Title: Membership & Development Manager 

Contract: 35 hours, 5 days per week 

Salary: £45,000 

Flexibility: Will require some evening and weekend work for which time off in lieu will be given, willing to consider part-time and flexible working. 

Location: Based in the Ladbroke Grove area, with a minimum 60% of working hours in the local community 

Reporting to: Co-CEO 

The Membership & Development Manager will lead the delivery and development of Young K&C’s support for our member organisations: local voluntary and community organisations working with children and young people across Kensington and Chelsea. 

Working closely with Young K&C’s Co-CEOs, you will help members strengthen their organisations, develop their practice and deliver high-quality services for children and young people. This includes providing organisational development support, delivering training and capacity building, managing projects and building partnerships that help our members access the resources, knowledge and connections they need to thrive. 

Our approach is community-centred and relationship-led. We expect you to take the time to understand our members, their services and the communities they work with, building trusted relationships with everyone from senior leaders and trustees to frontline staff and volunteers. You will listen to their experiences, recognise their strengths and tailor support to their needs, using what you learn to shape and improve Young K&C’s offer. 

This is a varied role combining relationship building, organisational development, project delivery and people management. We are looking for someone who brings practical expertise, curiosity and a collaborative approach, and who is passionate about strengthening the local voluntary sector to improve outcomes for children and young people. 

What you’ll be doing: 

Working closely with Young K&C’s Co-CEOs and wider team to: 

• Develop and deliver our membership service for local voluntary and community organisations, including visits, meetings and relationship management. 

• Provide organisational development support and best-practice guidance to members and partners, including casework. 

• Develop and deliver training and capacity building opportunities that respond to members’ needs. 

• Build relationships with members to understand their services, gather insight and identify opportunities to strengthen Young K&C’s support offer. 

• Connect members, facilitate shared learning and encourage collaboration across the local voluntary and community sector. 

• Monitor the quality and impact of our support, using feedback and evidence to inform improvements. 

• Manage a small number of direct reports, supporting their development and performance. 

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date membership records and data. 

• Develop partnerships with local organisations and stakeholders, represent Young K&C at meetings and coordinate work with other infrastructure support organisations. 

• Contribute to the delivery of Young K&C’s strategy and work flexibly across our services and priorities. 

What we’re looking for 

Essential 

• Experience managing or supporting organisations within the voluntary and community sector, ideally in children’s or youth services. 

• Strong understanding of organisational development, including governance, policies and procedures, and the development and delivery of funded projects. 

• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver complex projects. 

• Experience of managing, supporting and developing staff or volunteers. 

• Strong relationship-building, listening and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of an organisation. 

• A community-centred approach, with the ability to understand different organisational needs, learn from lived experience and tailor support accordingly. 

• Excellent written communication and numeracy skills. 

• A strong understanding of cultural competency and experience working with diverse communities. 

• A genuine commitment to supporting the local voluntary sector and improving outcomes for children and young people. 

Desirable 

• Experience of working at board or trustee level within a charity or community interest company. 

• Experience of delivering organisational development, capacity building or infrastructure support to voluntary and community organisations. 

Although not essential, we strongly encourage applications who live, work or study in Kensington and Chelsea or who have existing knowledge and experience of the local area or voluntary sector.
