About the role

Do you live in Edinburgh or the surrounding area?

As a senior community fundraiser, you’ll be an important part of the team building Breast Cancer Now’s presence in Scotland, with a particular focus on Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. 

We’re looking for someone who is an experienced relationship builder, someone who can find and develop new supporters.  You’ll need excellent local knowledge, and the enthusiasm to develop a brand-new fundraising region.

The successful candidate will also be part of the team working on our large-scale project supporting and growing Asda Tickled Pink, our award-winning partnership with Asda and CoppaFeel! which has already raised over £100 million.

You’ll work directly with passionate colleagues across Asda stores in your region driving new fundraising initiatives, inspiring communities and celebrating incredible successes.

No 2 days will look the same as you travel, connect and engage supporters to help us grow income to deliver our mission.

The role is initially offered as an 18-month contract with the potential to become permanent

About you

You’re confident in approaching new contacts and are experienced in developing new relationships from scratch. This may currently be in a customer service, account management or stewardship role.

You’re experienced in managing and building new and established relationships with a focus on retention and income growth.

You’re enthusiastic, proactive, organised and unafraid to test and try new ideas.

You’re required to be involved being out and about in the community that you’re building, so you must be able to work independently outside of the office in varying locations and enjoy being busy.

Previous experience working in a charity is not required.

Primary location of role

This is a remote role, and the candidate will need to be based in the Edinburgh area with unlimited access to their own car. Regular travel will be required to meet supporters and visit Asda stores in your region, as well as occasional travel to our London, Sheffield or Glasgow office.

Senior Communications Manager 

FCDO Research Commissioning Centre (3ie)

1.  Background 

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Research Commissioning Centre (RCC) has been established to commission and manage research to enhance development and foreign policy impact. The RCC, co-led by the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) and the University of Birmingham, provides support to FCDO teams for commissioning and delivering high-quality and impactful research. It addresses challenges associated with research bureaucracy by providing a streamlined process for commissioning and delivering FCDO-funded research.

This role is based at 3ie, working closely with colleagues at the FCDO, University of Birmingham and across the RCC consortium. This is a fixed-term position for the RCC, which is a pilot project that began on the 6th June, 2023, and is due to run until the 5th June, 2028. The role is linked directly to the project funding. 

The International Initiative of Impact Evaluation is a mission-driven, non-profit organization dedicated to using evidence to transform people's lives in low- and middle-income countries. We are the global leader in funding, producing, and synthesizing high-quality evidence of what works, for whom, how, why and at what cost. We believe better policy-relevant evidence will make development more effective. 3ie is a registered non-governmental organization in the US. It has offices in New Delhi, London and Washington, DC.  

2.  Position summary 

3ie is inviting applications for a Senior Communications Manager to join the FCDO Research Commissioning Centre (RCC) team at 3ie. With the RCC entering its third year of operation, this is an exciting time to join the project. 

The role will be responsible for the strategic management of RCC communications and for the oversight and management of the Global Research and Technology Development (GRTD) website .  The position will work closely with the team of the FCDO Chief Scientific Adviser and FCDO’s Deputy Head of Research to support the development and rollout of GRTD, suiting a strategic thinker with experience or knowledge of leading communications and engagement campaigns.

The successful candidate will be a highly organised, skilled communicator with excellent command over producing a range of communication and knowledge products such as blogs, policy briefs, infographics, impact stories and case studies, as well as editing technical writing. Prior experience in social media and event management, is desirable. They will be a self-starter with a can-do, team-player attitude.
The ideal candidate will be based in the UK and have the flexibility to travel to London for in-person meetings and events as required. The candidate will need to work according to UK office hours. The role will largely be remote working with dedicated in-person time with the RCC team and with FCDO. 

3. Key job responsibilities
a)  GRTD website development oversight and strategy; FCDO GRTD communications, branding and development

• Work with FCDO to develop a coherent strategy and campaign for engaging with and communicating GRTD to external partners. Manage the relationship with FCDO communications counterparts in delivering the vision for GRTD
• Lead engagement with FCDO to determine design of enhancements and new features for GRTD; oversee these developments, managing external contractors (when required) and working with technical colleagues to ensure developments are fit for purpose
• Collaborate with FCDO teams to support the rollout and visibility of the GRTD brand
• Contribute to the development and implementation of editorial standards, templates, and guidance for GRTD content, in coordination with FCDO and RCC stakeholders
• Assist in the dissemination of impact stories and research outputs that align with GRTD branding and strategic objectives
• Support stakeholder engagement activities and campaigns led by FCDO to promote the GRTD platform, where relevant to RCC-funded research
• Monitor digital engagement with and develop KPIs to track performance, with a focus on continuous improvement and optimization

b)  RCC presence on GRTD

• Ensure the RCC is adequately presented on GRTD and that the design and structure of RCC pages is coherent and promotes the RCC vision
• Create, edit and post new website content for the RCC on GRTD as required
• Coordinate with the 3ie Strategic Communications Office to monitor the website regularly to ensure content is updated and bugs are identified.

c)  RCC Communications
       Strategy: 

• Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of the RCC’s overall communication and engagement strategy, including areas of thought leadership around best practice evidence led by the RCC. 

      Content: 

• Strategise on new communication products (including website content, impact stories, blogs, media articles, social media and multimedia content), launches, events, and online promotions Edit, manage and publish research commissioning call documents and participate and manage related events such as Early Market Engagements, FAQ sessions, etc.
• Work with RCC Grantees and project teams editing and publishing RCC publications and deliverables, including reports, briefs and other publications. 
• Create social media content and manage dissemination through 3ie’s social media channels, working with 3ie colleagues (NB: RCC social media channels may be established and in this case the role will directly manage these). 
• Events and engagement: Provide end-to-end support for workshops and events, including content, budget, logistics, communication and marketing
• Provide inputs for communication and implementation plans for research funded by the RCC.

d)  Project management: Ensure that RCC publications and communications products are processed in a timely manner and published on GRTD

• Maintain and update process documents, guidelines and templates for external communications for the RCC and for communications from grantees.
• Oversee the implementation of and improvements to RCC’s branding and logo suite as needed.

e)  Stakeholder support: Work closely with RCC staff to cultivate relationships across the research ecosystem, consortium and with grantees. This is likely to include RCC representation at external events.

f)  Support RCC grantees: Provide guidance and advise on dissemination activities to grant recipients. Review and approve the engagement and dissemination products and plans submitted by RCC grant recipients as part of their work on RCC-funded projects and support the wider RCC team to monitor engagement activities undertaken by grantees.

g)  Knowledge sharing: Collect and collate impact stories for the RCC to support both learning and reporting requirements

4. Qualifications and skills 

• Master’s degree in journalism, public affairs, marketing, or a field directly relevant to international development, including formal communication training. Exceptional candidates with a bachelor's degree and extensive work experience may be considered
• At least seven to ten years of experience in a communication role in development sector.
• Proven ability to plan and implement communication and engagement strategies for organizations and research projects
• Knowledge of tools for graphic design, content management, social media and event management is desirable (e.g., InDesign, Photoshop, Mailchimp, Canva, Drupal, etc.)
• Proven project management and coordination skills to ensure on-time delivery 
• Excellent English writing and editing skills; cross-platform writing experience is desirable
• Self-motivated, creative, and multi-tasker with a proven ability to work under tight deadlines accurately and professionally
• Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work in a matrix-organized team environment
• Experience working with UK government departments is desirable

Purpose

The National Leader Wales role is a pioneering leadership role. We expect the role to make contacts across the Christian community in Wales, linking local congregations, denominations and movements with the mission of CAP. Our aim is to significantly increase the number of churches that we partner with so that more Welsh people are helped with their journey out of poverty and are introduced to the person of Jesus. The Church is the focus of CAP's vision and, as such, we place great importance on how we interact with, equip and support them.  This role will help ensure that we fulfil our vision to see Transformed Lives, Thriving Churches and an end to UK poverty. An understanding of the church context of Wales, and a dynamic ability to build relationships that lead to partnerships that help outwork our vision is vital. In time, we also expect the role to develop relationships with Government, statutory bodies and the third sector, and to develop partnership opportunities there as they arise. We are looking for a proactive, resilient, innovative leader to grasp this challenge.

The National Leader Wales role also exists to serve our partner churches through excellent support of our existing church partners. They will work with the Head of Devolved Nations to create a Welsh National Plan (in the context of CAP's overall aims and objectives) and lead on the national strategy to deliver that plan. They will ensure a strong sense of national identity and unity, with strong relationships between CAP's Devolved Nations Hub Team and local centres throughout Wales. 

Collaborative working across the organisation will be key to ensuring a consistent approach to how we serve The Church and our clients through excellent products and services. Working across CAP will also be essential to ensure that other directorates are engaging with partner churches in a way that inspires and equips them. 

Reports to: Head of Devolved Nations

This role will also hold the responsibility of representing CAP with credibility and influence to national industry and government stakeholders and denominational leaders, fostering valuable partnerships. This is a key area of responsibility as strengthening our relationships with the wider faith community, statutory and voluntary sector is vital to growing our work in Wales.

Responsibilities

• The National Leader is responsible for creating a national development plan and collaborating with the Head of Devolved Nations to ensure plans are aligned with CAP's mission, built into wider CAP strategy and facilitating the delivery of impactful community services.
• The National Leader will engage with local congregations, denominations and Christian movements in Wales to link them with the mission of CAP.
• The National Leader will seek opportunities and partners to achieve a  net growth of our church partnerships of debt centres and coaching services  by 3 each year so that the Welsh network reaches a sustainable size.
• The National Leader will develop relationships and seek partnership opportunities with Government, Statutory bodies and the third sector.
• The National Leader is responsible for the management and development of existing church partnerships within Wales, supporting the existing network of 10 CAP centres/services. 
• Lead the CAP team across Wales, inspiring and equipping CAP Local Workers and church leaders to bring CAP's vision to life within their communities, and linking them with our support hub teams, to deliver against CAP's goal 'To inspire and equip the UK Church to help people out of poverty and become followers of Jesus'.

Partnership & Representation

• Work with the Head of Devolved Nations to be the key CAP representative within Wales, engaging with churches, denominational leaders and movements, fostering valuable partnerships. 
• Working with our Mission and Movement teams to engage with the wider Welsh network of churches, denominations and movements.
• Attend and speak at some of the centre launch talks and other appropriate opportunities to promote CAP within the nation.
• Work closely with the Partnership Development team to agree a national strategy for opening new centres/services, and to actively seek opportunities for the openings of new services, and to identify organic growth from existing partner churches.
• To seek a net growth of 3 services and centres annually.
• To engage with and to represent CAP on national bodies or to government departments in Wales (e.g. the Senedd).
• To be proactive in building strategic partnerships with Government, statutory and third sector bodies.
• Lead/ support relationships with organisations located within Wales (e.g. utility providers, council officials etc).
• In partnership with Mission and Movement and in line with our referrals strategy; build relationships and promote the work of CAP with referral agencies at a national level to increase the number of people seeking CAP's help
• Support and/or be the key spokesperson for CAP in regional/national media.

Leadership of services and Local CAP Workers

• Actively participate in cultivating and inspiring a thriving CAP culture across the Welsh network, empowering CAP Local teams through clear and compelling communication.
• Champion CAP's mission of evangelism and discipleship, ensuring its centrality in all CAP activities. Work with the Head of Mission, Evangelism & Discipleship and Head of Devolved Nations to develop the overall MED strategy for Wales.
• To provide excellent management of existing services within Wales; identifying areas to improve, creating and driving forward a strategy for excellence, supporting their centres with compassion, care and excellence.
• Maintain strong Church Partner relationships, ensuring contributions support our work and expand our reach.
• To own the delivery of strategies for the funding, recruitment, training, and ongoing development of future Welsh based CAP staff, fostering excellence and empowerment.
• To ensure consistent application of best practices and quality standards across local CAP workers in national services.
• To celebrate achievements and highlight success both within the nation and sharing with the wider CAP family.
• Leading our Welsh network to engage with all opportunities to connect into the central CAP organisation (e.g. events, attending conferences, supporting projects, PR and referral opportunities).
• To lead or assist on key CAP events in Wales, including, but not limited to, United conferences, national selection days and national team days, frontline revive days and hub/cluster events.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure regulatory compliance for Debt Centres is adhered to and the quality of service delivered is maintained at a compliant level, in conjunction with the central compliance team.
• Ensure local CAP workers complete all annual regulatory compliance, including safeguarding declarations, audits, and any other legal or statutory requirements.
• Work alongside the Training teams to support the training of all new CAP service workers, including delivering training sessions for Equip training, webinars, and other required training annually.

Fundraising

• Collaborate with Mission and Movement and Head of Devolved nations to support national relationships with major donors to CAP.
• Play a central role in wider national funding opportunities linked to Service Performance and Delivery. 
• Support the Mission and Movement department in delivering impactful supporter engagement initiatives, such as donor dinners, while fostering a culture of proactive fundraising engagement to support both church and costs central to CAP. 
• Support with the seeking out of new localised funding opportunities to support the churches within the nation.

For over 15 years, Scotty's Little Soldiers has been supporting children and young people who have been bereaved of a parent who served in the British Armed Forces.  We are about to embark on an exciting journey which will see the charity evolve to support anyone affected by a military-connected bereavement and ultimately empower a community of more than 25,000 bereaved individuals and their families by 2035.

Founded in 2010 by Nikki Scott following the death of her husband, Corporal Lee Scott, the charity currently offers a unique blend of emotional, practical, and educational support to over 750 young people.

Role Mission.

To lead the creation and delivery of Scotty’s new navigating entitlements casework (START) Programme, a single point of contact service designed to support anyone affected by military-connected bereavement. 

This is a hands-on, pioneering role. You’ll help shape the infrastructure, recruit and lead a small squad of caseworkers, and ensure that everyone in the bereaved military community receives compassionate, personalised, and well-coordinated support. 

The key responsibilities of this role are:

Service Design & Delivery 

• Working closely with the Head of Service, lead the operational planning and phased rollout of the START Programme

• Develop and refine service model, workflows, triage criteria, and beneficiary journeys 

• Own the SPOC offer, ensuring clear onboarding, needs assessments, support plans, and follow-up 

• Ensure the service is trauma-informed, inclusive, and responsive to beneficiary feedback 

• Manage your own caseload alongside Programme Head responsibilities. 

Team Leadership & Development 

• Help recruit and then directly support 1 initial caseworker (with potential to grow team in 2027 depending on demand) 

• Provide coaching, oversight, and reflective practice opportunities for squad members 

• Create a strong squad culture that reflects The Scotty’s Way and encourages personal growth 

• Lead START Programme Daily Huddles 

Collaboration & Partnership 

• Build strong referral pathways with external organisations (military & non-military charities, NHS, social care) 

• Become the charity’s expert on navigating entitlements for the bereaved community.

The key responsibilities of this role are:

Impact Measurement 

• Develop and maintain frameworks to measure the outcomes of all services and programmes. 

• Ensure Success Measures (KPIs) and qualitative feedback tools are aligned to our Theory of Change. 

• Work with the Families (service delivery) team to embed consistent and meaningful data collection across all services. 

• Design simple, automated reporting processes to reduce manual admin and improve data use. 

Research & Insight 

• Lead internal research projects using beneficiary data, surveys, and feedback loops.

Role Description

The purpose of the Executive Assistant role is to provide administrative, organisational and coordination support to the Executive Team, ensuring their time and attention are aligned with organisational priorities, goals, and objectives. In2STEM Alumni Officer

Job Description 

Reports to: Head of Programmes

Part Time (0.6) - £27,675 FTE 

As the Alumni Officer, you will be someone who enjoys working with young people and is passionate about supporting them to progress to vibrant degrees and careers in STEM. The post holder will have strong knowledge and understanding of the barriers facing young people from low socioeconomic backgrounds accessing STEM education and careers across the UK.

The Alumni Officer will deliver the continuation of support for hundreds young people who complete the In2STEM programme every year, supporting them with continued support throughout year 13/S6 as they progress to post FE education, apprenticeships and training, and providing long term careers opportunities.

The post holder will be an organised and motivated self-starter who thrives in the face of change, enjoys creative problem solving, working in a team and can achieve deadlines on a tight timescale.

In2scienceUK is a remote-based organisation, that requires occasional travel across the UK for events, internal & external meetings and staff co-working days.

Your specific duties will include:

• Evaluate existing alumni activities to recommend and implement improvements and new initiatives to support the delivery of a high quality programme experience to support In2STEM alumni, aligning with learning objectives, feedback and our theory of change.

• Develop and deliver engaging alumni communications e.g. newsletters & email updates, to keep In2STEM alumni informed of news, opportunities and events.

• Plan, organise and support the delivery of online workshops aligned to support In2STEM alumni progression milestones. 

• Maintaining up to date alumni records, in accordance with data protection, as well as working closely with the Data, Impact and Evaluation Manager to evaluate In2STEM participant progression.

• Support with the collection and creation of case studies and alumni stories to promote alumni achievements and strengthen the community.

• Support the planning and delivery of organisational in-person events e.g. celebration days/conferences.

• Work closely with the In2STEM programme and fundraising teams to ensure funder requirements are met.

As duties and responsibilities change, the job description will be reviewed and amended in consultation with the post holder. The post holder will carry out any other duties that are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the line manager. All staff must undertake all mandatory training, checks and compliance as instructed by the organisation.

Essential: 

• Prior experience managing alumni communities.

• Prior experience of working with students transitioning from further education (particularly year 13/S6) into STEM degrees and careers.

• Excellent organisational skills, able to multitask and manage a varied workload while paying attention to the tiny details

• Experience delivering programmes and/or projects within the education, career development and/or employability sector.

• An understanding of the social and economic barriers that prevent some people from progressing into STEM degrees and careers.

• Experience working with one or more of the following groups: young people, people from low-socioeconomic backgrounds, volunteers, universities or STEM professionals/employers.

• Experience developing and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at various levels.

• Experience designing and delivering events, both online and in-person, such as workshops and networking events.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong presentation skills and an ability to adapt to a range of audiences.

• Flexible and adaptable, with an ability to pick up new tasks quickly, showing resilience when faced with challenges.

• Knowledge, understanding or experience of programme or project evaluation. 

• Working collaboratively and supporting fostering a collegiate workplace environment.

• Upholds the values of our code of conduct and is respectful to all.

• Competent user of Google Suite, Word, Excel, Canva, Powerpoint, Gmail, email marketing software.

Desirable: 

• Level 6 qualification or higher in careers guidance and development from the CDI.

• Prior experience of working with Gatsby Benchmarks of good careers guidance.

• Prior knowledge or experience of GDPR and safeguarding.

• Experience of using task/project management software and databases.

We’re looking for an exceptional Head of Management Accounts to lead our financial planning and analysis function and ensure our budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes deliver accuracy, insight and long-term financial sustainability. You’ll shape and develop the management accounting team while leading business partnering activity and strengthening financial understanding across the organisation.

The Role:

• Lead the Trust’s financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, transparency and long-term financial sustainability.
• Act as a strategic financial partner to senior leaders, providing insight, analysis and recommendations that inform strategic and operational decision-making.
• Oversee financial management across all directorates, including cash flow, reserves and investment planning, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and risk appetite.
• Support the CFO in the preparation of financial reports and presentations for trustees, funders and other external stakeholders.
• Lead the monthly management accounts, year-end process, audit activity and statutory reporting, ensuring compliance and timely delivery.
• Develop and embed a strong business partnering culture, building financial capability, confidence and accountability among budget holders and project leads.
• Drive the continuous improvement of management accounting processes, reporting and controls to enhance efficiency, consistency and data integrity.

The Candidate:
We are looking for candidates who have the following:

• CCAB qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent international qualification).
• Proven experience leading management accounting and financial planning teams in a complex charity or commercial organisation.
• Significant experience developing and reviewing monthly management accounts, including reconciliations, variance analysis and forecasting.
• Excellent understanding of finance systems and data flow across diverse systems, including CRM integration.
• Demonstrable experience supporting restricted fund budgeting and monitoring, and financial partnering with fundraising or project-based teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.
