Our partner, a leading international not for profit, seeks an experienced Finance Manager to lead on the financial management of a complex multi-country & multi-grant project. This role will really be suited to someone interested in developing and strengthening systems and processes & providing financial oversight, whilst working with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial management oversight on the project, verifying project-specific transactions and ensuring that financial data is up-to-date; and ensuring adherence to the organisation’s financial policies.
• Lead the project’s annual budgeting and forecasting process, allocating funds across country and global teams & operations.
• Prepare and deliver timely and accurate financial reports for the organisation’s project, including monthly, quarterly, and donor-specific reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop and implement financial controls and processes to ensure compliance to donors and organisational policies, including tools such as templates, checklists, and manuals.
• Review budgets, quarterly reports and variance analyses, reforecasts, cash requests and agreements from sub-grantees; and ensure that they understand guidance on compliance and financial reporting.
• Treasury management – monitoring and analysis foreign exchange fluctuations, and their impact on project delivery.
• Responsible for supplier management, including reviewing contracts.
• Management of a Finance Officer

Requirements

• Qualified accountant (and holding an active membership with an accountancy body) with experience in designing, developing and strengthening processes and controls for complex multi-country, multi-grants projects.
• Experience in the financial management and administration of grants, including budgeting, forecasting, undertaking analysis & monitoring, and reporting.
• Experience of donor compliance and reporting, including of institutional donors with complex compliance and reporting requirements.
• Experience of working specifically in the context of sub-grantees and implementing partners on the ground.
• Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills, able to analyse complex financial information to provide the full picture on the project implementation, and to be able to present this alongside other analyses and reports to senior internal and external stakeholders clearly and succinctly.
• A strong command of the English language.
• Able to work effectively under pressure

Bank Support Workers have the ability to accept any shifts available on an ad-hoc basis across from all of Look Ahead's specialisms including Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, Homelessness and Young People. Bank Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of the customers of the service. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices. Within Learning Disability services, this will include providing physical, domestic, emotional and social care. Within Mental Health and Homelessness services they will enable vulnerable people living in a variety of different tenures to manage their tenancies/ licences and move towards greater independence within the community by providing a flexible and individually tailored support package. While carrying out activities, Bank Support Workers should deal with all customers, visitors and staff in a professional and appropriate manner and report to Look Ahead staff and management any observations relating to customers' welfare.

Working proactively with other members of the team to handle the service caseload and administrative responsibilities

The Service Manager will be responsible for the operations of one service in Berkshire (Slough) which supports one individual to live in his own home.

The individual is a sociable and engaging man with a warm sense of humour and a deep appreciation for nature, music, and familiar company. He lives with a diagnosis of moderate learning disability, autism spectrum disorder, psychotic illness, epilepsy, and type 2 diabetes, all of which require thoughtful and consistent support. The customer has been living successfully in his current placement for over ten years, where he benefits from the continuity of staff who know him well, understand his routines, and help him maintain a sense of safety and autonomy.

The role will provide line management for a team of seven Specialist Behaviour Support Workers, ensuring that compliance with organisational, legal regulations and those of the local authority are adhered to and the quality of support is of the highest standard possible, ensuring excellent quality of life for the customer and a good working environment for colleagues.

The service has received a CQC rating of Good. The current team size includes 5 FTEs (Specialist Behaviour Support Workers) plus 2 FTEs Waking Night Support Workers, ensuring comprehensive support coverage across all shifts.

The working pattern for this role is primarily Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, with occasional requirements for weekend and out-of-hours work to meet service needs.

The anticipated start date for this role is October.

The initial contract duration is 6 months, with potential to become a permanent role after this period.

You will manage a small team of freelance advisers, maintain oversight of our helpline provision, and ensure that the support carers receive is accurate, timely, and empathetic. You will also lead online information and peer-support sessions for carers, contribute to the development of helpful resources, and use data and feedback to inform service improvements. The role includes a safeguarding element, supporting the identification and appropriate response to any concerns. Experience in advice services would be an advantage, but we welcome applicants with transferable skills and a strong commitment to making a difference for carers.
 

About you

We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive, and confident in communicating clearly and empathetically. You will have excellent planning skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of service. You may have experience coordinating people or services and ideally some familiarity with advice provision, helpline delivery, or the wider social care or welfare landscape - although this is not essential. You are comfortable working with data to support service improvement, understand the importance of safeguarding and confidentiality, and are motivated by making a positive impact on the lives of unpaid carers.

Job Description

• Job Title: Charityworks Trainee

• Employer: One of our Charityworks partner organisations.  These organisations are subject to change each year but often include a range of non-profit partners from NSPCC, Guide Dogs, Barnardo’s, Christian Aid, Network Homes, Accent Housing and many more. 

• Location: Placements will take place in leading non-profit organisations across a number of locations across the UK. There will be a range of working patterns available including partly remote or blended working possibilities.

• Hours: Usually 9am - 5pm with some flexibility according to the requirements of the placement and your host organisation. 

• Contract: Fixed term, 12 months.

• Salary: The salary will meet the Living Wage as set by the Living Wage Foundation at the time of writing. This is outlined above.

PSPA is the only national charity offering support and information to people living with the rare, incurable, degenerative brain diseases called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD). Our purpose is to create a better future for everyone affected by PSP and CBD.  We provide much needed support to people and their families living with these devastating neurological conditions. We also invest in research to deepen our understanding of the conditions with the goal of reducing the time to accurate diagnosis and discovering treatments and an eventual cure. Since 2024 we have increased our investment in awareness raising of these relatively unknown diseases.

Since the charity was formed 31 years ago, we have made significant progress in raising awareness and supporting people living with these devastating neurological conditions.  Research estimates there are 10,000 people living with PSP and CBD in the UK.  PSPA currently supports around 2,100 people living with PSP, 415 people with CBD and a furter 3,000 people who are supporting someone with these conditions.  Alongside this we provide education and advice to over 2,000 Health and Social Care Professionals.

Helpline & Support Services Manager

Reports to: Director of Service Improvement and Development

Responsible for: 6 Helpline Care Navigators (HCNs)
Location: Hybrid – minimum one day per week in Milton Keynes office, remainder from home

As our Helpline and Support Services Manager, you’ll lead a small, passionate team dedicated to providing high-quality support to individuals and families at critical moments in their lives.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead and Inspire: Manage and support a team of 6 Helpline Care Navigators (including posts based in Scotland and Wales), and a team of volunteers providing out-of-hours support.
• Deliver Impact: Ensure people affected by PSP & CBD receive timely, empathetic, and accurate support and information.
• Enhance Support Services: Design and deliver tailored support groups, including groups for carers and people who are newly diagnosed.
• Champion Service Quality: Monitor performance, gather data, and use insights to shape and improve service delivery.
• Promote Inclusion & Safety: Ensure all services are accessible and comply with safeguarding and equality standards.
• Lead in Safeguarding: Act as Deputy Safeguarding Lead, maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all service users.
• Collaborate & Influence: Work with internal teams to ensure service user voices influence policy, communications, and PSPA publications.

Key Responsibilities

• Line manage, develop, and support the helpline team and volunteers.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sustrans as part of our Active Journeys South and East team covering projects across London and South East, where you will help shape healthier, happier communities through walking, wheeling, and cycling. 

As Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the design, delivery, and oversight of behaviour change and engagement projects, as well as leading and supporting the delivery team. You’ll be at the heart of creating positive change, ensuring projects are cost-efficient, timely, and impactful. 

You will be involved with exciting projects such as Wheels4Me London and Moveability (East Sussex) funded by the Motability Foundation. Exploring how cities can improve accessibility by involving disabled people in decision-making, with the goal of creating more inclusive and equitable transportation systems. 

This role will require travel and work at various locations across London and the Southeast area as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans. 

About you

You will bring a solid understanding of active travel and the barriers faced by communities experiencing inequalities, alongside knowledge or practical experience in behaviour change concepts and approaches. 

You will have demonstrable experience in: 

• Managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, particularly those with a strong emphasis on community engagement.
• Facilitating workshops and delivering presentations to diverse audiences, both in person and online.
• Communicating effectively across a range of formats and with varied audiences. 

You are a skilled problem solver with excellent organisational abilities, capable of managing and prioritising work across multiple projects to meet deadlines and targets.
