Join Dementia UK as Policy and Public Affairs Manager (Scotland) and play a pivotal role in shaping our influence as we deliver our 2025–30 strategy. This new role reflects a significant investment in expanding our Campaigns, Policy and Public Affairs function, strengthening our ability to drive change across all nations of the UK. You will lead our work to amplify Dementia UK’s voice in Scotland, ensuring that the experiences of people living with dementia, and the Admiral Nurses who support them, drive meaningful improvements in care and support.
You will spearhead our political and policy engagement in Scotland, building trusted relationships with MSPs, civil servants, political advisers and sector partners. Through sharp political insight and rigorous policy development, you will help shape our influencing priorities, identify strategic opportunities, and position Dementia UK as a credible and authoritative voice on dementia care within the Scottish policy landscape.
Working collaboratively with colleagues across policy, public affairs, campaigns, communications, clinical services and lived experience, you will develop and deliver a Scottish policy and public affairs strategy that aligns with our UK-wide approach. You will also represent Dementia UK externally as our primary political contact in Scotland, ensuring our perspectives are heard in key debates and decision‑making forums.

Are you passionate about using evidence and data for good? As a new role, you will have the exciting opportunity to support and transform how we use health related dementia data in the development and curation of our strategic evidence base. Clear and impactful data is key to understanding the scale and impact of dementia in the UK and this role will be pivotal to ensuring we’ve got what we need.
Your role will be critical to informing research, influencing and engagement activity through deep-dive analysis healthcare data, identification of potential data gaps and the most effective ways to fill them, and the production of jargon-free engaging interpretation and information for both internal and external use.
You will work alongside the Dementia Data and Intelligence Lead and a Dementia Data and Intelligence Officer, together providing expertise on evidence, data and insight in the context of dementia, ensuring that the Society’s decisions and interpretation of dementia and the system is based on the highest quality of dementia evidence. You’ll also work closely with other members of the Strategic Evidence team - our in-house experts for dementia data, economics, care and clinical research evidence, responsible for gathering and generating evidence on the scale and impact of dementia across the UK; contributing authoritative, impactful evidence to inform policy making and strategic decision-making.
You will be part of an even larger Evidence, Policy & Influencing (EP&I) function which is laser-focused on ending the devastation of dementia through changing policy. Teamwork and communication are key in this role – with colleagues internally and within the system externally to help make dementia the priority it needs to be.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Strategic Evidence team and shape how we use data and intelligence to inform what we know about dementia.
About you
You’re a data analyst with previous experience of analysing data to inform policy and/or strategic decision making who thrives on bringing clarity to complex questions using data. You understand the importance of clear communication when it comes to sharing data and intelligence with technical and non-technical audiences. You’re passionate about using data and evidence for good and you can understand the need for impactful data and evidence in the current health and social care landscape. You’re a trusted expert and critical friend, always considering the impact of your work on people affected by dementia.
You will have:
- A qualification in discipline relevant to data analysis or equivalent demonstrable work experience.
- Skills in using statistical analysis techniques to draw impactful conclusions from complex data sets (for example patient level health records).
- Skills in data visualisation with the ability to tailor the communication of your findings to different audiences, using tools such as Power BI or ArcGIS.
- Experience of using software packages or coding languages to efficiently process data and produce shareable outputs (at least one of: R Studio, SQL, Python).
- Experience of preparing briefings, reports and other creative assets to support the sharing and mobilisation of data insights with non-technical audiences.
- Experience of providing advice and guidance on how to use data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience of analysing and appraising data to inform policy and/or strategic decision making.
- Experience of using project and stakeholder management skills to deliver and monitor projects of work that require internal and external collaboration.
What you’ll focus on:
- Informing data advocacy, helping us demonstrate a case for change around the need for improvements in dementia data, by building a deep understanding of the quality and quantity of health-related dementia data.
- Supporting the development and implementation of a strategic approach that enables the use of dementia specific and other relevant data in our strategic evidence base.
- Combining datasets from various sources externally, generating actionable insights on the scale and impact of dementia that are understandable and impactful for different audiences and purposes.
- Creating engaging content for internal and external use, using appropriate data visualisations to present data in engaging and easily interpretable ways for non-data professionals.
- Supporting the development and management of a more robust single point of truth to ensure correct usage and communication of data and statistics internally and externally.

We are recruiting for a Strategic Evidence Manager to join on a full-time basis, working 35 hours per week on a permanent contract. This is a home-based role, with occasional travel required to attend team meetings.
As Strategic Evidence Manager, you will use evidence for good, contributing to driving major system and policy changes across England, Northern Ireland and Wales at an exciting time in dementia. You will work alongside another Strategic Evidence Manager and our Dementia Intelligence and Data Lead to provide expertise on evidence, data and insight in the context of dementia.
You will manage and support the development of two Strategic Evidence Officers, and you will ensure the Society’s choices and interpretation of dementia and the system is based on the highest quality of dementia evidence. Your role will allow us to have actionable insights and implications at our disposal. You will make our strategic evidence base everyone’s business and ultimately unignorable – to our people, and key players in the dementia system.
You will also be able to spot opportunities to generate and commission new evidence, working in collaboration with external suppliers, think tanks or academics. As Strategic Evidence Manager, you will be at the forefront of emerging evidence in dementia, ensuring specialist knowledge is kept up to date by being aware of developments and by attending training courses (where appropriate) and participating in other knowledge sharing events or networks.

About you
Joining us, you will have experience of using a wide range of research methods, including evidence synthesis, in addition to knowledge on current and emerging treatments for dementia. You’ll have experience of working in the science, health, care or policy sectors or equivalent knowledge. You’ll be able to manage projects successfully, using your skills to manage and deliver large and complex programmes of work with budgets and high exposure.
Crucially, you will have the skills required to manage, support and develop a team with a proven ability to inspire and motivate people to towards shared objectives and goals. You’ll also be able to work effectively in collaboration with others to find solutions to problems. This role will require you to represent Alzheimer’s Society at conferences, events and different types of media, therefore you’ll need to be able to use your communication and networking skills to raise the profile of strategic evidence as a critical function to the organisation.
What you’ll focus on:
- Operationalising a strategic evidence plan, ensuring that the Society’s decisions and interpretation of dementia and the system is based on the highest quality of dementia evidence.
- Managing and monitoring internal and external delivery of evidence projects that involve internal and external stakeholders.
- Developing a sound, rounded knowledge of research evidence and other data and insight and overseeing strategic approaches to evidence collation, management and horizon scanning.
- Providing functional expertise on research evidence, data and insight to your team, and others, across the Society.
- Managing the consolidation of research, data and insight through the preparation of evidence briefs and other content.
- Responsible for designing and implementing new and existing tools, processes and standards that create reciprocal mechanisms.

About the role
We are recruiting for a Supporter Selections & Automation Executive to join on a full-time basis, working 35 hours per week. This is a home-based role on a permanent contract.
As Supporter Selections & Automations Executive you will work alongside two Supporter Selections Analysts to deliver targeted automations for our supporter communications. You’ll work closely with our Supporter Selections Manager and Journeys Manager to plan, build and maintain supporter journeys that provide an excellent supporter experience to retain and grow our audiences.
You’ll play a crucial role in deepening stakeholders’ understanding of our supporters. You’ll draw on campaign results, data models and other sources of insight to enable colleagues to test hypotheses and innovate in order to drive satisfaction, loyalty, and sustainable growth across Alzheimer’s Society’s audiences.
In this role, you’ll be an active and valued member of the Omnichannel Team, supporting with the delivery of scheduled and ad hoc selections to enable delivery of the communications plan, whilst being part of the drive to put the supporter at the heart of everything we do.
Interviews for this role have been provisionally scheduled to take place via MS Teams on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th March.
About you
Joining us, you will have experience of using good task management and prioritisation skills to deliver projects or pieces of work within a set deadline. You’ll have an understanding of customer journeys and automation, with experience of planning and building customer stewardship journeys and automations using Apteco Faststats, Apteco PeopleStage or similar systems.
Crucially, you’ll be skilled in using Excel to manipulate, manage and analyse data, in addition to experience using large contact management databases and database selections. You’ll also be able to work in collaboration with others across the organisation, at all levels, to support decision-making for data selections.
What you’ll focus on:
- Leading on the delivery of automated communications through Apteco Faststats and PeopleStage, working closely with our agency partners and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborating with the Journeys Manager on planning and documenting supporter journeys to ensure visibility of the supporter experience.
- Working with the Campaign Reporting & Optimisation Manager on rolling reviews of existing journeys to continually improve the automation & experience.
- Supporting the Selections Team to deliver planned and ad hoc targeted data selections for direct mail, telephone, email, SMS, and social media channels using Apteco FastStats.
- Using insight, data and model scores to improve and enhance audiences and personalisation across selections and automations.

As Policy Officer you will play an important role in determining what the Society thinks about the big issues affecting people affected by dementia. Through robust scoping and policy development, you will help to identify the action needed to affect change and help ensure our influencing activity is evidence-driven, timely and relevant across the three nations in which we work – nationally and locally.
You will be an expert policy advisor to colleagues across the Society and support Policy Managers to deliver against agreed integrated plans, including helping to monitor progress and performance and working with others to gather evidence, insight and data to underpin our policy work. Key to the success of this role is engaging others in the policy development process, sharing analysis, opinion and insight to inspire high-quality, dynamic policymaking.

In this role, you'll provide hands-on procurement support to colleagues across the Society, helping them navigate contracts, suppliers and purchasing decisions. You'll implement our procurement strategies at an operational level, ensuring contracts are delivered with quality and on time. Working collaboratively with Finance, Legal, Risk and Audit colleagues, you'll develop and manage contracts, maintain supplier relationships, and collect the financial data that helps us understand procurement performance. Crucially, you'll engage widely to build understanding of procurement policies, making compliance accessible rather than burdensome, and fostering a culture where best practice becomes the natural way of working.
You may also have the chance to line manage a Procurement Assistant, developing their capabilities while role-modelling the high-challenge, high-support culture that drives our team's success.
About you:
You're an experienced procurement professional who understands that operational excellence comes from making procurement easy for colleagues to get right. You know how to balance rigorous processes with practical support, and you're skilled at engaging people at all levels to improve how procurement works. You're as comfortable analysing spend data as you are explaining contract requirements or building rapport with suppliers.
You'll have:
- Experience driving efficiencies and cost savings through supporting the design and implementation of procurement plans in large organisations.
- A track record of improving understanding of and engagement with procurement across diverse audiences to boost compliance and effectiveness.
- Experience of contract development, management and negotiation, with knowledge of the procurement landscape and relevant legislation.
- Good relationship-building skills with experience working across multiple business areas and with colleagues at different levels, particularly those in financial roles.
- Excellent communication and influencing abilities, able to engage effectively with internal colleagues and external suppliers alike.
- Some experience working with finance systems and processes, or in a financial environment, with an interest in the dementia landscape and its procurement implications.
What you’ll focus on:
- Implementing our procurement strategies operationally, ensuring quality contract delivery while building understanding and compliance across the Society.
- Forming strong relationships with colleagues at all levels to provide expert procurement support that makes purchasing decisions clearer and easier.
- Collecting and translating financial and procurement data into reports that demonstrate impact and spotlight opportunities for better value.
- Managing supplier relationships and developing contracts that protect the Society's interests while collaborating across departments for appropriate oversight.
- Building effective relationships with colleagues to improve value for money and/or drive efficiencies, particularly with colleagues in financial roles.
- Taking personal ownership of monitoring your work's progress and impact, while supporting the team's efforts to track overall procurement performance.
