development.
Based at our Newtown office with outreach work in other areas of the city, you will be adaptable with excellent communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to manage your own workload.
You will be joining a long established and professional Money Advice Team providing specialist advice with a holistic approach that covers all areas of debt and welfare benefit along with training to build and continually improve money management and financial capability.

· a good knowledge of housing and homelessness, local authorities and the charity sector
· able to develop strong and lasting relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including young people who are at the heart of our service delivery.
· senior experience in an organisation of similar scale and complexity
· sound financial and commercial acumen with a track record of identifying and securing funding
