Hours and salary:Full time – 35 hours per week (flexibility is essential for this role and the hours worked are governed by the pattern of the events programme). The salary for the post is £45400.
What You'll Do:
Lead the Enterprise team to provide an outstanding level of service to events clients, visitors, including the families programme, and deliver excellence in the Café Restaurant franchise and the Shop. You will work enthusiastically as part of the Cathedral’s team of staff and volunteers to help deliver our vision.
Some of the Key Responsibilities of the role:

Events
- To direct the events team in organising the extensive events programme, maximise the spare capacity of the Cathedral building and the adjacent grounds, thereby generating income as required by the Cathedral budget.
- To be responsible for the execution of events, delegating to the Events Team and/or other Staff members as appropriate.
- To be on duty as part of the team rota delivering events.
Café Restaurant
- To ensure that the franchise delivers the requisite performance, in terms of quality and financial benefit to the Cathedral, as required by the contract between Guildford Cathedral Enterprises and the franchisee.
Management
- To be the line manager for the Enterprise team members, including Events Officer, Events Assistant, Shop Manager & Shop Assistant, Visitor Engagement Officer, and the Families Engagement Officer.
- To be the Cathedral point of contact for management issues related to the employees of the Café Restaurant franchisee.
- To attend Diary Management and Head of Department Meetings.
- To ensure all marketing and relevant information reaches the marketing team in a timely manner.
Shop
- To direct the Shop team to provide value for money in the Shop, delivering an excellent level of service to the community and a level of income required by the Cathedral budget.
Visitor Engagement & Families Programme
- To direct the Visitor Engagement Officer and Family Engagement Officer to deliver the wide programme of tours, concerts, and Family engagement days, broadening our visitor numbers and demographic and managing the outreach activities actively and effectively.

The Role
The role of the Events team within Alpha International is to oversee the organising of Leadership Conference (LC) in-person, any events around Leadership Conference (including Donor events, Wednesday CEF event, Alpha Staff day, regional satellite events) and London-based Alpha events across the year (such as Alpha Collective and Experience Alpha).
This role is responsible for managing health and safety across the HTB sites, catering (crew, bloom café, Brompton road food vans and green rooms), internal deliveries and LC app, along with other LC related tasks.
The Key Responsibilities
Logistical arrangements:
o Development and execution of the events Day Plan. This is a minute-by-minute detailed plan that holds all the information of what will take place at the event
o Gathering technical and logistical requirements from speakers, stream leaders and internal departments; then negotiating this with the IT, Production, Vergers and Volunteers Teams or with an external venue or AV suppliers
o Determining catering requirements and caterer management
o Hiring of any additional venues as required and HTB site logistics
o Attending site visits (for external venues that might be used)
o Hiring of any additional equipment required for the event
o Liaising with the Production, IT, Verger, Worship team and all other internal departments
o Ensuring any legal and insurance tasks are thought about and in place for the event taking place
o Creating floor plans for the vergers to use
o Liaising on interpretation needs are met including BSL
o Liaising regarding speakers and associated tasks including contracts, gifts and accommodation
o Liaising and implementing programme decisions
o Developing and implementing new floor plans and layouts at events
o Ensuring event Health and Safety has been implemented

Marketing and communications:
o Working closely with the marketing team on the marketing plan and budget

Staffing:

Safeguarding

o Taking a lead role on several key packages assigned to this role
o Create and maintain comprehensive event documentation
o Writing papers on the different areas for senior management to review as and when is required
o Stay within the budget allocated and make adjustments to event constraints based on financial situation. Looking for ways to save money on all areas you look after
o Developing and implementing new and improved processes
o Holding the Alpha standard on communication in everything we do or send before, during or after the event
o Attend senior leadership meetings to provide updates as an when is required on your different areas
o Managing admin across the event, dealing with sign off, budgets and compiling post event reporting – to take learnings for next years event
o Looking at ways to improve LC year on year by researching competitor events and market knowledge

The Role:
The Marketing Assistant will play a key role supporting the Marketing & Communications team in implementing the integrated communications strategy and providing marketing support for the promotion of hospice services and income generation activity.
Your day-to-day tasks will be varied but typically will include assisting with delivering our social media calendar, creating engaging content for use across our communication channels, writing copy for press releases and arranging photo calls, assisting in print and publication production, and updating content on the website.
What you need:
The successful candidate will have experience working in a similar marketing role or have a qualification in marketing or communications and demonstrate a strong team ethic and creative flair. Make-A-Wish UK is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Mass Participation Events Officer to lead the delivery of our flagship fundraising events, including the London Marathon, and to help shape the future of our mass participation portfolio. Core Purpose:
The Senior Mass Participation Events Officer will play a pivotal role in the development and delivery of Make-A-Wish UK’s mass participation events portfolio, most notably the London Marathon, as well as other third-party and Make-A-Wish owned products (e.g. walks, runs, virtual events).
This position will lead on event delivery, support new product development, and coordinate marketing and supporter journey planning. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless delivery, exceptional supporter experiences, and continuous improvement across the programme. This role is key to driving income growth, supporter acquisition, and retention through strategic planning and operational excellence.
This role sits within the Public Fundraising team who are responsible for individual giving, legacies, community fundraising, third party Mass Participation events, and owned fundraising products and events. The Public Fundraising team plays a vital role in contributing to our organisational strategic goal of developing sustainable sources of income.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning
- Support the development and implementation of multi-year plans for mass participation events across a broad range of markets, activities and products.
- Lead on the delivery of a range of third-party challenge events, owned products and virtual events, including recruitment and onboarding of new supporters, stewardship of supporters, budget management, event planning and logistics, volunteer management, and evaluation and reporting on events, taking learnings forward to improve future events. This role will primarily manage the London Marathon, which is our biggest third-party fundraising event, bringing in around 50% of all third-party events income.
- Contribute to the innovation pipeline by identifying opportunities for new products and enhancements and supporting the development of minimum viable products.
- Evaluate performance and identify opportunities for growth.
- Ensure plans are data-driven and aligned with organisational strategy.
- Work proactively to identify a pipeline of future support and new fundraising opportunities, varying across corporate teams, groups and associations, individual supporters and third-party activities, converting prospects into confirmed supporters to maximise income growth.

Acquisition and retention of supporters
- Coordinate marketing plans for acquisition, working with the creative team and digital freelancer.
- Brief and manage asset creation for campaigns across digital and print.

- Build and optimise registration flows to ensure a seamless user experience.
- Develop and deliver automated, multi-channel supporter journeys to retain donors, maximise fundraising, and promote further engagement.
- Implement key milestones including welcome communications, fundraising support, and post-event stewardship.
- Align supporter journeys with the wish journey to deepen engagement.
- Implement key milestones of the supporter journey including welcome calls, race pack mailings, thank you mailings and fundraising chases.
- Maintain effective relationships with Make-A-Wish UK colleagues and supporters, maximising retention and long-term value, and identify cross-departmental opportunities where appropriate by working collaboratively.
- Effectively steward small and medium corporate teams, ensuring corporate partners participating in third-party Mass Participation events have an exceptional experience.
- Coordinate cross-functional input from brand, digital, supporter care and wishgranting teams to ensure integrated delivery of mass participation events.
Event Management and Delivery
- Lead planning and delivery of a portfolio of mass participation events, including logistics, budgeting, and on-the-day coordination.
- Act as operational lead for assigned events and products, making decisions on delivery approaches, resourcing, and supporter experience within agreed strategic parameters
- Provide informal mentoring and guidance to the Mass Participation Events Officer, supporting their development and ensuring consistency in delivery. Support the Officer with event logistics and delivery as needed.
- Maximise supporter engagement to meet income targets and KPIs at events.
- Develop project plans, marketing plans and supporter journeys for a portfolio of mass participation events.
- Attend Mass Participation events and represent Make-A-Wish in a professional manner. Be prepared to work some weekends and evenings where required.
- Lead on event day logistics including the management of staff and volunteers.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Monitor fundraising progress and approve partner invoices in alignment with the team’s budget and coding structure.
- Monitor event performance against agreed KPIs including recruitment targets, fundraising targets, and average fundraising per head.
- Make data-informed decisions to optimise event delivery and supporter journeys, escalating strategic or high-risk issues to the Manager.
- Present results and learnings in monthly meetings with the wider Public Fundraising team and contribute to strategic reviews.
