Job description

Head of Data

A nationally recognised membership-based charity is seeking a Head of Data to establish strong data foundations and lead the organisation through the next phase of its data maturity journey. This role sits just below the executive level and is critical to enabling better decision-making, insight, and transformation across the organisation.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the end-to-end data lifecycle, with a particular focus on data management, governance, quality, and architecture. This is not a pure analytics role, instead, it requires someone who understands data models, data governance frameworks, and modern data architectures, and can ensure the organisation’s data is reliable, accessible, and fit for purpose. You’ll work closely with business intelligence and digital teams to enable insight, while focusing your own leadership on the foundations that make insight possible.

This role requires a strong change leader and communicator, someone credible with senior stakeholders, comfortable advising executives and trustees, and able to tell a clear story about data priorities and trade-offs. You’ll build and lead a growing data function, setting direction, developing capability, and ensuring data becomes a trusted organisational asset rather than a technical afterthought.

Key skills & experience

  • Senior leadership experience across data management, governance, and data architecture in complex organisations.

  • Strong understanding of data models, data quality, and modern data platforms (e.g. cloud data warehouses / lakehouses).

  • Proven ability to lead teams and embed data standards and ways of working across an organisation.

  • Credibility with senior stakeholders, with strong communication and change leadership skills.

Salary: 75k + LW
Contract: Permanent
