Development Officer Jobs
Every childhood is worth fighting for. This is our belief. It drives us, and it's the reason our Services teams push themselves to transform the lives of children and families, in person, in Hubs nationwide, and through the knowledge they share.
We are currently developing an exciting and innovative service offer to meet the needs of children, young people, families and professionals across the East of England and are looking for a Regional Implementation Support Officer to help us make a difference in the lives of more children and young people.
Our aim is to increase understanding of child sexual abuse and neglect and to raise awareness so that abuse can be identified, responded to and ultimately prevented.
We are recruiting an Implementation Support Officer to provide support to and sustain relationships with a range of organisations and key stakeholders across the East of England to enable them to successfully implement and deliver NSPCC programmes, services and products. This is a new post and sits across our Development and Implementation and Direct Services Teams.
Reporting into the Assistant Director for the East of England this role will play a key part in scaling our evidence-based services across the region. This role will:
- Provide a range of virtual and face to face support to external agencies to successfully implement NSPCC programmes, services and products
- Arrange, support and sometimes deliver training to support implementation of services
- Work closely with regional colleagues to support sustainability of scale up and reach of services
- Undertake work alongside the East Region Assistant Director, the Associate Head of Implementation and the appropriate Relationship Managers to implement strategies and methodologies to successfully replicate and implement programmes, services and products and to deliver on agreed KPI's and corporate targets
- Support the team to meet the in-year target of reach of professionals and Income Generation.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team in developing and building our work in the East of England. You will become part of a team that cares about the work we do and the people we work with, discover opportunities to grow, along with challenges and a shared purpose that will bring the best out in you. You will get to find your own way to make a difference that means more, and that impacts young lives.
The successful candidate will work in a hybrid team, working from home or co-working spaces. In the first instance we will be taking a place-based approach by working in the Luton and Bedfordshire area, however the successful candidate will be expected to travel throughout the region.
In return, we offer a full range of family friendly policies and benefits to help achieve a good work-life balance. Our people are at the heart of everything we do. It's because of them that we're able to continue our work to protect children and prevent abuse. We work hard to ensure that that they feel happy and supported in their role.
The NSPCC is committed to equality and diversity and wants to attract a range of talented people. The NSPCC fully supports the rights and opportunities of all staff to seek, obtain and hold employment and to enjoy equal employment opportunities without discrimination.

About the Youth Endowment Fund
We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.
In recent years violent crime has risen significantly. Homicides, assaults, robberies and offences involving weapons have all seen sustained growth. We have also seen large increases in violent crime involving children and young people. This is a tragedy. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them.
The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment and a mission that matters. We exist to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by funding great initiatives, finding what works and working for change – scaling up and spreading the practices that make a difference.
Our Change team does this by building excellent relationships and sharing evidence of what works with organisations and key individuals across the public, private, third sectors and local communities. We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, proactive and highly organised Change and Events Officer to join our Change team to help us fulfil our mission.
Key responsibilities
Most fundamentally, your job is to work as a member of our Change team to make sure we’re excellent at running events and managing relationships with key stakeholders. You’ll make sure the team is incredibly organised and has the support it needs to work effectively. Key responsibilities:
-
Event Organising. Help to organise events, from small roundtables to large in person conferences. You will help make sure events run brilliantly, from booking venues to managing invites and organising materials.
-
External Relationship Management Support. Provide support to the team in managing external relationships by scheduling meetings, organising workshops and developing materials.
-
Meeting Effectiveness. Make sure certain meetings are effective. You’ll do this by organising the meetings, taking great minutes, making sure we keep track of things we said we would do and saving the documents in the right place.
-
Project Support. Help ensure projects within the Change teams are done brilliantly. This may involve administrative tasks, tracking deadlines or leading projects as needed.
-
Query Management. Monitor and respond to general queries by managing the team inbox.
-
Salesforce Reporting and Stakeholder Communication. Lead on coordinating Salesforce reporting and effective communication outreach for key stakeholder groups.
-
Stakeholder Engagement and Change Activities. Develop and support stakeholder engagement and Change activities, including monitoring and compiling feedback from surveys.
-
Team Scorecard Coordination. Lead on co-ordinating the team scorecard, ensuring that the team is on track with targets.
-
Collaboration. Work closely with other roles (including our Operations and Culture team) within YEF to ensure coordinated efforts and sharing of best practices.
About you
You are this sort of person:
-
You’re incredibly organised: You have an eye for detail and you’re excellent at and enjoy designing a plan and seeing it through. You use your organisational skills to work across your team and keep everyone working together to achieve the same goals. You have a track record of making things happen on time. You like finding ways to make things operate better for everyone. It’s a plus if you’ve used the Salesforce system, before but it’s not a requirement.
-
You love organising external events: You like helping to create experiences that leave people feeling energised, excited and ready to act, whether that’s a well-run roundtable, an effective workshop or a remarkable conference.
-
You understand how people and organisations work: You understand the nuance of how decisions get made and you understand how to find out who has decision-making power.
-
You win people over: People tend to warm to you and respect you. You easily build good relationships with both very senior and very junior people. You are at ease talking to a senior civil servant or a 15-year-old.
-
You love supporting great teams: You don’t know all the answers, but you enjoy helping colleagues find answers and solve problems so that the team can work brilliantly and efficiently.
-
You’re able to juggle many diverse tasks at once: You enjoy moving between different types of projects and prefer a job that looks a bit different every day. You can effectively identify what’s most important and how to balance different priorities.
-
You learn fast but remain humble: You quickly get your head around ideas. You have a track record that shows how quickly you think. It wouldn't faze you to have responsibility for organising things that are new to you, as long as you have an expert to ask advice from. You like learning and developing. You are proactive, but happy to ask for help when needed.
-
You don't want your days to pass without making a difference: You want to play a significant part in a charity that is making a difference. You like the idea of doing a job that makes young people safer.
-
You’re committed to equality, diversity and inclusion: You believe and act in a way that celebrates and encourages a range of experiences, views and values.
While it’s not a criterion, we are especially interested to hear from applicants who have lived experience of youth violence.
It’s also important to us that the people we hire do not discriminate. We believe in being inclusive and giving everyone an equal chance to succeed. Applications are welcome from all regardless of age, sex, gender identity, disability, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, religion or belief, race, sexual orientation, transgender status or social economic background.
All appointments will be made on merit, following a fair and transparent process. In line with the Equality Act 2010, however, the organisation may employ positive action where candidates from underrepresented groups can demonstrate their ability to perform the role equally well.
Additional benefits include
£1,000 professional development budget annually, 28 days plus Bank Holidays, four half days for volunteering activities.

SUDEP Action is the only UK charity focused on preventing epilepsy-related deaths. We have the only epilepsy bereavement service freely available to anyone suddenly bereaved by epilepsy (including SUDEP). By representing the voices of those who have died and who are bereaved, we aim to learn from deaths, and use research, policy and campaigns to raise awareness and take action that helps save lives.
Working both independently and with the wider team you will deliver a high-quality community fundraising service. Community Engagement Officer
£30,000 - £34,000 (dependent on relevant skills and experience) plus generous benefits
Location: Home-based, with occasional travel to Football Foundation offices and other sites
We are the Football Foundation - the Premier League, the FA and government’s charity that delivers outstanding grassroots facilities, more and better places to play, transforming lives and communities where it is needed most.
To help us with this important mission, we’re looking for a Community Engagement Officer to join the team and play a key role in ensuring we achieve our objectives of engaging with and increasing physical activity levels amongst the four key priority groups facing the greatest inequalities: low socio-economic groups, women and girls, disabled people and people with long term health conditions, and culturally diverse communities.
This is an exciting time to be joining the Football Foundation and this is a great opportunity to use your knowledge and experience of place-based working and community engagement to make a real difference through community sports.
About the Football Foundation
Over the last 22 years, the Foundation has awarded more than 23,000 grants to deliver outstanding grassroots facilities across England worth more than £877 million. This year, the Foundation will be investing more money than ever into facilities across England and is committed to improving the experience of playing football for everyone.
The Foundation’s goal is to unlock the power of pitches ensuring everyone has a great place to play regardless of gender, race, disability or place
The role
As Community Engagement Officer you will play a key role in ensuring the Foundation achieves its objectives of engaging with and increasing physical activity levels amongst the four key priority groups facing the greatest inequalities: low socio-economic groups, women and girls, disabled people and people with long term health conditions, and culturally diverse communities. This will predominantly be achieved through the critical support you will provide to our ambitious PlayZones Programme, as we continue to roll the programme out across priority areas of the Country.
We have an ambition to deliver in excess of 200 PlayZone facilities by 2025. To realise this ambition, we’re going to focus on investing in safe, inclusive, and accessible facilities in communities with the greatest need. We will tackle inequalities in physical activity levels and create inclusive opportunities for our priority groups to become active through recreational formats of football and other sports and activities.
With a great deal to do, the role will be pivotal in working with local groups to support them through the application process, and to ensure high quality projects are being developed based on local community need.
The role sits within the Football Foundation’s Delivery Team, the team responsible for strategic identification and capital project delivery, reporting to the Community Engagement Lead and with responsibility for a portfolio of PlayZone programme areas within one of the Delivery Team geographical regions.
You will provide critical support to applicants and work extremely closely with our network of Delivery Managers & Officers to advise and agree community engagement plans for a range of Over £25k projects – helping to ensure their engagement is robust, but that applicants also receive support and guidance as required throughout the development of their application.
Community Engagement Officers will champion the benefits of great engagement, capturing good practice, identifying successful approaches, and share knowledge and learning across the Foundation and other stakeholders.
What are we looking for?
You don’t need to follow football to apply, but it is expected that you appreciate the power of sport to change lives and have a genuine interest in using your skills and experience to help the Foundation achieve our charitable and strategic objectives.
You must be educated to HND/Degree standard, or with the equivalent experience, with knowledge of how sports development can be used for community benefit. You must have strong communication and interpersonal skills with experience of communicating with and supporting a diverse range of colleagues and customers remotely.
Your knowledge of place-based working and how to best reach and engage with local communities will be key for this role, as well as your understanding of the inequalities that exist in supporting active lives across socio economic groups, women & girls, individuals with a disability or a long-term health condition, and culturally diverse communities. You will be aware of and have experience of dealing with the operations and challenges faced by community organisations, charities, and the voluntary sector.
You must be highly organised, with working knowledge of different project management techniques and experience of managing multiple projects at the same time. While not essential, experience of producing robust reports and of using dashboards to monitor the progress of projects would be useful.
How we achieve our goals is equally important to us. We are striving to be an inclusive and diverse organisation which reflects the diverse communities, users and beneficiaries of our work and the outcomes we deliver. Becoming part of the Football Foundation team, will give you the chance to deliver a positive impact in every community in England; to help transform lives and communities through great places to play; and to be part of a supportive and inclusive staff team that works hard and plays fair to achieve its goals.
For full details of the role and requirements, please download our recruitment pack below.
