Benefits

London Borough of Newham and surrounding boroughs

The Children's Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 140 years. We run local services that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We're there for children, every step of the way.

We're looking to recruit a Youth Voice & Participation Worker with a range of youth work, therapeutic, and trauma informed skills to coordinate and deliver participation and group work sessions to young people both at the new wellbeing hub, and through additional delivery sites in the community.

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

In order to be successful in this role, you must have:

-Experience of facilitating participation activities with young people - on a one to one basis and in group work setting

-Experience of supporting young people who are dealing with complex and sensitive needs and vulnerabilities and supporting them with advice, guidance and advocacy

-Excellent understanding of the emotional health and wellbeing needs of children and young people in the local community, informed by current research and evidence bases.

-To work flexibly across the physical hub and pop-up delivery sites with regular evening and weekend work to meet young people's needs.

INFO ABOUT THE CHILDREN'S SOCIETY

The Children's Society runs over 100 local services that help thousands of young people who desperately need our support, and we campaign to get laws and policies changed to make children's lives happier and safer.

Every day we're changing the lives of children in this country for the better - and with your help, tomorrow we can be there for even more.

The Children's Society is committed to safeguarding and protecting the children and young people that we work with. As such, all posts are subject to a safer recruitment process, including the disclosure of criminal records and vetting checks. We ensure that we have a range of policies and procedures in place which promote safeguarding and safer working practices across our services.

Therefore, candidates applying for work in our Youth Impact Domain will be required to complete an “Employment history_template” document prior to interview. The fully completed document should be loaded by the candidate at the point of uploading your CV.

The closing date for applications is on Sunday 12th May 2024. If after 14 days, we have received enough applications we reserve the right to close this vacancy from the 29th April 2024.

Interviews will be held in May 2024 - Please note, there is two part interview, one with staff members and a 2nd with our Young Designers Group - Further information will be provided closer to the time

If you would like an informal chat about the role, please contact Amina Gahakwa (Service Manager) on [email protected]
