About the role:
Kinship is in our third year of delivering the first national peer support service for kinship carers in England. We are looking for a new Associate Director of Peer Support and Community to build and develop our model and to take the team to the next phase of growth and impact.
Your first priority will be to oversee delivery of the Department for Education national Peer Support Service contract in England. You will lead the development of our hub and spoke model, with an enhanced offer of national resources and support together with a continued focus on on-the-ground support for kinship carers to set up and sustain a network of peer support groups. You will ensure a collaborative approach with services, alignment with national and local campaigning activity, and work closely with marketing and communications colleagues to support kinship carer reach and engagement with our community offer.
We’re taking an integrated approach to our services, so you’ll collaborate well across teams to ensure that support groups and their leaders have easy access to high quality advice, information and training. The team will need to work closely with colleagues delivering our new training and support contract, funded by the Department for Education.
Key responsibilities include:
- Innovation of the Peer Support Service.
-
Develop and rollout peer support and community strategy and operational plan.

2. Please give one example of when you have had to develop from scratch OR innovate a national service. Please include what the service budget was, what you did and what the outcome was.
3. This service is a high-profile contract, funded by the Department for Education. Targets and SLAs need to be met while providing impact for kinship carers. Please give a previous example of how you’ve delivered and met targets with high quality outputs.
4. You’ll be leading a team who has been through a restructure, with new staff starting and a new model to develop and embed. You will need to work at pace, while providing strong leadership and clarity to the team. How would you approach the first three months, what will you prioritise and what will you need?
5. Given the strategic ambition of Kinship, the context in which we work and this role as Associate Director of Peer Support and Community, where do you see the opportunities and risks for the service in the next 1-2 years? How would you prepare or mitigate them?

Evidence Manager
Remote/home working with occasional travel
£38,000 - £43,000 pa plus excellent benefits
35 hours per week
We are looking for a dynamic and creative Evidence Manager to join our Insight and Evidence team.
In this role, you will be playing an essential role in collating, analysing and communicating the evidence on a wide range of issues relevant to our communities.
We already know a huge amount about the priorities, needs and experiences of people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus. We now want to take this to the next level to inform our evidence-based approach to support our programmes, services and policy work. In this role you will be taking a lead on how we can both broaden and deepen our insight from the available evidence; we want to improve how we communicate and share this information to a wide range of stakeholders; and we want to get better clarity on where the gaps are that most urgently need addressing.
The role is an ideal opportunity for someone who is interested in a wide range of social issues and how they are experienced by and affect our communities. We take an inclusive approach to evidence – we recognise that much important insight is gathered and held in ‘grey literature’ generated by third sector organisations, for example, and value qualitative insights alongside quantitative approaches.
We are looking for someone who embraces this inclusive model and is also flexible and creative: there are novel and interesting approaches to evidence mapping and reviewing (including the use of AI tools, participatory approaches etc.). We are keen to explore how we can incorporate these into our ways of working – whether that be for improved efficiency and/or to bring our communities closer to our work.
You will be working closely with colleagues in the Insight and Policy team, as well as with others across our matrixed organisation to ensure that the organisation is insightful and evidence-led.
You will lead the development of a new approach to our evidence management, in line with our new Insight & Evidence strategy and identify and select the most appropriate methods for systematically mapping, reviewing, and synthesising the evidence on key issues relating to our communities.
You should have strong experience in evidence searching, mapping, reviewing and synthesis, in a social research context. With a solid understanding of both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. You should have a demonstrable ability to distil evidence into a range of formats suitable for diverse audiences.
We are RNID. Together we’ll make life more inclusive for deaf people and those with hearing loss or tinnitus.
Our charity has been through a complete transformation, while building on the best of our past. We’ve returned to our former, much-loved name, become wholly remote working, and established a new strategy, focused on reaching the 12 million people in the UK who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus.
We are creating a radically different culture which is externally focused, curious, evidence-based, deliberate, agile, and future orientated. Our values are at the heart of what we do.
We strive to be and continue to be connected to our communities, insightful and confident in what we do and who we are, curious in everything we do and passionate about our purpose.
We champion the value of difference and equality and celebrate our diverse and inclusive workforce. We actively encourage applications from eligible candidates from BAME backgrounds or who are deaf or hard of hearing. With almost 20% of our employees having a disability we proudly hold Disability Confident Leader status and guarantee an interview for disabled applicants meeting the minimum essential criteria.
Applicants are required to submit a cover letter as part of the application process, highlighting their relevant experience, skills, and enthusiasm for the role.
Closing date: 17 June 2024.
Interviews expected: w/c 1 July 2024.

Our vision is of our world where communities unite to create the futures they want to see, through education.
Since 2016, through collaborating extensively with over 250 local volunteers, who take a central leadership role in the development of the network, we have supported 50 communities in creating and running community-led and owned education spaces named ‘Spots’, with a strategy to support them in moving towards our ‘Dream Spot Model’. Together, we are developing a model for a community-led education space with accompanying network engagement that could have relevance in settings across the world.
Our Ghana-based programmes team creates collaborative learning opportunities through three leadership programmes for volunteers: the Ignite, Catalyse and Peer Mentoring Programmes. These enable them to lead EduLit, EduSTEM, EduKidz and Ignite Equity clubs, alongside locally designed education projects, reaching over 10,000 students of all ages annually. As a leading international Christian development charity, we work in 10 countries across Africa and Asia to defeat leprosy and transform lives.
Today, one person every two minutes is diagnosed with leprosy. It’s a disease of poverty, striking the most vulnerable. Left untreated, it causes permanent disability. Stigma means that people affected by this disease are often rejected by those closest to them.
We are looking for an inspirational communicator to be the face of The Leprosy Mission. You’ll be working from home, with extensive travel across your region. As part of a fun and supportive team, you’ll be changing the lives of people who have been rejected by society. There’s nothing more rewarding than that!
We have a culture of growing and learning together, providing extensive training in fundraising and international development. You’ll also have opportunities to visit projects overseas and see our work first hand.
We’re looking for:

- Experience of managing volunteers
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Willingness to work on Sundays and evenings as required, and occasional Saturdays

A valid UK driving license is an essential requirement for the role. The successful candidate will be required to undertake a work health questionnaire.
There is a potential for a job share in this role. If you’re interested in a job share, please confirm your availability to work Sundays and two days in the week in your application.
