Job description

Part time/ Full time Business Development Manager

up to £40,721 p.a. (full time salary)

Nescot Enterprises Limited (NEL) is a Private Limited Company which is independent from, but wholly owned by, North East Surrey College of Technology (NESCOT). NEL is based just outside London and within the leafy Borough of Epsom & Ewell, well served by public transport (within 30 minutes commute of central London) and local road networks, including the M25.

NEL currently has 10 commercial initiatives, including a hair salon; café; osteopathy clinic; nursery; theatre; sports hall and grounds; and reprography. NEL has ambitious growth plans for these businesses and is looking to appoint an energetic and commercially astute Commercial Services Manager, ideally with experience of successfully managing and leading a number of different businesses, to join us on this exciting journey.

You will provide leadership to all of these businesses, working closely with the relevant Service Managers and their teams on delivering trading and growth. This includes tracking performance across a range of different metrics (sales, product, revenue, contribution etc.) as well as overseeing the end-to-end execution of bringing successful new business/propositions to market by working with our Sales and Marketing Teams.

We are looking for someone who promotes entrepreneurial thinking, is solution focused and can make connections across the team, the wider College and all of the external markets in which we operate. The ideal candidate will also be able demonstrate strong stakeholder management and inter-personal skills, confidently challenging and influencing opinions. They will also be comfortable operating numerical data sets as part of preparing business cases.  

Finally, to be successful in this role, the ideal candidate must be able to lead and take responsibility and ownership of their responsibilities, delegating constructively and being able to manage conflicting priorities under pressure, whilst maintaining a professional and positive manner to enable teams to deliver results.
