The England Project Management Team manage all sorts of projects, from species recovery at a landscape scale to infrastructure repairs and commercial developments. Fitzrovia Youth in Action is looking for an experienced, passionate and enthusiastic person for our Youth Participation Officer role. If you feel like this is you, we would love to hear from you!

The post holder will manage and develop youth-led community projects in which young people develop their leadership and employability skills through becoming actively involved in their community and participating in self-directed community action. The successful candidate will oversee the development and delivery of several youth-led community projects, primarily the organisation of youth-led community events, but might also include elements of other youth-led activities, such as youth action team, health champions and ambassadors. 

For example, typically, this would involve working with groups of around 10 young people in each cohort and support them to deliver their community event project over a 12-week period.  Examples of events include youth-led football tournaments, street parties and our community Christmas dinner. This post will be part of the delivery team overseeing self-directed community action projects. The post holder may also support drop-in sessions and other activities aimed at engaging young people and referring them onto the youth-led community action programme.

3. Support in the review and prepare timely and accurate MEAL reports, including progress reports and impact assessments.
4. Provide assistance in monitoring programme progress including the design of appropriate MEAL Plans, indicators, targets, baseline data, timelines, data collection tools that can track progress of projects’ progress.
5. Support the preparation of terms of reference of external and internal evaluations, case and impact studies in coordination with the focal points.
6. Support the MEAL Manager on building capacity among staff and partners in MEAL concepts and practices.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

1. Bachelor’s degree required; postgraduate degree in international development, sustainable livelihoods, humanitarianism, or programme management preferred.
2. Understanding of development programmes design, implementation and evaluation.
3. Experience and understanding of monitoring and evaluation of programmes; using of quantitative and qualitative research data collected in support of programme development.
4. Experience developing logical/results frameworks, indicators, and MEAL plans.
5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; effective in diverse and challenging environments.
6. Strong measurement, analytical, systematic thinking, planning and organisational skills.

The post holder will join a team of safeguarding officers who will carry specific responsibility for individual cases, undertake risk assessments, lead training and advise churches. The post will be aligned to the Bristol Methodist District and provide support to colleagues across the regional area requiring regular travel.
