The Trusts and Foundations Officer will support the Trusts and Foundations team to meet income targets and develop and maintain relationships with donors and prospects. The role combines supporting the Trusts and Foundations Manager, Senior Trusts Officer, and Head of Fundraising with the maintenance of existing relationships as well as generating their own income from both smaller and larger trusts. The successful candidate will demonstrate success in securing grants from charitable trusts, foundations, and institutional donors. Proven experience in trust and foundation fundraising, preferably within the nonprofit sector or a similar environment is essential.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated candidate who is looking for a career in fundraising. In this role you will be:

To be successful in this role you will have:

The successful candidate will work with the Head of the Gambling Action Lab (GAL) and the Senior Research Officer to bring together a handful of representatives from financial services firms to explore ways to reduce gambling-related financial harms. They will build and maintain stakeholder relationships and play a key role in facilitating group discussions with financial services representatives. This exciting role will also involve driving and promoting the work and visibility of the GAL, and planning and delivering a programme of events to promote our work.

About the role:

About Black Thrive
Black Thrive Global (BTG) evolved from the work of the Black Thrive Lambeth (BTL) Partnership, which was established in 2016. We exist to address the inequalities that negatively impact the mental health and wellbeing of Black people so that the thriving of Black communities is the norm.
Our guiding principle is that Black communities should be at the forefront of reimagining, redefining, and co-creating a society where systemic racism and other oppressive systems have been dismantled so that they have fulfilling lives. We have two priorities – building a Black Thrive Research Institute and embedding race equity in systems change.
We have grown rapidly since 2021 and so still have a start-up culture and often deal with competing priorities at a fast pace.
The aim of Black Queer & Thriving is to explore the health and wellbeing needs of Black LGBTQ+ people in Lambeth and Southwark, develop community research that details these needs with the Working Group and use the outcome to influence local policy and infrastructure.
The purpose of this role is to support the Black Queer & Thriving workstream with the main priorities being:

Providing administrative support to the development of the Black LGBTQ+ Working Group, including organising meetings and minute taking;

Supporting relationship management with Lambeth and Southwark’s Black LGBTQ+ community; and

Leading on a community research project exploring the health and wellbeing experiences of Black LGBTQ+ people in Lambeth and Southwark.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to help SARSAS realise it’s vision of a world without sexual violence, through our ambitious strategy to extend our preventive programmes and maintain our essential high-quality services. Through developing and expanding income generated through trust and grants, corporate giving and individual giving, you will help us to be part of the systems change to end gender-based violence.
You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and team leads to understand funding priorities, identify potential funders and donors and develop compelling funding bids, proposals and appeals. This will include collaboration to develop partnership proposals.
You will undertake new prospect research and develop and nurture excellent donor relationships. You will seek opportunities to strengthen and build on existing and lapsed funding relationships and be proactive about identifying further development opportunities.
In order to realise our ambitions, we need to extend our programme of fundraising growth, so we can increase our annual income from circa £3 million to in excess of £3.5 million.
About you
Through this new organisational role, you’ll proactively create and grow fundraising income opportunities with individuals, corporate partners and grant giving trusts and foundations. You'll bring our cause to life and building lasting funder and donor relationships, leading the drive for new donor engagement and securing sustainable, multi-year funding.
Through your fundraising expertise, you will have a proven track record of building relationships with corporate partners, individuals and other donors to achieve and exceed annual income targets and KPI’s. You’ll have ability support and mentor your team and the capacity yourself to create and craft compelling bids, proposals and appeals that successfully engage and attract donations from new and existing supporters.

Key responsibilities
Fundraising delivery and development
- Develop, monitor and manage a fundraising portfolio capable of generating in excess of £500k per annum, establishing a fundraising pipeline and a range of KPI’s that can be tracked and will enable you to make informed projections regarding future income.
- Set up and manage clear planning processes to prepare funding applications, providing clear guidance to colleagues and external partners, which supports effective collaboration, and ensures the submission of high-quality bids, on time.

Relationship management and stewardship

- Identify and broker relationships with key funders capable of funding against our fundraising priorities, providing high-quality relationship management, using appropriate communication tools and channels to maintain relationships with key individuals and organisations.
- Design and implement generic and bespoke stewardship plans for our current network of donors, working closely with the Communications Team on the development of mailings, reports, and events as necessary.

Staff management

The Operations Manager is responsible for Dose of Nature’s day-to-day operational management, providing a welcoming and efficient front face and ensuring organisational effectiveness to support the delivery of Dose of Nature’s strategic objectives. Dose of Nature is a mental health charity whose objective is to improve the mental health and wellbeing of individuals through increased engagement with the natural world. Our work is rooted in a wealth of scientific evidence that demonstrates the physiological and psychological benefits of spending time in nature. We deliver ‘nature prescriptions’ to people referred by their GP with a wide range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction. Our Dose of Nature Prescription Programme is overseen by psychologists and is a genuine alternative to both medication and more traditional psychological interventions. Through a combination of education, first-hand experience, and practical and motivational support, we aim to encourage a greater connection with nature, and inspire lifestyle changes that will have a significant and lasting impact on mental wellbeing. They are partnered with Jane Montague Consultancy to deliver the 13-15 month Fundraiser Level 3 programme. Apprentices work on the job within a charity whilst receiving 20% off the job training from current industry experts.
