Role Purpose 

The Chief Executive Officer will provide strategic, operational and values-led leadership for Home-Start Norfolk, ensuring the charity delivers its mission, supports its families effectively and remains financially sustainable. Working closely with the Board of Trustees, the CEO will lead the organisation’s strategy, people, services, partnerships, governance, income generation and volunteer strategy, while acting as an ambassador for the charity and its work. 

Key Responsibilities 

Strategic Leadership 

• Lead the development and delivery of the charity’s strategic plan in partnership with the Board of Trustees. 

• Translate the charity’s vision, mission and values into clear priorities, measurable objectives and effective operational plans. 

• Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, collaboration and improved impact. 

• Ensure services and activities remain responsive to beneficiary needs and changing external circumstances. 

Governance, Compliance and Risk 

• Support the Board of Trustees to fulfil its governance responsibilities through clear reporting, sound advice and timely information. 

• Ensure the charity complies with charity law, company law where applicable, employment law, fundraising regulation, data protection requirements, safeguarding duties and all relevant regulatory obligations. 

• Maintain a robust approach to risk management, internal controls, policies and procedures. 

• Promote transparency, accountability and ethical decision-making across the organisation. 

Financial Leadership and Income Generation 

• Provide overall leadership for financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and long-term sustainability. 

• Work with trustees and senior colleagues to ensure resources are used effectively and in line with charitable objectives. 

• Lead the development of a diverse and resilient income strategy, including grants, trusts and foundations, individual giving, corporate partnerships, contracts and other appropriate income streams. 

• Maintain strong relationships with funders, commissioners, donors and supporters, ensuring excellent stewardship and reporting. 

Service Delivery, Quality and Impact 

• Ensure the charity delivers high-quality, safe and effective services that achieve positive outcomes for families. 

• Embed continuous improvement, evidence-based practice and meaningful beneficiary involvement. 

• Oversee monitoring, evaluation and impact reporting to demonstrate the value and effectiveness of the charity’s work. 

• Champion safeguarding, inclusion, accessibility and dignity in all areas of service delivery. 

• Comply with Home-Start UK’s Quality Audit Policies and Process, to ensure the charity maintains a high standard of quality assurance. 

People, Culture and Organisational Development 

• Lead, support and develop the senior leadership team and staff, creating a positive, inclusive and high-performing culture. 

• Ensure the charity has the right structures, systems, skills and capacity to deliver its strategy. 

• Promote wellbeing, learning, accountability and collaboration across the organisation. 

• Ensure effective HR, performance management and recruitment practices are in place. 

Volunteer Leadership 

• Provide strategic leadership for the development and delivery of the charity’s volunteer strategy, ensuring it supports organisational priorities and beneficiary needs. 

• Oversee effective volunteer recruitment, induction, training, supervision, support, retention and recognition. 

• Ensure volunteers are valued, well-supported, appropriately deployed and able to contribute safely and confidently to the charity’s work. 

• Develop a sustainable volunteer workforce plan, identifying current and future volunteer capacity, skills and support requirements. 

• Promote a positive volunteering culture that reflects the charity’s values and strengthens engagement, inclusion and community connection. 

External Relations, Partnerships and Advocacy 

• Act as the public face and senior ambassador for the charity, representing it with credibility and confidence. 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with beneficiaries, partners, funders, commissioners, local communities, statutory bodies and sector networks. 

• Raise the charity’s profile and influence through effective communications, thought leadership and advocacy. 

• Promote collaboration and partnership working to extend reach, improve outcomes and strengthen sustainability. 

Salary: Starting at £66,920, raising to £77,555

About the Role

Environmental destruction and human rights abuses are rarely separate crises - they are cause and effect. The Environmental Justice Foundation was founded on this understanding, and for two decades we have fought to protect the natural world and the people whose lives and freedoms depend on it.

We are seeking an exceptional Deputy CEO to help lead EJF into its next phase of growth and impact. This is an extremely rare opportunity to take on a crucial leadership role at a highly respected international NGO at a pivotal moment.

As Deputy CEO, you will play a central role in shaping EJF's strategic direction, team leadership and operational excellence, working in close partnership with the CEO and senior team to scale our impact, strengthen our global presence, generate new income, and ensure the organisation continues to deliver courageous, evidence-led change.

From strengthening governance and organisational performance to driving innovation, growth, and collaboration, you will be instrumental in maintaining an agile, resilient, impact-driven organisation capable of confronting some of the world's most urgent environmental challenges.

This role calls for an experienced and confident manager and leader with strategic vision, operational rigour, communications acumen and a deep commitment to biodiversity conservation and environmental justice. You will bring people together across cultures and disciplines, empower emerging leaders, and foster a high-performance, inclusive organisational culture. Externally, you will help represent EJF with credibility and influence, building alliances with funders, policymakers, partners, and frontline communities to accelerate systemic change.

Key Responsibilities

1. Mission and Purpose

● Alongside the CEO and Founding Director, continuously reaffirm and embed EJF's Mission, Vision and Values, ensuring they are deeply embedded across all programmes and teams to foster cohesion and strategic alignment globally.

● Safeguard our core mission of environmental justice and strengthening grassroots capacity in the Global South, ensuring that the organisation, across its multiple geographies and jurisdictions, adheres to this core purpose and scope.

● Articulate and deliver the highest possible professional standards, working culture and practice across all aspects of EJF's work.

2. Campaign Delivery, Amplification and Impact

● In close partnership with the CEO, guide and oversee the organisation's strategic and tactical approach across its operations and campaigns.

● Provide additional guidance, recommendations and scrutiny on the planning, production and release of reports, films and other campaign materials.

● Help shape EJF's external positioning, ensuring coherence between evidence, advocacy, partnerships and communications.

● Strengthen EJF's visibility and reach by engaging the media, attending and presenting at high-level meetings, liaising with key contacts and major funders, and acting as a spokesperson in the CEO's absence.

3. People, Culture and Leadership

● Help to further develop and support a high-performing Senior Management Team (SMT), individually and collectively, fostering accountability, collaboration and strong leadership practice.

● Guide and mentor teams to ensure they remain focused on delivering EJF's mission and priority objectives with strategic impact.

● Ensure fairness and equity for staff across the organisation, alongside consistently high standards of management.

● As directed by the CEO, serve in his absence to ensure the campaigns and programmes continue uninterrupted, working closely with the Senior Management Team (SMT).

4. Operations and Funding

● Work with the Operations Team to ensure EJF's exemplary operational efficiency across all areas of its work, championing continuous improvement of systems, processes and tools to strengthen efficiency, resilience and internal knowledge sharing.

● Work with the CEO, Founding Director, COO, and other team members to secure funding to support all our operations. This will require direct liaison with key donors, identifying new funding streams and ensuring compelling proposals, grant reports and updates are delivered on time.

● Ensure our operations across geographies and jurisdictions adopt a unified approach in all aspects of our work while respecting local contexts and needs.

5. Risk and Security

● Ensure that robust security and safeguarding measures are in place, regularly reviewed and actively embedded across teams.

● Contribute to organisational risk management, providing an additional oversight role for legal, reputational, political and operational risks across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring guidance and support are in place to secure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and ethical standards in all operating contexts.

Essential Experience, Skills and Attributes

We are seeking a values-driven, strategic leader with the judgement and organisational capability to help guide EJF through its next phase of growth and impact.

You will bring:

● Significant senior leadership experience (typically 10+ years), ideally 6+ years within the charity or not-for-profit sector.

● Proven success in programme design and delivery and organisational management, including oversight of complex budgets and resources.

● Strong financial acumen, with the ability to improve cost-effectiveness and maximise impact.

● Outstanding communication skills, including exceptional written English and the ability to engage diverse audiences, from teams to funders and senior decision-makers.

● Sound judgement and strategic thinking, with the ability to navigate complexity and make high-quality, values-led decisions, including in fast-moving or high-stakes environments.

● Strong people leadership, with experience building inclusive, high-performing teams, supporting senior colleagues, and developing emerging leaders across cultures and geographies.

● Experience contributing to organisational strategy, change, and governance, with confidence engaging boards and leading through growth or transition.

● A collaborative, diplomatic approach, combined with resilience, adaptability, and composure under pressure.

● Experience working in international or distributed organisations, and building effective external partnerships, including with donors, business partners and grassroots groups.

● An ability to travel internationally, occasionally at short notice.

● A clear commitment to EJF's Vision, Mission and Values, and to fostering a culture of excellence, equity, safeguarding, and impact.

While not essential, the following would be a strong advantage:

● Additional languages, particularly French, Spanish, Portuguese, or German.

● Professional media or communications experience, with demonstrable skills in shaping narratives, engaging audiences, and supporting organisational visibility.

● Experience in field research and/or investigations, ideally in complex or international contexts.

● Proven ability to manage projects, people, and budgets remotely, including supporting geographically dispersed teams.

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

Key details

Hours: Part-time: 14 hours over 2 days - the postholder will need to work on Fridays and either Tuesday or Thursday.  Fridays are in person at Anna Freud, London, during termtime.  Usual working hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00. Flexible working is possible.

Salary: £64,100 FTE per annum, plus 6% contributory pension scheme

Location: Hybrid (a mixture of home/onsite working): staff are working onsite for at least 20% of their working hours at Anna Freud, 4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH.  The postholder will also need to attend in person for any in-person teaching, team meetings as necessary.

In this new Director of Marketing role, you will lead us to invest significant resources with courage and conviction – spending money on top-of-funnel marketing today to make fundraising easier tomorrow. You will bring a campaign mindset, emotional excellence, and exquisite storytelling to move audiences to act. Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to serve as Coordinator, leading the mission of Street Pastors in Kingston. The ideal candidate for this role will be a person of integrity who is able to demonstrate experience and potential in leadership of Christian outreach and mission. They should have experience leading and managing volunteers in a relevant context. They should possess effective organisational and communication skills and demonstrate a passion for building and sustaining partnerships around community outreach.

Context

Kingston Street Pastors is a churches initiative which has been operating since 2006 deploying Christian volunteers in the town centre in the night time to Care, Listen and Help. We enjoy excellent relationships with key stakeholders in Kingston’s night time economy including our local council, police and businesses. Within the wider Street Pastors movement we have made significant contributions over the years to develop policy and practice and have worked closely with neighbouring Street Pastors initiatives and with the Ascension Trust. For governance purposes Kingston Street Pastors operates as an affiliated project of Oxygen, a Kingston based youth work charity.

Our key strategic priorities are to maintain and build on the positive relationships we have with our local council, the police and businesses in the night time economy, taking advantage of opportunities for collaboration, accessing funding and other forms of support. We are perennially focused on the recruitment of new volunteers to serve as Street Pastors and Prayer Pastors to sustain and grow our capacity to deploy teams to the streets.

About the Role

This role has a Genuine Occupational Requirement for the post holder to be a practicing Christian (as outlined by 2010 Equality Act, Section 9)

Our new Coordinator will work closely with the Street Pastors Deputy Coordinator, leading the regular operations of Kingston Street Pastors and the deployment of teams while also overseeing the strategic development of the initiative in response to emerging needs and opportunities. 

Applicants should have people skills and demonstrate an ability to solve problems using a range of creative solutions including working with volunteers or using technology in new ways. The ideal candidate will have an ability to work flexibly and manage their time and resource effectively amidst competing priorities. 

A strong applicant will also be able to demonstrate the following: 

• A good understanding of the work and ethos of Street Pastors and how this resonates with your approach to Christian mission.

• A passion for the role the Church plays in our local community and an ecumenical ethos which is appreciative of a diversity of Christian traditions.

• The ability to partner with key stakeholders in the community to increase the resources, reach and depth of charitable projects. 

• A high level of proficiency in project management with competent administrative and IT skills.

• A good understanding of the night time economy, its users and key stakeholders.

• Experience and skills in charity/ church project leadership with specific reference to the recruitment, development and management of volunteers.

• An understanding of monitoring and reporting on the impact of charitable work.

Relevant experience in fields such as youth work, homelessness support, drug and alcohol services and promotion of community safety are also highly desirable.
