Job description

About us

City Bridge Foundation is a 900-year-old charity that owns and maintains five of London’s Thames bridges, including Tower Bridge. Since 1995, we have awarded over £840 million to charitable organisations working to tackle inequality and injustice across London. We bridge London, we connect communities.

The role

This role will play a critical role in supporting the Funding Team with all aspects of its work. The Senior Funding Officer role will manage a team of Funding Officers and temporary staff to deliver an effective and efficient business support function for City Bridge Foundation which includes the operational delivery of a public enquiry service and the end-to-end processing of charitable funding applications and proposals. They will work alongside the Senior Funding Officer responsible for the Customer Relationship Management software to instil new processes and procedures across the team.

This role will also manage a portfolio of established charitable funding agreements; being the named contact for the charitable organisations in the portfolio; ensuring monitoring and evaluation are carried out in line with the funding agreements; distilling any learning from the portfolio in line with our Impact and Learning Strategy.

About you

In terms of experience, you’ll be well-versed in managing a team of business support staff who provide administrative support to charitable or similar organisations and provide advice to stakeholders of all levels. You should also have experience working collaboratively in small teams, along with data input and data management within Customer Relationship Management databases.

You’ll also have sound written, verbal communication skills, excellent IT literacy and strong interpersonal skills. An effective analytical problem-solver, you’ll be able to manage competing deadlines without losing the quality of your work. You should have a good knowledge of funding in the voluntary and community sectors, a good understanding of charity accounting, monitoring and evaluation and grant portfolio management.

We are a values-based and welcomes applications from all sectors and communities. Equity, diversity and inclusion is as important in our staff and governance as it is in our work.   We support flexible working and job-shares. We are a Disability Confident employer and positively welcome applications from disabled people.

If this role is advertised as a secondment, secondments are subject to the agreement of your department releasing you, therefore, you need to discuss this with your line manager prior to applying. The purpose of this will be to discuss what, if any, impact your secondment might have on the service and service delivery should your application be successful, and how this might be addressed.

The City of London Corporation is committed to Equal Opportunities and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.

We reserve the right to close the advert earlier should we receive a high number of applications.

Because our roles are so varied, we don’t have a ‘one size fits all’ policy for workplace attendance. How many days a week you’ll be required to attend your workplace will depend on the requirements of your role. It’s important that you understand the requirements before applying to ensure you are able to meet them. We are committed to considering requests to work flexibly and job share. Requests will be considered by the recruiting manager in line with our policies and business needs.

For more information on our categories for workplace attendance, please view our guide.

We will be reviewing this policy and approach at regular intervals to ensure we’re meeting our attendance needs.
