Job Purpose

Reporting to and supported by the Head of Impact, Learning & Organisational Development, this role is instrumental in building a solid foundation for the future of Babbasa.  You will be responsible for trusts/ foundations grants research, applications, administration and impact reporting to funders. You will also work on building relationships with philanthropists and work with the Communications Lead in developing appropriate fundraising communications. 

Core Responsibilities

Fundraising development

• Identify and pursue new funding opportunities for our youth empowerment programmes, as well as for research and innovation opportunities to expand our existing offer.

• Responsible for trust and foundation grant applications, including bid conceptualisation, proposal writing, fundraising budget creation and application review.

• Support / develop relationships with philanthropists with a view to securing major gifts and legacies.

• Maintain and develop authentic and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to effectively steward them.

• Work with and deputise for the Head of Impact, Learning & Organisational Development to steward funders with the aim of achieving Babbasa’s annual revenue target.

Management & Reporting

• Responsible for producing evaluation reports as per each funder’s reporting schedule, working with other team members to ensure that the reporting is accurate and timely.

• Track, review and report progress against the Business Plan to the Head of Impact, Learning & Organisational Development and the wider team using our Monday CRM system.

• Continually review risks, feedback, procedures, strategy and approach to improve profitability.

• Work with the Head of Impact and the wider senior leadership team to understand Babbasa’s strategic direction and priorities.

General Responsibilities

• Ensure young peoples’ comments, voices and suggestions are at the heart of service design and fundraising strategy
• Ensure internal administrative tasks and reports are completed in a timely and accurate manner as required by Babbasa and the activity funder.

• Commit to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to achieve and maintain professional standards of your role and area of responsibilities.

• To attend and take part in all core Babbasa meetings.

• Contribute positively as part of a busy team to deliver business objectives.

Person Specification

You are fundraising aware – you know how to research and evaluate appropriate grant fundraising opportunities and manage the process of engagement.  You have knowledge of the fundraising landscape in Bristol and of key funders for youth empowerment,  social mobility and poverty reduction.

You have excellent communication skills – You have outstanding writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to create bespoke fundraising materials for funders.  You are a confident connector with the ability to influence decision making and you have an understanding of the social value and positive impact of Babbasa. 

Stakeholder management / stewardship - You have the ability to develop and maintain relationships and make connections with and between organizations, institutions and individuals. 

Working with others - You work to identify funding gaps in the organisation, scope and plan minor and major projects to address them, and successfully drive fundraising projects to completion, involving and engaging colleagues appropriately throughout. You develop and maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders at every level – with the young people on our programmes, with staff in each department, with our external consultants, with our Board and with others. 

Organised - You are well-organised and have good attention to detail. You juggle multiple deadlines and have a track-record of balancing multiple tasks and responsibilities. You are meticulous and able to prioritise conflicting needs. Effective and efficient – You are constantly reflecting on working practices and improving where necessary. Role Summary

In 2020/21, the Careers & Enterprise Company appointed its first ever Youth Board Member to the strategic board of directors, to give young people a decision-making voice. The CEC subsequently established a national Youth Advisory Group, to establish and embed an organisation wide approach to capturing Youth Voice, both for the purpose of driving impact and measuring the value of our work. This work has already had a huge impact on the company, and we are looking to embed Youth Voice still further into our work at a more strategic level.

The Youth Advisory Group has three primary functions across The Careers & Enterprise Company, to:

• Govern: challenge CEC’s work to consider youth voice
• Enrich: focus on the future of CEC's strategic direction
• Advise: mobilising their voice in key projects and priorities

The Careers & Enterprise Company is seeking to recruit an 18-month fixed term Youth Engagement Officer to support the administration, facilitation and delivery of youth engagement and participation across our organisation. The role will sit within the Education Development Team and work closely with our Youth Advisory Group and Youth Board members. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to champion youth voice and deliver high quality youth participation activities.

This new role has an exciting remit to develop practice, to innovate in youth voice practice, to lead on the operational delivery of the Youth Advisory Group and support with the strategic direction of this work. Reporting directly to the Education Manager responsible for youth voice, but also working effectively across the directorate and across the company, you will manage the delivery of various aspects of our operations including, but not limited to:

1. Effective project management – to ensure that CEC’s YAG has the greatest impact possible, you will work with colleagues from across the business, including at times the Careers Hub Network and put in place the right tools and processes for effective delivery of all elements of the youth voice. This may include establishing and managing relationships across teams, efficient reporting procedures and may extend to other areas of CEC’s ever evolving programme of work.
2. Innovate and design – CEC’s work, and the careers education landscape, is continually evolving. Responding to changing needs of the company, skills of the YAG members and proactively planning for project pivots, will be essential to success in this role. You will look for creative ways to strengthen youth voice across the company.

One in three students leave school each year without a pass in GCSE English and maths - this rises to over one in two for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Without GCSEs in English and maths, these young people are significantly more likely to drop out of education and are locked out of key professions, apprenticeships, and university courses.

Get Further exists to change this. Our charity has an award-winning tuition programme that helps students from disadvantaged backgrounds in further education to pass GCSEs in English or maths. We place highly qualified, specialist English and maths tutors in further education, who deliver a bespoke curriculum that builds confidence and skills in these core subjects.

THE ROLE

The Senior Data and Insights Officer will help us to demonstrate the importance of our tuition for young people and adults who are undertaking these foundational qualifications.

You will have strong attention-to-detail and will make sure our data is relevant, accurate and confidential. You will be skilled in data analysis and interpretation: able to draw out insights from data and be confident in writing – and communicating – impact for a variety of purposes and audiences. 

As the Senior Data and Insights Officer you will work with the Director of Impact, within our Quality and Impact Team to:

Database Usage and Reporting  

• Support our Salesforce Lead in creating reports and dashboards, ensuring all data is relevant, accurate and secure.
• Use our database management system to generate reports and data analysis for the Senior Leadership Team, and other internal colleagues, to support marketing campaigns, fundraising campaigns, statutory information requests and organisational insight.
• Prepare reports for college partners, funders, and the Board, which set out our data, findings and impact, clearly and accurately. 
• • Confidently write about insights and findings from our data, generating learnings and recommendations for the organisation and other stakeholders.

Internal and External Evaluations

• Support the Director of Impact in developing assessment frameworks to robustly measure our impact and designing dissemination plans, to best harness and communicate that impact. 
• Oversee and implement internal evaluation activity, for example, finalising student surveys, focus group and interview tools. 
• Review and enhance data collection tools, process, analysis, and reporting. 
• Undertake qualitative and quantitative analysis of our evaluation data; and use the data to make recommendations to improve programme quality. 
• Review and keep abreast of literature and research in the further education, wider education, tuition and research landscape. You will share and apply learnings to our evaluation processes and programme delivery. 
• Manage large research projects with external evaluators.

Policy, Compliance & Quality Assurance 

• Support our ongoing compliance with GDPR across the organisation, as well as upholding our safeguarding frameworks.
• Implement policies and procedures relating to GDPR and ensure those policies are adhered to across the organisation. 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL 

• Commitment to Get Further’s mission and values, including passionate about tackling educational inequality.
• Familiarity with database systems, like Salesforce (or able and interested in learning to use a database management system).
• Skilled in data analysis: able to use complex data to produce accurate, insightful and engaging findings and recommendations. 
• Research experience e.g. designing qualitative and quantitative instruments, survey design, knowledge of research designs (QED, RCT), ethical considerations, participatory research.
• IT skills e.g. MS Office (Word and Excel) and also data analytics software like Tableau and PowerBi.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Children’s Hospice South West as our Legacy Officer. You will play a key role in dealing with all matters relating to legacies and bequests to the Charity and fully maximising legacy income.

About the role:

Legacy income is a significant source of funds for Children’s Hospice South West ensuring our vital care for children and young people with life limiting conditions continues. You will be responsible for the day to day administration of a mixed caseload of residuary and pecuniary legacies, as well as having the opportunity to work on a number of complex and contentious cases. You will ensure legacy income is fully maximised, cash flow maintained, and all legal and procedural requirements met.

You will be working closely with the finance and income processing team as well as the Legacy Fundraiser. You will therefore be able to work on your own initiative as well as being a good team player. This is a busy role within a supportive and hard working team.

About you:

We are looking for someone who has experience in either a charitable legacy administration team and/or working within the estate administration sector. It would be advantageous to have a working knowledge of the law of wills and probate.

• Possession of the Institute of Legacy Management Certificate of Competence or equivalent, or a willingness to study for this qualification, where appropriate
• Demonstrable experience of legacy administration and/or estate management
• Experience of managing and prioritising a caseload
• Strong verbal and written skills

Role purpose

This role would suit someone with at least 2 years’ experience in a charity finance role, who has experience or knowledge of all the core accounts department processes and some understanding of different charity income streams. You might be studying for an accounting qualification (e.g. AAT or ACCA) or be qualified by experience.

A training package may be available for an applicable accounting qualification.

Responsibilities

• Day to day management and systems administration of Xero accounting software, expenses software (ExpenseIn), and other linked financial applications.
• Carry out monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, debtors and creditors, and set up payment runs.
• Prepare monthly management accounts journals (prepayments, accruals, depreciation, deferred and accrued income) and control account reconciliations.
• Being the systems administrator for the Fundraising CRM system (Donorfy) and linked platforms and applications (e.g. JustGiving, Stripe, EventBright).
• Database management of Donorfy and linked platforms and applications.
• Reconcile data between Donorfy and Xero, and where necessary, with other linked platforms and applications.
• Ensure Gift Aid returns are correctly submitted to HMRC (via Donorfy)
• Support with the development and implementation of new systems and procedures.
• Provide training and induction to new joiners in using Donorfy and ExpenseIn as well as for any other relevant platforms and applications.
• Business partnering - provide day to day support to the wider organisation with finance and fundraising system queries, payment information, and supplier queries.

Who we are looking for 

We are seeking a Database Support Officer to join our fundraising team.

We care about building lasting relationships with our 21,000 active supporters and our database is critical in helping us to do that. For the right person, this is an opportunity to support our charity in using data to achieve our mission - to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to take responsibility for the delivery of several key functions within the Data Services team. You will be responsible for the importing of data into the database, providing contact data to JDRF teams to support and promote campaigns, direct mail, community engagement, major donor giving and challenge events, whilst providing database support and guidance to users, including providing training.

You’ll have knowledge of a relational database, excellent attention to detail and be skilled and comfortable in building good working relationships with colleagues and external suppliers.

You’ll join a small but friendly and driven team at an exciting time as we implement our new Data strategy to transform how we use data to engage our supporters.

About you

You will have demonstrable experience of working in a communications role, ideally working with an internal staff audience.

High Trees are seeking a dynamic and creative Voluntary and Community Sector Support Officer to provide tailored development support to local organisations and manage projects relating to sector support. You will be joining us at an exciting time following the formation of a new Research and Development team which is starting to deliver a new capacity building offer to the local VCS sector, including one-to-one mentoring and the production of high-quality resources based on our experience of working with Lambeth communities for over 25 years. We deliver capacity building support both directly and through our partnership work.

This is a hands-on, practical role and the right candidate will have a wide skillset and interest in continually developing skills in order to perform this role. You will be working on a variety of projects which focus on capacity building and VCS infrastructure support. Your day-to-day work will be varied and over the next 12 months we expect this to include tasks such as supporting local VCS organisations on a one-to-one basis to improve their policies and procedures, managing a local grants programme, creating high quality templates and user guides, and running workshops using the resources we have developed such as our Collaboration and Employment Toolkits. We will be developing and refining our offer to the local VCS sector over the coming year and expect this to lead to further new and exciting pieces of work.

In support of Mercy Corps’ mission, the global Corporate and Foundation Partnerships team manages Mercy Corps’ fundraising relationships with major global companies and foundations. We set bold visions for the positive social change we can create with our partners, provide outstanding partner services and relationship management, and together build meaningful partnerships that provide value to all parties while creating lasting impact for the local communities where we work. Our partnerships span areas including emergency response, economic and market development, food and water security, climate change, and peacebuilding. We work across many teams at Mercy Corps, including marketing and communications, mass market fundraising, the executive office, and with our programme and country-based colleagues around the world. This position sits within Mercy Corps’ Development team.

The Position 

The Communications Officer, Global Corporate & Foundation Partnerships will focus on two key workstreams: 1) Implementing the communications and profile-raising strategy for the Development team’s $250M Climate: Possible global campaign and 2) Communications projects supporting European corporate and foundation partners. Working closely with the Communications Director, Global Corporate & Foundation Partnerships, and the Senior Director of Development in Europe, this position will coordinate across internal teams, including fundraising relationship managers and communications and marketing team members, and liaise directly with external partners.

Essential Responsibilities 

CLIMATE: POSSIBLE COMMUNICATIONS & PROFILE-STRATEGY SUPPORT (60%)

●Support the execution of the Climate: Possible communications plan, including managing the creation of thought leadership deliverables, developing written and other creative content, and coordinating internal reviews.

●Create an editorial calendar, develop and track an ongoing stream of content for executive and agency social media channels that highlights Mercy Corps’ expertise in climate adaptation programming.

●Event support, including developing briefing documents, talking points, invitation copy, and social media promotion for external climate conferences and events and Mercy Corps-organised corporate and foundation partnership events.

●Create new deliverables and update the existing suite of Climate: Possible marketing materials, as needed.

GENERAL COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT FOR CORPORATE & FOUNDATION AUDIENCES (35%)

●Contribute to the development and implementation of multi-channel profile-raising strategies in support of the European strategic plan. Contribute to the profile and influence strategy to raise Mercy Corps’ profile with key corporate and foundation donors and prospects.

●Manage emergency response coordination for the Global Corporate and Foundation Partnership teams in partnership with the Global Sr. Communications Officer. Write emergency response communications (creating and sourcing content from internal teams), including email solicitations and updates, and help create donor deliverables, including decks and webinars to support emergency response fundraising amongst Corporate and Foundation partners.

●Source, transform, and create content into compelling Corporate and Foundation audience-specific products, including emails, blog and social posts, pitch decks, fact sheets, and videos.

●Serve as the communications lead, in partnership with corporate relationship managers, for corporate co-fundraising opportunities and submission prizes and competitions.

●Support strategic employee communications efforts for top European corporate partners in partnership with the Employee Engagement Officer.

●Monitor social media accounts of key Corporate and Foundation partners, and draft suggested posts for executive or agency engagement. 

KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT AND TEAM PROCESS IMPROVEMENT (5%) 

• Develop and maintain internal documents to track communications projects and evaluate and prioritise communications opportunities with partners.
• Stay abreast and socialize internal communications resources and general fundraising communication trends with the Corporate and Foundation teams. 
• Contribute to Mercy Corps’ ethical fundraising and communications strategy by creating materials in line with our ethical storytelling approach and guidelines.
