We are looking to appoint our first Chief Financial Officer to help drive change across the institution, to lead its financial strategy and enhance its financial stability enabling us to realise our ambitions to be the world’s leading design museum.

It’s an exciting time join the Design Museum’s senior leadership team. We have recently set out our vision and five-year strategy that focuses on how we can realise the transformative potential of design. Over the past two years we have substantially increased programming throughout our landmark building which is buzzing with energy and purpose. We have established Future Observatory as the national centre for design research for the green transition and been accorded IRO status in record time, the first independent museum to be recognised in this way.

As part of the dynamic senior leadership team, the CFO will work closely with the board and CEO/Director to drive change across the organization. This role will be responsible for leading financial strategy, leading strategic thinking about future income generation, and enhancing the organisation’s financial and operational stability to enable the museum to realise its ambitions. Leading the Finance and People teams this role has the key levers to shape the future of the museum. 

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant and be able to demonstrate:

• Proven experience in a leadership role;
• Experience at Board level and ability to work in collaboration with Trustees and colleagues;
• Understanding and experience of strategic risk management, finance audit and internal controls

The Welfare Adviser will provide high quality specialist welfare benefits and housing advice, information and guidance to our service users, referring them internally and externally for additional advocacy and support as required, following organisational policies and procedures, and ensuring fulfilment of regulatory compliance with our Advice Quality Standard (AQS) accreditation, meeting the standards of quality in the delivery of advice services as required. The Global Philanthropy Team works to secure support for the delivery of vital projects to save lives and protect livelihoods in conflict affected countries around the world, as well as build organisational resilience and support innovative areas of work.  HALO’s philanthropic income has grown significantly in recent years, driven by introductions from our network of trustees, ambassadors and advocates and our focus on strategic and transformational partnerships. About the role:

The HALO Trust has more than doubled in size over the last eight years by growing support from both Governments and philanthropic donors.  Global income from philanthropic donors (including the US) has significantly increased over the past five years – from circa £4 million to £15 million in 2022/23 and reaching a further peak of £44 million in 2023/24 in response to exceptional donor support for Ukraine. Unpinning this is growth in six and seven figure partnerships with major donors, corporates and foundations, initiated by our exceptionally well-connected network of trustees and ambassadors - and nurtured by our committed and professional global philanthropy team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead growth within a portfolio of high value (six and potentially seven figure) relationships by providing excellence in supporter stewardship and through the development and delivery of relationship strategies, in collaboration with the Director of Philanthropy and Head of Global Grant Partnerships

Essential Requirements:

• Three years' experience of personally leading successful relationships with high value philanthropic donors (Trust and Foundations, corporates or high net worth individuals or equivalent), including those giving at the six or seven figure level
• Experience of building effective relationships with advocates linked to philanthropic donors
• An excellent communicator with the ability to build relationships with staff and colleagues in different cultural environments
• Outstanding written skills with the ability to work with programme and finance colleagues to design robust project proposals, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation
• Confident in working with financial information including project budgets
• Excellent written and verbal skills with strong attention to detail
• Outstanding interpersonal skills including ability to demonstrate tact, sophistication and gravitas 
• Experience of working with a fundraising database to maximise relationship development

BACKGROUND

The Helen Bamber Foundation (HBF) is a pioneering Human Rights charity supporting refugees and asylum seekers who are the survivors of trafficking and torture, including gender-based and ‘honour-based’ violence. Recognising the complexity of each client’s suffering and needs, the Foundation provides specialist medical consultation, therapeutic care, legal protection and practical support to survivors of human rights violations by helping men, women and children heal the emotional and physical damage they have suffered through torture, trafficking or other forms of cruelty.  We take the learning from our work to develop partnerships to increase survivors’ access to services, and use the learning generated by our clients and partners to drive system change.

Since August 2020, Asylum Aid has been part of the Helen Bamber Foundation Group. Asylum Aid operates as an independent charity, led by its own Executive Director within the group structure, and is ambitious about growing its impact and reach in the future to ensure protection from persecution for those who need it.  For over thirty years, Asylum Aid has been providing legal representation to some of the most vulnerable people seeking asylum. It has built an expert service, delivering vital and life-saving services in some of the most complex legal cases, with a particular speciality working with unaccompanied children, survivors of trafficking, torture or other forms of human cruelty, and stateless people. As Communications Manager you’ll be creating content that targets our specific donor group, supports the stewardship of those donors and implements digital marketing plans designed to optimise lead generation and conversion.

Salary - £33,000-36,000 FTE pro rata

Hours - Between 21 hours (0.6 FTE) and 28 hours (0.8 FTE)

Location – Fully remote working, with monthly in-person meetings in London.

Raise Your Hands supports 16 exceptional small charities that improve the lives of children and young people across the UK. 

We fundraise on behalf of the small charities on our platform, targeting donors that would normally be out of their reach. We do this by innovating in the fundraising space with a particular focus on corporate partnerships and pioneering events.

We work a lot with the finance sector, and we aim to produce communications that cut through and offer a fresh voice in this space.

Requirements

This role would suit someone with a strong history of using the power of words to inspire positive action, an eye for solid design and experience of digital marketing to business audiences (either as part of a B2B or charity corporate fundraising programme). 

The successful candidate will enjoy versatility and the creativity that comes from working in a small team with big ambitions.

Key Responsibilities

• Content Creation: Develop engaging content for LinkedIn, original articles, guides, website, email newsletters, social posts, and impact reports
• Marketing and Fundraising Collateral: Production of collateral for Dot Impact, Midnight Madness and other new events, including pitch decks and brochures.
• Testing Fundraising Ideas: Produce marketing materials for new fundraising initiatives and pilots.
• Marketing Activity: Implementation of existing marketing plan which includes organising talks, events, and webinars to engage new audiences and seeking opportunities for third-party posts, articles, and podcast appearances.
• Donor Pipeline and Stewardship: Work with the Development & Partnerships Manager to produce content for lead generation and donor stewardship.
• Digital Marketing: Run paid acquisition campaigns, optimise user journeys, and use Google Analytics to track effectiveness.

Person Specification 

The post holder should have a very good command of Portuguese and English, spoken and written, be committed to making a positive difference to people’s lives, have relevant experience in working with families and individuals with a range of needs, and knowledge of domestic abuse and the needs of those who experience it.

●Educated to degree level or equivalent (A qualification in a relevant field such as Community Development, Social work, Domestic Abuse Advisor’ Law or Psychology is desirable).

About Us

The Pepper Pot Centre is a vital, Caribbean & other  BME  community resource for the over 60s in Kensington & Chelsea and neighbouring Boroughs,  seeking to combat discrimination, isolation, depression and loneliness and help our members to take charge of their lives and  live in a healthy and independent manner.

Having formally opened our doors in 1981, we are a meeting place for older and retired members of the community and a day centre that provides a balanced Caribbean meal, recreational and cultural activities and lots more. In 1976 & 2006 was visited by the late Queen and by the Duchess of Cornwall in2020.

We are now seeking a part-time Events Coordinator to join our team for a one-year, fixed term contract, working 21 hours per week.

About the role

This is a phenomenal opportunity for a proactive and community-focused individual with a strong grasp of the needs of older people from Caribbean backgrounds and other BME communities to take an exciting step in their career with our organisation.

We are looking for a highly organised and creative  Events Coordinator to join our  growing team to plan, deliver and evaluate the effectiveness of events  targeted specifically at our 60+ community e.g. trips/visits to parks, museums, Theatre, Seaside and more.

Our new Events Coordinator  will support the planning and delivery of a key part of our work, namely: the management of our events programme designed to combat and prevent isolation, loneliness and depression amongst our elders. They will work closely with our sponsor,  Global Radio – LBC, Capital Xtra, Heart, Smooth, Classic FM, talkSPORT and more.

Specifically, you will:

• Develop an Events programme, trips, visits, excursions designed to combat discrimination, isolation, depression and loneliness.
• Publicise our programme of events, and activities via digital media, leaflet distribution, open days, and word of mouth etc.
• Support and encourage our members to attend the Events programme of activities.
• Recruit train and organise team of volunteers to support and expand the Events programme. 
• Plan, organise administer and accompany members on trips, visits and excursions within and outside the UK and you may be required to work outside normal office hours.
• Produce written reports for the management committee and our sponsor Global Radio.
• Evaluate the success of events through feedback mechanisms, attendance records, and make recommendations
• Adhere to PPC’s internal administrative protocols and procedures, including the Finance Procedures, Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Data Protection policies.
• With the Director, regularly review and update risk assessments for events.

About you

Essential:

• Understanding the essential needs of older people from Caribbean  backgrounds and other BME communities
• Previous experience of successfully coordinating events
• Experience of both planned and reactive approaches to event planning/work Proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
• Good organisational skills with a methodical approach to working on several tasks simultaneously and working to deadlines.
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively  diverse populations and build rapport with clients
• Good written and research skills with the ability to draft letters, invites, reports skills
• Be familiar with Microsoft Office, Excel etc.
