The Hardman Trust is at an exciting point in its development as it celebrates the arrival of its new team, the realisation of its first ever organisational strategy and looks forward to the next phase of its journey.
Our successful multi-year applications to the Lottery (Reaching Communities), City Bridge Trust and Bromley Trust means we will continue to be part-funded by them until 2027. Deeply rooted in the criminal justice sector, we plan to develop further our programme of support for those on long sentences both within and, we hope, beyond prison too; we aim to extend the reach and deepen the impact of our support and grants; and attract new partnerships with funders and like-minded third sector organisations. Last year we completed a merger with another charity which has expanded our reach and capacity.

The National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) is seeking a proactive and skilled Media Officer to join our Communications and Public Affairs team. This is a newly created role, offering the opportunity to help shape and strengthen NFCC’s voice in the national conversation around fire and rescue services.

Reporting into the Media and External Affairs Manager, you will play a central role in growing our media presence and positioning NFCC as the go-to source for journalists covering national fire and rescue issues. You will help to ensure our messages are clear, timely, and authoritative across all platforms.

Key responsibilities:

Serve as a point of contact for incoming media enquiries.

Draft high-quality, publication-ready communications content – including press releases, news articles, opinion pieces and other engaging content. 

Support NFCC’s campaigns and policy initiatives by securing media coverage and developing strong relationships with journalists and editors.

Take ownership of key communications tools and systems, including media monitoring and audit of coverage. 

Act as the lead Comms officer on at least one area of NFCC’s work in partnership with the relevant NFCC teams and lead officers (but will also work on a wide range of our issues and areas).

Participate in an out-of-hours communications rota as part of NFCC’s communication support function (with some out of hours support – see job description for more information). 

What we are looking for:

Experience in a media, journalism or communications role. 

Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce accurate, compelling content under pressure. 

Confidence in handling media enquiries and building positive relationships with the press. 

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. 

A collaborative approach, with experience working across teams and engaging with senior stakeholders. 

A good understanding of the UK media landscape and wider external environment.

About the Role

As a Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for setting up and updating all property and resident accounts on the rental ledger system and for ensuring that rental income in correctly reflected on both the rent and finance systems on a timely basis.

You will work closely with project staff and housing benefit departments regarding rental income queries and ensure that rental income is received in accordance with the charity’s internal financial controls and all legal regulatory requirements are complied with. The role will involve some sales ledger work, under the supervision of the Rental Income Business Partner.

The Role:
 
As the Business Support Executive, you’ll manage executive support, project administration, and corporate governance activities. Reporting to the Office Manager, you’ll ensure smooth operations across a variety of areas while contributing to the organisation’s mission and values of integrity, innovation, and inclusion.
 
Main responsibilities:
 

• Provide executive support to senior leadership, including diary management, travel coordination, and expense processing.
• Manage the administration of strategic projects, including tracking progress and coordinating regular updates.
• Support corporate governance functions, such as trustee recruitment, meeting preparations, and key events.
• Organise and facilitate office activities, such as team socials and wellbeing initiatives.
• Maintain essential office functions, covering for the Office Manager as required.

 
Essential requirements:
 

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
• Experience managing diaries and liaising with stakeholders at all levels.
• Professional handling of confidential information.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Friendly and positive attitude, with the ability to build strong relationships across diverse teams.
• Ability to work at own initiative and solve problems independently.

We are looking for a Community Fundraiser who has these key skills to help us raise vital income for our charity.  You will develop and deliver fundraising initiatives through partnerships with local groups, schools, associations and individuals.  This role will also involve delivering a number of fundraising events so being organised and creative is key and having a marketing focus to ensure maximum success.  No two days are the same and we are looking for someone who can be flexible in their approach and able to multitask effectively.

Night Support Workers enable people with particular needs to manage their tenancies and live independent lives of their choosing in the community. Night Support Workers are responsible for ensuring continuity of a support service at night and for keeping customers and the building safe.
This role is initially 3 months fixed term contract.
The shift pattern for this role is as follows: 10 x 8 hour shift pattern per fortnight, to include every other weekend.

What you'll do:
- Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers and creating a positive atmosphere
- Working proactively with other members of the team to handle the service caseload and administrative responsibilities
- Conducting key work sessions as required, that are innovative and engaging in order to achieve Support Plan goals
- Ensuring ongoing assessment and management of risks associated with customers within an attitude of 'positive risk taking'
- Providing support with daily living activities, including practical assistance to support customers to independent living e.g. budgeting, cooking, establishing a night time routine
- Supporting customers to maintain a healthy environment and where appropriate assisting them to clean their accommodation and maintain good personal hygiene
- Supporting customer with administering medication and prescription.
- Assisting in the recording and reporting of customer incidents
- Managing customer referrals, completing assessments and obtaining and maintaining all relevant paperwork

Who we're looking for

We’re looking for a Communications Lead with excellent written communication skills to help us promote the Centre’s research, campaigns and services across a range of channels. You will ensure our written and visual outputs are of the highest quality, and harness the Centre’s respected brand and reputation to influence change. 

Day-to-day tasks include:

• Copy-editing and proofreading a range of written materials, including blogs and publications
• Laying out our research reports for publication using Adobe InDesign
• Creating on-brand, engaging infographics and social media assets
• Writing and curating content to post to our social media channels
• Producing the Centre's monthly newsletter using Mailchimp
• Issuing press releases and responding to press enquiries

We're looking for someone with strong attention to detail, experience of using Adobe InDesign or Adobe Illustrator, with skills in writing copy for a range of key audiences and channels.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about tackling mental health inequalities, mindful of the sensitivities of communicating in this area, and able to harness and promote the Centre’s respected brand to drive change.

The impact you will have

Leading Connection Support’s fundraising activities, you will generate income from existing sources and new income streams, and inspire funders, donors and local companies to support our work. Providing strategic direction combined with a hands-on role, you will lead on funding applications, plan and deliver campaigns and events, and develop lasting relationships with our supporters.

This is an exciting time to join Connection Support as we celebrate our 30th anniversary and turn our focus to preventing homelessness long before it happens, as well as continuing to provide support for those in crisis. You will be joining a supportive and friendly team and will work closely with colleagues from across the organisation to deliver fundraising activities and raise the profile of Connection Support.

Hours: Between 30 – 37.5 hours per week.

Salary: £42,322 - £44,558 per annum (pro rata for part- time)

About you

You will have significant fundraising experience, including trust and foundation fundraising. In addition, you will have experience of at least one charitable income stream, i.e. cooperate, public, major donor or legacy, and a successful track record of delivering results.

Your experience should also include designing and managing fundraising campaigns and monitoring and analysing fundraising performance.

You will be passionate about solving homelessness and mental ill-health and share the values of Connection Support.
