The newly created Advice & Support Team plays a critical role in delivering Battersea’s strategic focus on early intervention in the pet ownership journey. By offering well-timed expert and empathetic support and advice before owners reach crisis point, the team aims to prevent avoidable animal welfare issues and reduce the number of pets relinquished for preventable reasons.
This role will be pivotal in bringing Battersea’s ambitious Advice & Support strategy to life. It will involve leading and developing innovative, partner-oriented projects that provide practical solutions - from helping prospective owners make informed acquisition decisions to supporting struggling cat and dog owners when they need it most.
Success will require working cross-functionally within Battersea while also building and managing strong, ongoing relationships with external partners at a senior level both inside and outside the animal welfare sector. Current initiatives, such as our partnership with FareShare and pet food manufacturers to deliver pet food to owners in need, illustrate the type of collaborative, preventative work this role will initiate, manage or expand.

Purpose
This is an exciting new role supporting the delivery of the events and partnerships programme within a leading mental health charity.
We are looking for someone with a love for events and a passion for supporting people, who is excited by the prospect of raising funds that make a difference for young people’s mental health. As an Events and Partnerships Officer, your role is to support the planning, delivery and promotion of an exciting calendar of fundraising events, and support our corporate and community partners in their fundraising efforts.
Key responsibilities and duties:
Supporting our events programme
- Supporting the overall delivery of our events programme, working closely with the Senior Events and Partnerships Manager, Head of Fundraising and voluntary fundraising committees.
- Take a lead role on the planning, delivery and evaluation of a number of events within the calendar - which may include budgeting, liaising with third-party event organisers, logistics, risk assessment, promotion, participant engagement and post-event analysis.
- Monitor online fundraising and maintain event income and supporter records in the database, working closely with the Fundraising Assistant and finance team on processing income and invoices.
- Act as a point of contact for our various voluntary fundraising committees, supporting them with their activities, and providing event guidance and administrative support to enable them to deliver successful events and reach income targets.
- Working closely with our communications team, co-ordinate the marketing and promotion of our events programme. This will include: writing copy, building emails, supporting social activity, multi-channel promotion planning and supporter engagement campaigns.
- Collaborate on the design and production of event materials, including the development of event-specific fundraising packs and downloadable resources.
- Represent the Charlie Waller Trust at events as required which will include ad-hoc evenings and weekends for which time off in lieu will be given.
Supporting our partnerships
- Co-ordinate partnerships with community and corporate supporters, building long-term relationships and ensuring that partners feel valued and partnership objectives are met.
- Steward relationships with key people within our community and corporate partners, engaging them with the cause.
- Send fundraising materials (including t-shirts, information packs, etc.) to individual supporters, corporate partners and community groups raising money for us.
General responsibilities and duties
- Ensure that systems and processes are used as expected, and that our database is being updated and utilised as the central source of information.
- Provide regular updates on progress against agreed objectives and contribute to wider departmental fundraising reports as required.Ensure compliance to data protection, safeguarding, confidentiality and relevant organisational policies and procedures.
- Other duties as may be reasonably prescribed by the trust, appropriate to the grade and responsibilities of the post.
- Liaise with a wide variety of people and organisations including supporters of the charity, trainers and funders.
- Routine call handling as part of the wider office administrative team.

This is great news, as the period without a lift had a significant impact on our community of tenants, wider users and on our income from venue hire (with far fewer events able to take place during this time). This came on the tail of the Covid pandemic, which transformed how and when people use workspaces and events spaces.
We are now at a pivotal time to rebuild both our events program and our offer as a beautiful, ethical and central venue to hire, as well as exploring how to diversify our services. You will be an instrumental part in the development and growth of our activities and in overcoming these recent challenges.
This role is a fantastic opportunity to join a small dedicated team to help us deliver our vision. Alongside the Building Manager, your role will cover day to day operations, reception, events and marketing. You will be central to supporting events and our hirers, promoting our social change vision, and making Bridge 5 Mill a thriving community hub. As Community and Corporate Events Manager, you’ll take ownership of our events calendar, designing and delivering a range of engaging, purposeful, and high-impact events that support our mission and generate essential income.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and manage fundraising events, such as sponsored sleep-outs, our flagship annual ball and community events
- Develop new event ideas that inspire community engagement and increase income
- Oversee all logistics budgets, suppliers, venues, health & safety, volunteers
- Work closely with our frontline team to ensure lived experience and service member stories are at the heart of our events
- Lead on social media and marketing for the Charity
- Promote events through our digital channels, press, and local networks
- Build relationships with local businesses, sponsors, schools, churches, and individuals to grow participation and support
- Analyse and report on event performance, learning and adapting to grow our reach
- Stakeholder relationship building – local councillors, dignitaries, politicians and key influencers
Who We're Looking For
- Proven experience managing events, ideally in a fundraising, nonprofit, or community context
- Creative, strategic, and organised, you know how to juggle multiple projects and stay on top of details
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Passionate about tackling homelessness, social inequality, and supporting people in crisis
- Willing to work occasional evenings/weekends as needed for events
- Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle insured for business use.
- Ability to travel across Calderdale and occasionally further afield for events, meetings, and partnership activities.
